Can’t call to order take out because their phone was busy for 30 minutes! Not a way to run a business that’s always empty… taking my appetite and business elsewhere

Butter naan spring roll Thai fried rice were mouth watering. We went to spiced because they offered an instant groupon and it was so worth it. The food and service were so good that the fact that it was completely empty made me really sad. The only negative is their club like décor. I felt like I was eating lunch in a dark disco tech.

I LOVED this place when it first opened. I was addicted to the Spiced Soup. If I didn’t have it at least once a week I would start going through withdrawl. It was the hottest(as in spicy — hence the name of the restaurant) soup I’ve ever had in my life and so delicious. However, in the year or two since it’s been open the quality of the food has definitely decreased a bit. My biggest complaint would be how inconsistent the food is. Sometimes it’s very good, other times it’s incredibly dissapointing. I don’t know if it’s because they have different chefs on different days, or what, but the food never seems to be the same from week to week. Sometimes the same soup will be sour, sometime sweet, sometimes it will have large chunks of lemongrass floating in it, which is super annoying. And it’s like that with all the food we’ve ordered. Very hit or miss. I’ve never eaten in the restaurant itself, only take out. But I’d agree with most of the atmospheric comments. It’s a bit strange, not very cozy. Lots of neon all around. I feel like it’s trying too hard to be a trendy manhattan restaurant and not succeeding at all. I still order from here probably about every two to four weeks or so, depending on my mood, but I definitely miss how the food was prepared when it first opened.

Definitely not a place to go with a large crowd. Went to this place for a friend’s birthday dinner and had THE worst experience ever! Some of us waited almost 2 hours for our food, and that’s after waiting an hour just to order! We had to cancel our other plans because it took so long just for dinner. No one even came out once to acknowledge that it was taking an unusual amount of time, forget about an apology. We had to argue with them to get only a 10% discount for their horrible service, that’s after they added an 18% «service charge»! Comparing to other Indian style Chinese/Thai(Tangra, Sagar, etc) food was less than decent!

Weird This place is a little odd. The sorta childlike plastic colorful décor, ornate plates and tables, nice napkins, lukewarm drinking water and almost universally empty restaurant just seems confused. It’s decent value for money and the food is actually fairly tasty. Lunch special is a really great deal. The place just seems like it would benefit from a Gordon Ramsay style makeover and a jolt of energy since so often it’s deserted.

The food was good, should maybe be a 4*. But I wanted a solid indian curry, like I say the food tastes great, its just not the indian food I know. The portions were more lunch than dinner. The Mrs had the Manchurian Chicken, which was a pleasant meal. I had the Chicken Korma extra hot, odd I know, but it was me that asked for it that way. For some reason the tiny naan bread was brought to our table way before the food, so was gone, the naan was good but made with white flour so had a different but pleasant texture, we orderd more. Inc dumplings and some sodas, $ 33 + tip The lunch menu looks like a bargain! Conclusion: will come back for lunch, but not dinner.

I want to enter this restaurant into a competition to remodel the space and retrain the managers. Because the food is just too good to stay away. Tried the pad see ew for the first time, which made me fall in love with pad see ew all over again. It used to be my favorite Thai dish, but at some point it got too sweet for me and I started avoiding it. But give it a Spiced kick, and it’s amazing!(I’m a vegetarian, and on the regular I ask them to add tofu to my vegetable dishes, which they always nicely do. The combo of Chinese broccoli, tofu and noodles was lovely.) All this in spite of the manager talking meanly to our server in front of all of us. The credit card machine wasn’t working, which seems to happen more frequently these days. The background music is similar to droning«smooth jazz». I want to give them CDs of downtempo tracks, classical Indian music — anything to stop the drone. And I would really appreciate some serious alteration, preferably complete removal, of certain items of furniture — including but not limited to the plexiglass hanging bar rack inspired by a Trapper-Keeper ‘s cover, and the flourescent blacklit wall that reminds me of a seedy part of Miami in the mid-90s. I complain, but I will come back for the food cuz it’s fabulous. But sooner or later, I’m going to have to limit myself to takeout.

Oh, man! I stopped here for takeout tonight just because it looked kind of neat from the outside, and I was really in the mood for curry. I ordered with the hostess, and she told me it would be ready in about 10 minutes. So I walked around for a little bit and came back in 13 minutes. I handed her my credit card and asked if my food is ready. She said, «I was just walking to the back to go grab it for you.» Cool! So, she swipes the card and then leisurely heads in the direction of the back of the restaurant. On her way to the back, she takes 2 tables’ orders and checks up on another to see if they need anything. She then goes to the back and comes out with a set of silverware for a table. Then she slowly walks up to me at the front with nothing else in hand. She then proceeds to take the takeout order of a couple that has just come in. Finally, she looks at me and says, «Oh, yours’ll be another 3 minutes. have a seat over here.» I understand that I’m not the only customer there, but the slow series of events was too weird — none of the other customers were clamoring to be served, and she had just told me she was going to grab my stuff. The food was almost another 10 minutes. I’m really«glad» the food turned out to be terrible because at least there will be no moral conflict about having to patronize a place with bad service. The cauliflower manchurian was bathed in a soupy liquid(I’m used to a much drier texture — think buffalo wings. The only flavor on the chili tofu was salty and spicy. I love curry more than most things in this universe, and I couldn’t eat more than a bite of either dish. The second I opened up all of the stuff at home, I phoned another curry place in the neighborhood, and the food was here in 20 minutes. They’re about to receive a positive review. :)

I dont know why this place gets such a bad rap. I think it was pretty good for what it is, a decent indo-thai-rice joint! The waitress was nice as could be and I didn’t have any problems paying cash. Of course it would be a little more helpful if they displayed that on the menu or outside but I think they may accept cards now im not sure. Anyways it was cheap as chips there anyways so people who complain about«walking 30 min to an atm» you’re telling me you don’t have 25 $ on you for dinner for 2? Inside is nice as well people were taking pictures while we were eating which was a little weird but whatever and also a plus when we were there it was BYOB… that’s a star in my book although not everything is a hit like people say the papaya salad wasn’t as great as I thought it would be but overall take it for what it is a nice cheap basic night with loads of options!

This place was absolute s***. First, their dinner specials did not start until 8:00pm, which was not shown on either the menu outside or inside, and they didn’t tell us until after we had already ordered and waited. Then, they only accept cash but don’t have an ATM in the area. If you don’t accept card, then you have to be worth it, IMO, and they were severely not worth it. Also, only accepting cash requires you to have some sort of signage, either outside or inside, of which there was none. Their pad thai was the wettest, most peanut-drenched puddle of overcooked noodles I’ve ever tasted. If you can’t do pad thai, you shouldn’t be doing thai at all. Then as I left the establishment, the waitress wasn’t happy with her tip, gave me a rude look(AFTER I had to walk 20 minutes to get to the nearest ATM with my bank just to pay the bastards), and said«you’re welcome» in a snarky tone. She didn’t deserve anything, what with the attitude and(lack of) service. I will NEVER go to this establishment again. Don’t be fooled by the interior– they spent all their money on the inside, not on their staff. Ridiculous.

Well spiced is an appropriate name because even the mild items are very spicy. I will never eat here again. I can deal with spicy but the shards of broken glass in my cauliflower i could do without. I can only imagine how nasty this kitchen is that broken glass could actually be cooked into the food. I took photos and filed a complaint with 311, please eat with caution.

While at first I was mocking the whole chinese-indian concept, when I learned that this was an actual cuisine very popular in Inda, I had to give it a try. I’ve never eaten in the restaurant, but have gotten delivery about 6 times now and feel I’ve got a good feel for the menu. I stick with the chinese indian food, and particularly like anything done in the chili sauce dry. The Chili paneer is my favorite by far. The soups are all thickened most likely with corn starch that gives them a texture I’m not into. But my wife likes them so I guess its just a matter of taste. Fried rice was great but expensive. I’ve only given them three stars is that not all the dishes are hits. We ordered the califlower manchurian and it was a gloppy mess. And the food is on the greasy side. But when i’ve stuck to the dishes prepared ‘dry’ we r peasently surprised with spicy, flavorful chow

So I ordered this off SeamlessWeb, which is great because I was able to pay via credit card. I was impressed because it said it would be there in 30 – 40 minutes and 35 minutes later, there it was! And then the delivery guy even apologized for being late. Wow. Anyway, I ordered the fried okra appetizer, the broccoli & baby corn dish w/brown bean sauce, chicken makhani and garlic naan. I was surprised by the OCDness of the menu, but everything was great. I loved the fried okra, which had a bit of spice to it and weren’t overly fried. The broccoli & baby corn dish is just what it says but tasty. My favorite was definitely the chicken makhani though, and the garlic naan was big enough for my entire dish. I wouldn’t mind if it was a little crispier, but that’s just me. I would definitely order from this place again.

There’s something weird about the food prep time from this place. When we order delivery, it’s unbelievably lightning fast: on average, it gets here in under 20 minutes. But it’s much slower when you eat in; it once took over 20 minutes just for our soup to come out, and another half hour for our entrees. It wasn’t even busy — we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. The food itself is good-to-okay. It’s all rather oily, but I do love the Thai Fried Rice. Their Indian menu is okay, but if you’re looking for Indian food in Astoria you’re probably better off going to Seva.

This place sucks. Warm water served to us. Ran out of Diet Coke. Brown Rice tasted like porridge. When we told the manager, he replied by telling us «Yeah, they overcooked it». Come on man… you know there’s something wrong, be proactive not reactive. One star because I didn’t pay for the meal and the waitress/hostess tried. They serve Chinese, Thai and Indian… but I don’t think for much longer…

Ordered for delivery by phone. Lady said it would take about 30 minutes, the guy does not show up until 1 hour. Putting the slow the delivery aside, the food was fine. The Pad Thai was surprisingly done right. Most places usually get that wrong. The food had a good spice to it(just like their restaurant name) but it is a bit on the unhealthy side since the food was quite oily. This could be just cause of the slow delivery in the winter but the food got super cold super quickly. Overall the food tasted fine but the prices are not worth it.

I have eaten here atleast 6 times or so, sine they have no liquor license as of my last dinner, it is usually never crowded. You can enjoy a non-rushed dinner . The music is kept to a minimum level as well. The restaurant originally started out as CHinese with Indian and Thai flavors and spices. They have now incorporated Indian dishes as well. The one dish I recommend is the sweet chili fish. It is excellent, just the right amount of sweetness and spice. My only critique is that I wish the portions were larger. For an Indian restaurant though it already is big. Most Indian restaurants you will get 4 pieces of fish for 12 dollars, Spiced gives about 8 for 11. So you already come out ahead here.

I have eaten at the restaurant, and have gotten food delivered. The restaurant is neither especially bad, nor particularly good. The chinese food is okay. Hot and sour soup with chicken is pretty standard. The chicken in the schezuan chicken was of good quality. I’ve gotten a couple other dishes, but they are not especially flavorful. The rice is fine. The schezuan rice and fresh lime drink are both pretty good. I got the naan once, because it looked good, but it was cold and buttery in a bad way; it was also a little garlicy even though it was normal naan. I’ll continue getting delivery from here occasionally, and think this is a good place for a group of zabihah eaters, but don’t really recommend this place more generally.

Oof. I don’t like to write reviews like this, but definitely feel the need to chime in. Ordered delivery through Seamless Web. Confirmation email said the food would arrive in 30 – 45 minutes. Ninety minutes later, we got our grub. And this Spiced Soup that everyone’s been hailing hit me with a nasty case of food poisoning that leveled me for a solid 24 hours. I’m aware that late deliveries(and even food poisoning to some level) can happen almost anywhere, but both in one shot? Adiós, Spiced. We had a brief, and not so fruitful run.

I was pleasantly surprised here. I avoided Spiced at first, I think because I was associating it with East Moon Asia Bistro(or whatever the cuss it was called) and I had a bad experience there. The décor is odd, but I really like this food. We had this yummy cauliflower appetizer that was fried with ginger and garlic and we split the schezwan noodles(really spicy!)and schezwan eggplant. There are a lot of veg options on the menu and it’s all reasonably priced. Great addition to the neighborhood.
