Prices for drinks weren’t bad, and the steins were bigger than I expected. But I wasn’t impressed by the food at all. Snowdonia burger wasn’t good — overly greasy and heavy on the onions — and sweet potato fries were burnt to a crisp. Side of Mac and cheese was spiralized pasta with cheese sprinkled on top, wasn’t even fully melted. I won’t be ordering food here again; the decent beer selection and good waitstaff is its only saving grace.

The food is superb. Like pub food but much more advanced. There is a huge snowstorm right now and I can’t believe how high quality they’re keeping this place while the rest of the city is closed. I think the whole neighborhood is here, enjoying every second. The beer list? Cultivated and perfect. But don’t discount the cocktails and liquor selection. For the little Welsch pub that could, this is the best place to be.

I wasn’t too pleased with the food. The price surely isn’t worth it either. I took a photo of the burger. But don’t get it wrong it was okay just didn’t leave me with a satisfied feeling. The item I paid was the Pretzel Byrgyr at $ 13.00 which consists of a 6 oz. beef patty, beer soaked kraut, German mustard and Brie served on pretzel bun. Served with fries. The idea that it was on a Pretzel just made my mind very happy and my tummy excited. But this sandwich was lacking the Pretzel taste and hardly any mustard was placed on it. I was expecting a little more from them. I might try another burger from them but not anytime soon. The staff was very friendly.

While Snowdonia is cozy and warm, and the beer list is pretty decent, the food is very poor. The menu has been tweaked a few times in the last couple of years and obviously there’s been frequent turnover in the kitchen. Shepherds pie is a cheesy mess, Welsh Rarebit is essentially bruschetta, and the long list of sandwiches are plain and tasteless. The original menu, which had some unusual«Welsh» dishes, has mostly vanished. Several times the sides were served lukewarm and the fries are straight from Burger King. Burgers usually cooked well-done regardless of how they’re ordered. Overall, below average pub food is what you get at Snowdonia. Lastly, the people who work there seem preoccupied with each other and themselves — on their phones, talking to each other, taking up spots at the bar, and generally frustrating the customers. To add insult to injury, I was charged for a drink I had previously paid for at the bar. NOTRECOMMENDED.

Unique-ish brunch options in a bar! Loved their Welsh cheese mix. Vegetarian options too! Go for it.

First time ordering, terrible experience. This order was through seamless. Ordered their two highest rated burgers, medium rare, that came medium-well and cold. Bacon was raw, fries were cold, soggy and the cheapest fries you can buy From baldor(food purveyor). I’ll give seamless some of the blame for the delivery,(10% mandatory minimum delivery tip, hour and 15 +minutes delivery time) but how snowdonia handled the complaint is why so few stars. We called and they refused to to give us new food or refund. I had to spend 25 minutes calling seamless, making such a big deal about this awful experience, before I could get a refund. $ 16 a piece for these, I’ve seen better at McDonald’s dollar menu.

Horrible experience! First time ordering from here and I’ll never be back. Burger is over cooked. Fries are cold. Coleslaw is warm. Just totally nasty. AND it took an hour and a half to be delivered. There beef blend is also pretty bad. In a place with bareburger and burger club as your competition, you need to really step it up… Especially, for the $ 16 price point. And for $ 16 you could at least do some quality fries, not this processed frozen crap.

Came here on a Saturday before a screening at The Museum of Moving Image, around 1:30. The space was really inviting with lots of natural light, and the décor was a little rustic, with dark wood, but also very trendy. My friend and I both ordered burgers, which come with double patties, smoked Gouda, and onions. The Gouda gave the burger a very interesting flavor and it melted really well. The fries cost extra but they’re worth it. There’s a great beer selection and the bartender was knowledgable about what she was serving. Was very pleased with the service — everyone was very friendly. My favorite part? The check arrived between the pages of an old romance novel! There’s a great bookshelf in the bathroom. I wonder if that compels people to stick around longer… Haha. If you’re looking for a quick bite after a day at the museum, this will fit the bill!

Most ridiculous deal I ever had. They have served a half lobster for two people. Steak was not good either. i will never go back here. Very disappointing

We stopped by the other night for a quick bite before the movies. We started off with a few beers. They have a decent offering which is nice but the food was a bit disappointing. My wife was craving S’MAC so I brought her here for the next best thing: Mac & Cheese Burger. The reviews said it was good so we had high expectations. I was up in the air between the Avocado Burger and the British Burger but with the waitress’ help, I went with the latter. The M&C burger, according to the wife, was extremely bland. Before she delved into it, she commented about the lack of dressing on the burger. After biting into it, she said it had no seasoning whatsoever. We asked for hot sauce and they brought us two near-empty bottles of the regular Tobasco sauce and the green Tobasco sauce. When I saw«near-empty,» I literally mean a few drops at most. The British Burger was nothing to write home about. It had onions. It had bacon. But it was also on the bland side, even with dressing on it and I’m one person who does not like his food salty either. I’ve been wanting to come back here since my first attempt to eat here when they first opened(their kitchen wasn’t ready so we didn’t stay). I must say it was a bit disappointing, at least for what we chose. I think this might be more of a snack and pub eats kinda spot as opposed to a dinner spot. Maybe I’ll come back one day… maybe.

I want to give this pub a higher rating, but feel 3 stars is about right. I had the infamous Mac and cheese burger and I gotta say… It made me really sick. Mostly bc I normally eat pretty healthy, and this was a VERY solid burger. The Mac n cheese patties are fried, which our of the gates, makes this a very heavy meal. The burger is substantial, and getting it cooked medium just sent my system into process overdrive! That said, the service here is very friendly and responsive. It’s a really nice neighborhood pub. They have a nice selection of beers and drinks. The prices are decent and the vibe is ultra casual and low key. Not a lot of seating, bc it’s a fairly small establishment. But we never have problem getting seated or served, even at peak hours. It’s a great place for all the meals and if the selections were a wee bit healthier, I’d give it even more stars. We go here every once in a while and love that it’s in the neighborhood!

First time at this pub. Groupon lead us here for some surf and turf. I have learned in my travels that small pubs sometimes have the best grub. The food was better than good it was FANTASTIC and so was the service. We are becoming huge fans of Astoria and our visit here just sealed the deal. I will be coming back during happy hour(4pm-7pm) to try some of their interesting and super cheap apps. Two thumbs up!

I debated between three stars and four stars. The food was delicious for brunch, and the service was very friendly, which argued for a higher rating. The problem was that the service and food were also ridiculously slow. We waited almost 45 minutes after ordering for breakfast, Also, Snowdonia didn’t have two of the four items our party ordered – the first(brisket) they knew they were out of when we ordered, but the second(smoked salmon) they somehow didn’t know about until over 20 minutes after we ordered. If the place was a little more organized and speedier this would be a terrific spot for brunch. As it is, I’d rate it a 3.5 stars, rounding up for the very good food.(I wouldn’t recommend the Laverbread, which was our only disappointment – this traditional Welsh item made with seaweed, lemon zest & oatmeal seems like an acquired taste.)

Huge disappointment. BLAND food. We had wanted to try this place for some time. We will not be back. If I could stand outside and personally dissuade people from coming in, I would. Ordered the corn and chicken wings from the happy hour menu as appetizers. The corn was supposed to have cayenne on it which you would think would impart some sort of kick, but did not. The«dragon wings» sounded great with Old Bay seasoning(though how this is «Welsh inspired» I have no idea) but had no taste. None. I’m from Baltimore and can recognize Old Bay. There was none on these wings I promise you. The entrees were even worse. They were, in fact, nasty. My fish and chips arrived in a puddle of water and tasted of nothing. Correction: they tasted like burnt batter. My wife’s shepherd’s pie was leeks and cream with a little bit of tasteless ground lamb mixed in. Both of these dishes were advertised on the menu as Snowdonia specialties. Sad. None of the food had any seasoning. The menu has no identity(Coney Island hot dogs is «Welsh»?). To top it all off, the service was slow and disinterested. Honestly though I don’t really care about the service if the food is good. It is not. It is not even close. This place is terrible. Do not be fooled by the other reviews. AVOID.

- I’ve been here a few times now and I just realized that I haven’t reviewed it yet… this is unfortunate because I love this place! Snowdonia is a Welsh-inspired gastropub that gets its name from a region(and national park) in northern Wales. They very much have a «I’m going to go skiing on some badass ski slopes as soon as I down this fantastic craft beer» kind of vibe to them. Awesome craft beer(mostly local! Yay!) selection aside, I’ve eaten here a few times and always been really pleased with my food. Things I’ve had include: their mashed potatoes, Mac n’ cheese, chicken wings, French fries and their Mac n’ Cheese burger(I had about 2 bites, it was ordered by my boyfriend and Snowdonia uses my Instagram photo for it in lots of their social media efforts — I don’t mind, it’s a great photo and an even better amazing sandwich made by an artist employed at Snowdonia’s kitchen). Pretty sure I could whip up a paragraph on their Mac n’ Cheese burger. It was a thing of beauty and a fine example of culinary excellence. Bartenders and wait staff here have always been friendly, efficient and just really cool people. Sunday night trivia here is a hoot and although I’ve only gone 3 times(because I revere lazy Sundays so that I’m bright-eyed and bushy tailed for Monday’s at work) it’s always been a really good time. I once even won for«best trivia team name» thanks to my boyfriend’s name«IPA4 U»…or something to that effect, lol. Snowdonia, I salute you! Thank you for coming into my life and into the life of Astorians everywhere! * __________________________________ * Just kidding about«Astorians everywhere». Queens is a lucky borough to have you :).

I think the chef of this place should go to the british got talent show… who said they can’t cook? My oyster sandwich was so delicious, as well the hummus sticks were very tasty. I like the laid back atmosphere too. The only thing I found weird was that I had to sit and eat in front of a mirror… really weird feeling to see yourself eating.

Cute neighborhood bar with the friendliest staff and great menu. Since coming here, the menu has changed but always had very interesting choices. My most recent visit, I tried the Glenmorgans which was a leek and cheese«sausage» lightly battered and fried. It came with a creamy dip. It could even pass for vegetarian fish sticks. The smoked wings had a great flavor but since you get the whole entire wing, it was a bit of effort to wrestle the meat off the bones stretching and pulling until you can get it all. On specific days of the week, there are trivia, 2 for 1 entrees with secret passwords(found on Facebook), deals and specials. Had so much fun watching RuPaul’s Drag Race on a Monday night! This is definitely a place for locals and a welcoming atmosphere for everyone else as well. Great that this place is part of the neighborhood.

The ambiance here is still«old» Astoria, which I love. The crowd is very diverse. You can tell that there are a few regulars at the bar. Bartenders were pretty good at handling a busy brunch crowd. My friend got the Crispy Fish and I got the Pork & Egg sandwich. My friend was a little frightened not realizing that it was a sandwich, and not just that– a HUGE sandwich. Her crispy fish had a huge piece of fish, cucumbers and a tasty mayo. The pork and egg had a good helping of egg, and some pieces of pork, but I wish there had been some other sortof sauce, maybe like a NC vinegar based sauce. It also seemed like I had a lot less pork than my friend had fish. I also wish the bread had been a little crispy, maybe toasted. Good beers on tap, very extensive whisky selection which is great. I also tried their Smoky mountain cocktail which was AWESOME.

It’s a fairly new addition to the area but it’s kinda away from everything else. It’s a very neighborhood kinda place. It’s dark as hell inside, but it’s small and intimate. It’s a nice place to just chill out and grab some beers and light eats. The day I went, every table was full but it didn’t feel crowded at all and I liked that. The beer selection was respectable. The food: Fish and Chips– classic beer-battered fish with mushy peas and fries. The fish was a huge piece, it had nice flavor and was crunchy but it was slightly greasy. The fries were nice and crunchy. The mushy peas were ok, nothing really too exciting about mushy peas, if you know what I mean. I would order this again, though.
