Damn good smoked pork belly and pork shoulder sandwiches with slaw on a really fine bun; a bit sloppy which is EXACTLY what I want each time. Been going here for the past couple of months and I cannot seem to deviate from those two items, they’re too tasty to pass up! I’ll try to experiment, but it’s gonna be difficult…

Natures Taste could quite possibly be the best kept secret of Astoria. For those whom appreciate barbecue this is the place for you. Let’s have some real talk shall we? Barbecue is not grilled. It’s not«barbecue» sauce slathered on top. It’s not southern. Barbecue is smoked meat. Period. It’s also an art form. Some cities pride themselves so highly on this delicacy that it even goes by territory. For example, west Memphis has distinguishably different barbecue than north Memphis. Barbecue is different in Hong Kong, China than it is in Warsaw, Poland. It’s the way the animal was raised and treated and slaughtered, it’s how the wood grew and how it burns to smoke the meat, it’s the smoker, it’s the preparation, the bread, the sauce, and the presentation. I could go on, but you get the point. The people at Natures Taste know this, and we should be grateful they’re our neighbors in Astoria. The chefs here follow the journey from farm to fork, thus Natures Taste. Although barbecue has become American, it’s not quite New York City. That’s because with such tall buildings, the exhaust system from the smoker would be too expensive to build. For example, real barbecue at the Empire State Building would probably be the most expensive BBQ, since there would have to be an exhaust system taller than the building. SO, instead of leaving the city for this delicacy, come to Astoria and try the work of master barbecuers at Natures Taste. You might even get a tour of the smoker! Everything here is the real deal and I will be back for more!

The food here is incredible. The meat tastes so… clean… You can certainly taste the organic difference. Aside from the superb quality of the meat, though, the food is well-prepared with creative specials like pork shoulder tacos with radishes and chipotle mayo. Be sure to get the pork shoulder sandwich, topped with fresh, not-too-mayo-y coleslaw and bbq sauce. the portion is generous, and is a great meal for under $ 10. This place should be packed with customers due to the friendly service, location, and excellent food. People of Ditmars, get it together and eat here regularly before we lose this gem.

The bbq and the meat cuts are excellent, everything come from a farm in long island, the size of their chicken are ridiculous huge almost a turkey size(free run) if you have plans this summer for a bbq stop by and get your meat at this location.

We actually live close to this place but haven’t ever really noticed it which is unfortunate. We googled some restaurants in our neighborhood because we felt like trying something new and this came up. We never noticed it before because their interior is really not that inviting, for a place that is supposed to be known as a healthy meat/food place it looks more like a deli/diner. We had a bacon burger and fries and a chicken gyro. The chicken gyro was actually pretty good, but the burger was not that great, it had loads and loads of onion in it, and the bacon that was inside the burger was very chewy and not done which made it really hard to it. The even more unfortunate thing was that we were overcharged for it, so most likely we won‘t be really combing back soon.

Amazing meats! The 6-hour-smoked brisket is as good, if not better, than any I’ve ever had in Austin, Atlanta or New Orleans. The pork belly literally melts in your mouth. And the prosciutto is amazingly fresh. This is seriously good food, and it’s all from a farm, like, 50 miles away that THEYOWN! Make a pilgrimage and come try this YESTERDAY!

Best roasted chicken!!! Perfectly crisp on the outside, moist and juicy inside! I call in advance and it is ready when I need it. At $ 20 it is a fabulous deal for a free range organic chicken.

It’s super delicious! You have to try the brisket, it’s smoked to perfection and it tastes great. The corn bread is out of this world and I’ve tried a lot of corn bread and theirs is by far the best I’ve had. The food here is wholesome and delicious!

this place was super delicious !!! they offered a taste of each of the meats when I couldnt decide. and it wasnt no little nibble but enough to actually taste the meat! and i have to say every one was better than the last !!! the chief is serving an award winning brisket that surpassed what was expected. the price seemed a little steep until i got home and opened my dish and it was erupting with mouth watering brisket, pork belly and grilles veggies!!! definitely a must have for Astoria!

I was so happy to see this place open up, but I have to say it did not deliver at all. I was hoping for some tasty organic chickens, and I was willing to try one that was not organic it was«natural», and I have to say it was like eating a rubber. I did mention that to one of the owners once I went back to give them second chance, and they told me that their chicken rome around so the tenderness comes from that. I buy my chickens from Union Square markets and even thought they rome around the farm they do not taste like they are rubbery and too old. They have some crazy price tag for $/lb for that chicken. Not sure how they came up with that price tag! On another occasion I tried the lamb, and it was just not tasty. I also was hoping for those orange yumm yolks from their eggs and it did not deliver on that front either. The emptiness of the place does not make it great shopping experience either. I have to give them 2 starts for the effort but I hope they can step up their game!

Good combo BBQ/gyro spot. Family that owns this also owns a farm in LI that they source their meat from. Also have an in-house smoker, so the brisket is very good. Had the brisket platter(14 bucks) which could easily feed 2 ppl.

The first time I got the brisket here, it was AWESOME. Very tasty, the roll was nice and plump and neither too hard or too soft. The meat was tender. Next two times? Brisket was very tough and fatty.(If you consider yourself a BBQ place you should know how to make consistently good meat.) As for the fries, there were just ‘ok’. A bit ‘flaccid’, but maybe that was because it took me about 15 minutes before I opened up the box and ate them. Or maybe it was because they didn’t leave any skin on the fries?(It seems that fries with skin seem to hold up better… not be so mushy…) While waiting for my order I looked around at their other offerings in the case. I see they sell organic regular milk and chocolate milk in glass bottles. Nice. I also saw those frozen air-pak type packages of some meats… I think they said ‘from a local farm’, which leads me to think they might also be free range/antibiotic free? It wasn’t 100% clear. This place seems a bit confused… like it needs more clear ‘direction’. Otherwise, I just don’t see this place lasting much longer… They have shelves with various items for sale in jars… olives, tapenades, coffee beans… that type of thing… but they also sell lots of locally-raised grass-fed meats and eggs, plus they sell cooked BBQ meats and rotisserie chicken. Why aren’t their meats and eggs for sale more advertised out front, and since there is no other place in the immediate area that sells local meats and eggs? Another reason they should advertise this fact more is… from the outside, they appear to be a BBQ-only place. Many people looking for cooked BBQ meats aren’t necessarily the same types of people for whom being able to buy packaged meats from a local farm is important. And vice versa… people in the nabe who are focused on buying meats and eggs etc. from a local farm, may not necessarily be into BBQ food, and so may have no idea of their offerings inside their shop. So they are losing huge potential to tap into another market of customers who may only want to come in to buy the meats or eggs from their farm in Long Island. P. S. to owners: I saw on the bottom of this Unilocal page that all your meats are antibiotic free, but I don’t recall seeing that indicated anywhere in your shop. I recommend you make that fact more prominent on your menu boards and in your meat case, as antibiotic-free meat is very important to me and many other people. Thanks!

One of the best pork gyros I ever had. The meat is soft but yet has a crisp to it. A lot of flavor but they should cut down on the salt the portions are generous it’s a lot of meat and a huge gyro. The décor is bleh but I was interested bc I love new places and I love gyros. Def would recommend

REALLY want this place to do well and I hope they do! But when I went in everything is bare. Barely anything in display cases, hardly anything in the coolers. Lighting is pure yellow fluorescent and walls are completely bare. It sticks out from the street in a negative way and It’s depressing. i’m wondering why they opened. If ownership properly stocked and invested some money into design this place would do well. I cannot comment on the food because I left before buying anything. UPDATE: They finally put something on their windows: Hand written specials on multiple colored construction paper. Update 2 I tried it and like it a lot. Meat quality is good. The lighting can be a lot better. So much fluorescence. Spend some cash and CHANGEIT. Plus when I went they were out of 2 things I asked for. If they step it up, this is a gold mine. Next update Ordered 2 more times, both times they didn’t have what I ordered on the menu. I pass by and the hostess is slouched over bored out of her mind. Stopped by several says ago and it was closed 2 hours early. Still nothing in the coolers. Not sure how long this place will be able to survive.

This is the best brisket I’ve ever had. Might have something do to with the fact that all their beef is local, grass fed beef. They also have a bunch of fun grocery items, including organic eggs. I will definitely be back. I was advised to call ahead for the beef brisket, as it sells out fast! A must try in Astoria.
