My favorite Mexi-American food! I am a big fan of the nachos as well as the stacker!

Come here if you are in the mood for some«Meh“xican food but you would be better off spending your $ 7 elsewhere. I should have listened to Sean O. when he said that the food was just okay– a San Diegan ought to trust another San Diegan… I ordered some oddly-named quesadilla there and ended up with a hot mess in my basket. They did put a fair amount of chicken in there and for that, they can earn the two stars. I frankly think Chipotle’s food has more flavor to it. Their salsa bar was a let-down. Their hottest salsa was advertised as having habaneros in it but I could not detect any heat. All I saw were some seeds from a chili or jalapeño that had lost its way… Sorry Moe’s but I’d rather spent an extra $ 3 and eat at Agua Linda on Timothy Road.

WELCOMETOMOE’S!!! Our first visit to a Moe’s was just over 4 years ago and we were a little taken aback when we walked in and heard those famous words yelled out. Then, of course, we laughed. Now if we don’t hear them(and yes, some employees are more boisterous than others) we are disappointed. By their own admission, Moe’s offers up «a wide variety of fresh, made-to-order southwest fare» and, indeed, the selection when we have been here is always fresh and tasty and the variety is generous. You can choose from tacos to burritos to quesadillas to salads to nachos and more. They also say they don’t have freezers, don’t use microwaves, animal fat, lard, or MSG. What’s not to love about fresh! I agree with the other reviewer, Sean O., that the names are lots of fun, making for some good ordering entertainment. While you eat your selection«here» and not«to go», you should notice that the music they play is all dead musicians. It’s a nice tribute to talented guys gone. This Moe’s in Athens is a bit different in atmosphere from some of the others we have frequented in that it is in a «college town». Everything’s different in Athens. Gotta love it.

This place is kind of a Chipotle kind of deal, that excels at 2 things. 1. The names of all of the items. I’m probably the only person who cares about this, or even thinks it’s worth talking about in terms of the«quality» of a restaurant, but i love the names they have given to their entrees. For instance, they have a burrito called«Art Vandalay», and a plate of nachos called«Billy Barou». Here are a few other of the choice name nug’s: The Homewrecker(burrito) John Coctostan(quesadilla) Close Talker(salad) Joey Bag of Donuts(burrito) It makes me laugh, which helps me take my mind of the fact that the food is just ok. 2. The salsa bar here is as good as any i have tried, which includes all the salsa bar’s i have been to in my hometown of San Diego, which by all accounts, apparently knows mexican food. And what’s even better than that, is that EVENTHESALSASGETFUNNYNAMES. I mean, who wouldn’t want to dip their chip into some«Kaiser Salsa”(get it? think ‘The Usual Suspects’). Anyways, it’s cheap, and it won’t kill you, and you will probably laugh.
