this is a very nice venue to hold an event. a friend of mine had his wedding reception here, and it turned out great. staff and service was excellent. hors d’oeuvres were excellent as was the starting appetizer(scallops). the chicken and lamb entrees were also very good. finished off with cake cutting service and coffee. it’s not often you get a plated meal(with so many people) done right.

Easter brunch buffet~ OMG. Amazing dishes: Scallops pan fried over what I think was a butternut squash purée. The scallops were perfect and the butternut squash was yummy! Lamb chops(I think roasted) over fingerling potatoes and I think peas. They were good, had a hint of garlic. Crab cakes — all crab, no breading it was awesome Caprese salad with cherry tomatoes(red and yellow) Mini-tiramisu Fruit tarts Chocolate covered strawberries Coffee — this coffee was amazing! No bitter aftertaste. Perfect black, no sugar/no milk needed. Okay dishes: Crème brûlée — not enough crème, too much sugar that wasn’t torched fully Watermelon, pineapple salad

We held an event here several years ago and it was top notch! Although I can’t recall many specifics, their appetizers they brought out during the waiting portion in the front area were amazing. The service was very prompt and constantly refreshing. The meal itself was faaantastic given this was an event establishment serving a full room of attendees at one time. The venue itself is very nice, great upscale area, valet parking, great service… definitely recommend!

This place is a great venue for any occasion. The chefs are great and the GMs are there to help with whatever you need them for. The chef’s help design different types of menues for different types of events and if you want can make special orders. They offer valet parking and the inside is very nice. I would definitely recommend this place for weddings, luncheons, or just a party you want to throw!

I haven’t attended an event here but we visited the property on the hunt for our wedding reception location. Although the outside of the building isn’t anything impressive, the inside is nice, decently decorated, and clean. When we met with someone to go on a tour we were told that the upstairs ballroom had a reception going on and the lower ballroom was getting set up for an evening reception. I assumed that meant we wouldn’t get to see the upstairs ballroom. However, we were ushered right into the back of someone else’s wedding reception despite telling her we would rather not intrude on someone’s reception. The quick tour of the facility took fewer than ten minutes. Overall we got the feel of 103 West is a wedding mill where they pack as many weddings into each day as they can possibly fit without regard for how comfortably they would fit. Later that night we were told someone would be using a cramped and messy office as a bridal suite because there would be another wedding upstairs using the alternate space. Also, the person who gave us the tour suggested we use the valet parking. That seemed odd to me because I believe when you book there you have to pay extra for offering valet. If we had used it that would have meant the people whose reception we were ushered into would have paid for our parking. It just seemed tacky to me. The last thing I will mention is that when we went through the lower ballroom we saw one of the cakes 103 West prepared and it left a lot to be desired; sloppy white buttercream smeared on a few tiers with some sloppy designs piped on in white buttercream. I would give it fewer than two stars but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt given we didn’t actually attend an event or try their food.

My girlfriend’s sorority had their semi-formal there last night and I must say that the décor and outside façade is pretty opulent. The inside is filled with velvet couches, large mirrors, and an overall«chic» feel of décor. Now as for the food… it was good. The event had mostly appetizers in the form of pigs-in-a-blanket, mini-burgers, egg rolls, cheese, meats, and two types of pasta. The first three were all pretty good, they did a decent job of making«elegant» such homey foods. The cheese and meats left a bit to be desired. The meats were dry and the types of cheeses they had were very basic and had probably been out for a bit. The deserts were pretty good. The chocolate covered strawberries were a little old. The strawberries had the taste as if they had been made then chilled an evening or two before. The DJ would probably have to be my least favorite part of the evening. I realize he was to play TOP40’s but he had the tendency of throwing in songs that, although popular, I don’t think were ever meant to be danced too. I’m not sure if he was a house DJ, or just recommended by the establishment, but I wasn’t a huge fan. Overall it was a nice locale to rent out for parties. I’m thinking it may be a bit more expensive than its worth. But it does have that sense of pseudo-luxury that some might long for.

I have to say that I totally disagree with the other review posted here. I went to an event at 103 West on Sunday and absolutely loved it. We were upstairs in the decadent bar area(red banquettes with pretty cream colored fabric draped behind) and upstairs dining room. The event(belated holiday party) that I attended consisted of passed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails and then a seated dinner. The passed appetizers were truly out of this world. There was a sushi station with a great selection of tuna, salmon, BBQ eel, hamatchi and more, while some of the highlights of the passed treats included a delicate shredded duck pancake, fried lobster beignets and crispy little potato chips with blue cheese and bechemel sauce on them. The staff was friendly and attentive and I never saw an empty glass or plate sit for more than a few seconds before some efficient server came and scooped it up. Dinner was one of the best meals I’ve had in some time — certainly the best I’ve EVER had at an event for so many people. They had stations of seafood(fresh oysters on the half shell, succulent crab legs — already cracked out of their shells, plump pink shrimp and caviar with smoked salmon) and a carving station with juicy lamb chops and beet roast. One of my favorite things that night were their adorable little asiago stuffed baby potatos. They also had a terrific selection of nice wines, Champagne and a well-stocked bar. Overall, I was really impressed with the space and the staff. Not only that, it was raining like crazy the night we were there, and I loved their valet set up — it’s all covered under a portico, so I never got the least bit wet coming in. If I were planning a wedding or corporate function(which I’m likely to do soon), 103 West would be at the top of my list.

Ok, so those of us who have lived in Atlanta for many years used to remember 103 West as one of the«fine dining establishments» in Buckhead regardless of how pimped out the velvet-covered furniture made you feel like you were in a really bad re-run of «The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.» Well, folks, Buckhead is now«Buckhood» and 103 West just isn’t the same anymore. Gone are the days where you go in and have a nice meal. 103 West is now a full-fledged«function facility» complete with expensive mediocre food and I’m here to tell you to go somewhere else for your functions! Case in point. I went to a wedding reception there a few weeks ago and while the upstairs bar was nice and the seating was adequate, what a disappointment the reception was! Now I have to «fault» the wedding couple for the menu selection but even they couldn’t have possibly known that the quality of the food was as it was. There were 3 – 4 «stations» of food. One was tacos(and the tortillas were not even warm), one was pasta(and the sauce tasted like it was out of a jar), one was cheese/antipasta(which was our«saviour» since the rest of the food sucked) and some kind of meat which I couldn’t determine if it was turkey or tenderloin. Needless to say, I stayed away from that table. We were queued up at the«Mexican station» when some guy that resembled a «banquet host» instructed us to «go to the next table because there is plenty of food there.» I didn’t move because I wanted to try the Mexican first and he admonished me by saying, «Didn’t you hear me?» I said, «Yes and I am choosing to stay right where I am!» Those that got out of queue and did«as instructed» quickly returned because they wanted the Mexican food as well. Later, my table-mates returned and said that the same thing happened to them but this time the«banquet host» grabbed a plate and fixed himself a hearty platter of tacos and took them behind the station and proceeded to eat them! Hope the wedding couple didn’t get charged for HIS portion! Now, there is a part of me that wants to «review» the groom’s cake but I’m a little«torn» because I don’t konw if this was requested by the wedding couple or if it was SUGGESTED. Either way, since when does a pyramid of Krispy Kreme doughnuts equate to a groom’s cake?! No kidding, readers! You heard it here first! This was a pyramid of stacked KKs with cholocate-dipped(the chocolate had been coloured orange and black) strawberries randomly tossed about the mound-o-donuts! Someone at the table where I was sitting said that«all the celebrities are doing this» but I don’t care! It looked cheesy and if 103 West SUGGESTED this idea, then they are not worthy of the 1-star rating that I’ve generously given them. In the«old days» 103 West was worth the money. With this change in their target market, it really ranks no higher than catering your function from the frozen food aisle at Sam’s Club(apologies to Sam’s Club Members). STAYAWAY!
