Once a staple among the community as a great place to get a pizza, that has surely ended. Order the special, large pie, extra cheese, the cheese is always running inside the box creating on big soupy mess. Decided OK, let me order without the extra cheese, so what do I get? A pizza that is still a soupy mess just less soup. I have given this place time and time and money for years but it is clear that in my case anyway they no longer care about the quality of their food and since that is the case I will no longer frequent their establishment.

One of the better NY style pizzerias in Astoria. The crust, sauce and cheese are what you would expect from a neighborhood favorite. They are our need dinner quickly go to place. Quick friendly service even when it’s quite busy.

The line of cars regularly double parked outside says enough about how good this place is. If you want a good representation of what a slice should be go here and get a large pie, you’ll eat the whole thing.

I have been living a few blocks away from this pizzeria for over 6 years. It is my favorite slice in all of New York. Its the traditional plain cheese slice that can signify a nyc slice. Never disappoints… and the service is great.

Staying in Astoria for 2 months and my roommate told me this is the best place for pizza and I have to agree. Amazing thin crust pizza and such nice people who work there. I’m definitely going to be eating lots of pizza while I am here.

Great pizza. A thinner and more crispy crust than nearby Samaria Pizza, but Samaria’s meatballs and excessive amount of cheese beat out Calabro’s. They also have excellent garlic knots. Not hardened and dried, but soft and doughy.

They have a pizza with spaghetti on it. Go back and re-read that sentence again. Now tell me you wouldn’t order that just to see what the hell it would taste like. I did, and it was so full of carbs. In addition to spaghetti, the«Diva» pie also had chicken, eggplant and ricotta. Interesting enough, though once was enough. Also ordered a plain cheese, which was acceptable. Delivery guy was 10 minutes late though.

I’ve been going to this pizza place since I was a toddler. I remember as a boy, he’d slip in a small handful of mozzarella for me to eat while he’d make a fresh pie for my parents. The pizza was always great. 18 years later. I’ve tried other famous pizza places like lombardi’s, grimaldi’s, etc. To this day, I still put the pizza Calabro’s on par with the high-end tourist spots even though it’s a neighborhood shop. The only other difference is that it’s less of a wait and it’s closer to me. Best to get it by the pie. They always make it fresh. In addition, you can always trust this italian man to make the finest pizza in all of queens. Since coming back from college, I’m certainly glad to see that he’s been getting some awards for his pizza!

Really did not like their marinara sauce, but the spinach calzone was pretty good. Their pizza isn’t all that bad either.

The garlic knots are disgusting! Basically hard bread rolls no garlic whatsoever maybe a sprinkle of garlic powder? So disappointed

Cheap is cheap. We ordered takeout from here on a Saturday night using solely based on the one $ rating and location. After a frustrating experience with , our order took 45 minutes to arrive. Our 2 pizzas and garlic bites were lukewarm. We ordered a half cheese/half mushroom pizza. The mushrooms were canned not fresh, and the crust was stale and rubbery– you really had to work hard to bite it. The second pizza we got included a hair on top. Gross. The garlic bites arrived without the advertised marinara sauce on the side. The garlic bites were ok, also tough like the crust of the pizza, and while the seasoning was good, they were lacking without the marinara sauce. I don’t think we would order from here again.

My experience differs than majority of reviews. It’s unfortunate because I placed an order based on them — large pie with sausage and peppers. The crust was blah and the overall pizza was meh. Service is great! The guys are really friendly. When it comes down to pizza, I would order from here with hesitation.

I’m not sure if I ordered on an off night, but I don’t get it. It was a bland slice of pizza. The cheese texture was great, the slices were huge, the look of it was perfect, but when I bit into it… nothing. No salt in the mozzarella? The wings were stuck to the bottom of the pan and had the chili flakes, just sitting on the chicken. I’m still on the search for a good pizza place in Astoria.

This is my go-to New York pizzeria-style place. It’s a great neighborhood joint. I’ve ordered delivery on Seamless a bunch and have never been disappointed. What more can I say? When you want a solid plain pie, this is the place.

Best Pizza Pie in the neighborhood for 40 years. A little 4 stool pizzeria with Italia football posters on the wall, a TV playing soccer, and a Daily News on the counter. A pizza place for real New Yorkers who don’t want garbage like buffalo chicken or pineapple on their slices.

So Good. «Brothers» across the street is a joke. Go get a slice of cheese and some knots, watch the soccer game, dig Calabro man — thirty years strong and that accent ain’t gone anywhere. watch out for gene. also, the laundromat next store is nice and«la antigua» bodega catawampus is a solid spot. Get another slice to go and eat it at the socrates sculpture park.

Food: 5⁄5 Service: 5⁄5 Cleanliness: 2⁄5 Décor & Style: 2⁄5 Another hole in the wall here. Excellent food and the owner is super nice. Quiet area in Astoria so you’ll get the true authentic Italian pizza greatness. It seems as though only regulars come here. Small place so not good for groups. More of a «grab a slice» right after work kinda place. It’s so authentic that even the Asian guy sitting next to me was speaking fluent Italian to the owner! Four outta Five.

We’ve ordered from S&S on two separate occasions now and they are pretty good. The first time we just got a plain pie and it was really good. The second time we ordered a large assortment of food for a small party and it was good, but not great. The second order was on the later side, so maybe that had something to do with the quality as they were closing in thirty minutes. The regular pizza is really good. The«everything» pizza(I forgot the name they call it) was a hit with some guests, but a little too crazy for my liking. The meatball pizza was eh, as was the meatball hero. Chicken parm hero was pretty good. Mozz sticks were soggy. Price is regular for pizza. We will continue to seek out a great pizza place in the area for the few times we order pizza, but I wouldn’t hesitate to fall back on S&S and just stick with the basics.

Avoid slices, go to Samaria for that on the 21st Street /Broadway Plaza. The pizza is good, I just feel that pies are far better than slices. Sandwiches are great, BUT… I feel they’ll microwave em on delivery, but oven heat them in person. Calabro Sr. and Jr. are good people. From what I’ve seen it’s a 3 man operation, a genuine first generation Italian in Mr. Calabro, his son and a spanish guy who sounds suspiciously Italian. LOL… good pizza, but honestly I feel like you should go in person… get pies delivered, but not much else. Pizzeria is a counter and 4 stools. There’ll probably be soccer on the tube and silence.
