The hubby and I love Tin Roof, and so does everyone we bring there! Yummy bbq! I could just go there and eat sides-I always have a hard time picking and choosing because they’re all so good! The only suggestion I might have is to bring some of that music inside! We mostly eat outside, and due to the heat, we opted to eat inside… just needed some good music indoors to go along with the good food. :) keep up the good work!

I would actually give this place 3.5. Solid BBQ, good variety of sides. Plenty of places to sit outside of the weathers nice.

When the food is good you can afford to have an attitude — the food did not support the level of attitude in this case. Listen the bbq is good as a person whose lives in Tennessee & Georgia I can attest however — there was 1 kid working there who had his act together everyone else including the owner was rude and disorganized. We came from Arizona to celebrate the graduation of my niece. My sister set up and paid for a party, due to heavy traffic at the graduation some of us go to the tin can earlier — even though my sister had called ahead the room was not ready and since we were all from out of town we had no idea of what we were supposed to be doing and the owner acted like we were intruding. Made my sister cry I will never be back. There was an awesome playground and a band was setting up — the stage was set for a great time but the personnel ruined it.

Great service, great BBQ and great place to hang with the kids when the weather’s nice. Love the live music on the weekends!

I eat here once week, for about 6 years now. As a man who thinks of himself as a BBQ connoisseur, I have yet to find better bbq place in all of Texas. Seasoned red skin potatoes are to die for, and all there smoked meats are absolutely perfect. I live roughly 45 min away but it’s well worth the drive. Infact I look forward to it every week.

Tin Roof BBQ is not all that great! Very pricey for the quality and quantity they serve. I also think this is a local hangout for the street cats.

Great BBQ joint. It’s walk-through buffet style, so even if the line looks long, it doesn’t take long to get though. Awesome, huge outdoor seating, fireplace on the deck when it gets cold, great place for large groups. I had their BBQ baked potato, really hit the spot! A bit expensive, but stacks up to other BBQ places.

The brisket and ribs were dry and not good. The sides lacked flavor and could be much better. The parking was a nightmare and I got my car blocked in by another car. Way better BBQ places around the area so, I won’t be back.

This was my first time visiting this place after so many of my friends raving about it. I went for lunch and it was delicious. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. I debated over a dessert while waiting to pay, as they all looked so good… but decided not to get one and glad like didn’t because I was stuffed from my meal. Definitely will be going back here!

THISISBBQ! Whenever I eat bbq I always compare it to the Pecan Lodge located in Dallas… This place is just as good! The moist brisket is absolutely amazing! The smoke flavor is present but not overbearing! The ribs are fall off the bone! If you want good bbq in Houston it is a definite must try!

Great food, great people, amazing BBQ and smoked flavor. I really liked the brisket and the sides are great. I’m not a fan of the BBQ Chicken, for me it was a bit dry and overcooked. But the brisket and sides more than make up for the dry overcooked chicken. I also want to point out that the staff here are incredibly hospitable, happy, and they do a great job making recommendations from the menu. When the weather is nice, the outdoor seating with fireplace is an excellent experience to cap it all off

Whenever friends and family visit us, we always take them here. I think this is the best place in the area. Their meat always comes out delicious. There was only one time the pork came out dry, but sometimes it happens. I absolutely love their Mac and cheese side! I think it’s cool how they have a cotton candy machine and live music. The ambiance is fun and this place is a cool place to dine and listen to music.

Ordered the Grilled Chicken Salad which was huge and delicious. I am definitely hooked on this salad and get it every time I come here. Place has expanded greatly since I moved here 10 years ago and it’s a very cute place with live bands at times and a place for the kiddos to play outside.

Tin Roof BBQ is located off Hwy 59 in North Houston in Atascocita. Anyone living in the area is very familiar with this large family establishment. Owners Ronnie and Nancy have been at it since 2001 and I am sure glad about that! After many recommendations, it was finally time to come and check this ‘olé BBQ spot out. The rest is history, as they say! As I walked up to the restaurant, I could see that this was not just some old Texas BBQ joint, but so much more! This place is massive! I love the Texas artifacts and signage as it reminds me of just where I am… that is if the smell of smoke bellowing out didn’t do that for me already! There’s a large play area for kids, a number of shaded decks, and even a full stage where they feature live music every week. I gotta come back for that! Inside there are a couple more dining areas for those looking for a little A/C. After making our rounds and seeing all the cool stuff they had on display, we sat down and got ready for a real Texas BBQ feast. You know I ordered a couple of Top Texas Craft Beers, Karbach Weisse Versa Wheat, to be exact. We started out with a couple of apps. Two items grabbed my attention: the Fried Pickles served with ranch dressing and Armadillo Eggs on a bed of Onion Rings. The Fried Pickles came out golden brown as you can see in the photography. When dipped in ranch it’s the cat’s meow — an awesome mixture of dill and cool ranch. Ha! You can’t eat just one… I didn’t even try. And, if you’re not familiar with Armadillo Eggs then you probably aren’t from these parts. An Armadillo Egg has variations, but one of my favorites is the way they do here at Tin Roof BBQ — jalapeño peppers stuffed with chopped beef and deep-fried. Incredible to say the least! I’d be fine eating them as a meal but that would be doing a disservice to the fine people here at Tin Roof. Slow-cooked brisket(14 hours, to be exact) and other meaty goodies are on the agenda. One awesome menu item at the Tin Roof BBQ is the Texas Cheese Steak Sandwich. Similar to a Philly Cheese Steak, the Texas Cheese Steak is thinly-sliced sirloin, melted Provolone cheese, onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms topped with Thousand Island dressing. Insane! Now, I can’t with good conscience send you off to a BBQ joint and ask you to get a cheese steak, can I? Well, I am not one for boundaries and it is a Texas Cheese Steak… so, uh — yeah! This sandwich is unique, full of flavor and outright great! The perfect answer is to share it along with a Three-Meat Plate so you get the best of both worlds! So, just when my mouth was full of thinly-sliced sirloin and Provolone cheese was stringing from my lips, out came the Three-Meat Plate. My eyes grew like those of a deer in headlights. The plot thickens… The Three-Meat Plate, known as The Tin Roof, was amazing! We had chosen smoked sliced brisket, smoked sausage and smoked pork ribs as our meats. They were served with two homemade sauces — BBQ and Smoked Chipotle BBQ. This major league meatfest came with Homemade Baked Beans, Homemade Potato Salad and Toast. My favorite two meats were the slowly-cooked brisket — with just that perfect amount of smoke — and the juicy ribs! To be honest with you, with my eyes bigger than my stomach, I could only take a few bites of the sides, but both were very good! I gotta say… I really like BBQ. Ha! Shocking. I also gotta say I really like the BBQ at The Tin Roof in Atascocita. Everyone has an opinion on the best Texas BBQ, but I think most all of ‘em have their place — just like with Top Texas Craft Beer. Well, I found the perfect place for this BBQ and it is right in my very full belly! Houston has great selection of BBQ restaurants and that is a fact. I can tell you, though, not many have the environment you experience here at Tin Roof BBQ. Not only is the food absolutely outstanding, but with the kids off having fun in the play area, you get a chance to spend time with friends and family discussing the important things in life … like exactly how long should a brisket be cooked. Ha!

Very solid barbecue in a fun and family friendly setting. You wait in line here and order at the cafeteria style counter. Things move along pretty quickly, so don’t be too discouraged if there’s a few people ahead of you. I tried the 2 meat plate with pulled pork and ribs, and both were excellent. Their pulled pork is among the juiciest and tastiest I’ve had, and the ribs are meaty and smoky. The sauce is a perfect match, with that tangy and slightly spicy Texas thing going on. The pinto beans were very good, but I will skip the squash casserole on my next visit, which was just watery summer squash, and try something else. Actually, I’m in line right now for my return visit, so I’ll close now and get some good eats. Enjoy the live tunes, and get some barbecue!

Yes, the reviews are correct about this place. Very good BBQ all around and a cool place to hang out and listen to some music. Sure, it doesn’t have that 50 year history and vibe of the Hill Country joints. No reason to sneer at this place. No, it’s not as good as Franklin’s, Central Market or Smitty’s but it’s better than most of the BBQ in St Louis, Memphis and Kansas City. Good smoke and seasoning. Sauce on the side, not at all sweet. Perfectly cooked ribs, good sausage and great pulled pork. The pulled pork was some of the most tender and juicy I have ever had. Everything was subtle and well prepared. I’ll be back! If you don’t like sweet BBQ beans, get the cowboy pintos. They’re very good. Squash casserole is watery and bland so I’ll try something different next time.

This is one of my most favorite BBQ places ever. Everything is seriously so good. They also have huge potatoes stuffed with meat, steaks, & chicken fried steak but I always end up with the chicken and sausage. The fried okra, beans, Mac & cheese, & broccoli rice casserole are so good. They are my favorite sides. Love that it’s a nice place to relax with a cold beer and some delicious food while the kids play on the playground. Can’t beat this place for family relaxation.

I saw so many great reviews so I thought I’d give the place a shot since I love BBQ. There was an older lady sitting outside with some cats which i figured was the boss. The inside was pretty decent for a Bbq place. As for the food I gotta say it was pretty average. Good but not as great as what I had read. Tried a little bit of everything and probably the ribs were the best. Will I be back? Yes … but only after trying the other BBQ joints in town. :) Update: so I did go back after Nancy’s comment and I gotta say it’s still the same. Had the tin roof plate which is 3 meats and I found the brisket a little dry for my liking. Ribs were good. Sausage was just average. I like the fact that they gave me a roll this time instead of a slice of bread, but it would’ve tasted better if it were warm. Casserole was good. Fries were average — warm not hot. Also tried an oink sandwich. Good but nothing special.

Nice family BBQ place if you are not use to the awesomeness of central TXBBQ. When you first walk in they nicely have the beer/sodas on the left to grab along with your tray. The menu is on the wall also so you have time to pick what you may want early on. The atmosphere is very casual, not divey. When I got to the front of the line there was a nice gentleman and a couple young ladies serving up the food. I ordered the 3 meat plate consisting of brisket, pork ribs and sausage with 2 sides of mac n cheese and mashed potatoes w/gravy. I continued on through the line and paid. You get your condiments, bbq sauce and plastic ware to the right. Considering this was not true central TX bbq the brisket and pork ribs tasted good while warm but I had a hard time eating them when they got cold. The meat got hard. The sausage tasted commercial and was forgettable. The mac n cheese was not very cheesy and and tasted like a processed cheese was used. The mashed potatoes were ok while hot but lost their appeal when they started to cool down. Eat quick or outside if warm! The place was all picnic benches and I sat in the big back room with the wooden floor. There was a larger group who let their children Run wild everywhere to the point that I could feel the movement of the wooden floor constantly. I think the floor is raised off from the ground. Really annoying especially when there was an outside area for the kiddos to play. I wouldn’t go back but I think it’s a good family place for BBQ for families or individuals that are happy with local BBQ. Also a tip… Sit on the narrow side if you don’t want the kiddos to turn the big room into an inside playground or thumping dance floor. There is also a large outside eating area with picnic tables that is covered from the elements. The women’s restroom had a lot of character. You may want to check it out.
