Excellent, excellent restaurant! I’ve been coming here for years now, and the food is always stellar. The roti, curry chicken, jerk chicken, mac and cheese rice and peas, all amazing! I’m West Indian and hard to please, but this is my go to restaurant in Queens.

I love this place. The curry chicken and mac and cheese are fantastic. I get the pineapple soda, too. The price is very good and the portions are huge. Enjoy! Sometimes I order lunch and have enough left over for dinner!

I’ve been meaning to try this place out and finally got around to it. I gotta say, food was great! There is a bit of a wait but it’s well worth it because everything is fresh. I ordered the jerk chicken platter and all the flavors in that platter were superb

My review is mostly on the Oxtail and jerk chicken wings(the only things I get from here) Jerk chicken wings — are delicious and the meat pretty much falls off the bone. It’s so flavorful and tender. Be sure to get the wings smothered in their hot sauce. The hot sauce is delicious. Oxtail — with a generous helping of oxtail, rice and beans, greens and two pieces of plantain. The oxtail and the gravy that comes with it is so flavorful and delicious and works so well with rice and beans. When I finish off all of the oxtail there will still be gravy and rice leftover and that by itself is like a second meal. Goat Roti — I only had this once and I can’t remember much about it except that it was good. Sorrel — sometimes I see that they have a jug of sorrel. 3 dollars for a medium sized cup of the stuff. They also have Ting and Ginger Beer which go great with oxtail or wings(or just about anything there) I’ve mostly gone near the end of the business day so by that time there’s no necessarily jerk chicken wings. You usually have to go during the day otherwise they run out. Even though everything has probably been sitting out all day, the quality of food isn’t affected much by it. At least it’s not a big deal for me. Sometimes the plantains might be too dry but still not a big deal. The prices for the oxtail have gone up so it’s a bit more pricey but since I don’t get it everyday I don’t mind it because it’s a generous amount of food and it’s delicious. I can split one order with my girlfriend and it’s more than enough for the both of us. The service can be slow but the people there were friendly and helpful. I’m also never in a hurry whenever I go here so it’s not a big deal for me. During the times I’ve been here during the day on a weekend, it never gets too crowded.

Food is decent however, portion was very small compared to other places and I did have a large size. They don’t even cheat you overdoing the rice, you just get less overall. By the way, prices have increased but menu does not reflect it. Tired of the pay more get less. It doesn’t work. I WONTBEBACK ! Try another spot in a different part of Queens or Brooklyn.

Service is slow(as said before) and it is a bit off from the usual hussle and bussle but today is Labor Day and I needed a West Indian fix without trekking to Brooklyn. The food is solid here. The mac and cheese is probably the best I’ve ever had, rice and peas tastes like home. Jerk chicken was fall off the bone as was the oxtail. Medium oxtail was $ 12 Medium jerk chicken was $ 10. They have various sizes and such. All comes with rice and peas, veggies and sweet plantains. Baked mac & cheese was $ 4 I will say I wish the jerk chicken was spicier and had more of a kick but since this isnt a typical Caribbean neighborhood, perhaps making it less spicy caters to all. They did have hot sauce but I was getting it to go. There’s no AC so eating there in the summer may be a terrible idea though they have lots of seating, and they do deliver but I don’t know how good they are on time since I did a pick up order. They don’t accept $ 50 or $ 100 bills. I would definitely go back. Check it out!

I dined in on the oxtails, peas n rice, and steamed cabbage. Very good and tasty. Ordered a side of macaroni n cheese… Not good at all. I’ve never had Mac n cheese like that and will not have it again. The table was sticky and a couple of flies were getting on my nerves. May I suggest that bug zapper thingy to avoid the flies landing on customers food. I definitely will come again.

The service is slow(and delivery is extra-slow), but it’s worth the wait, because these authentic Jamaican dishes are delicious. I think they have the best rice and peas in New York!

This Jamaican spot is a hidden gem. We discovered it last week when we were craving Jamaican food. I’m so glad I chose this Jamaican restaurant over Jerk Hut. I ordered rice and peas with Ox tail and OMG wow. Everything was soo tasty. My boyfriend got the jerk chicken it was also really good but I prefer the oxtail. The owner was super funny and friendly. Their bathroom is clean which is always important to me. Definitely come here if you want some authentic Jamaican cuisine without taking the trip to Harlem.

Great food. Great prices. The first time I ate here I had an oral injury(TMJ) that made everything taste like metal — except their curries goat! The flavor came through like there was no stopping it! Highly recommended!

Authentic Jamaican food down to the accent. Best Oxtail this side of queens and the peas/rice are to die for. Greens are fresh and plentiful with your plate with scrumptious beef patties that are prepared daily. Must go!!!

When the brown stew chicken craving called, Melting Pot Cuisine answered. Chicken is flavorful, but lacks the sauciness that I crave, particularly because their rice and peas tend to be a bit dry. Cabbage/veg is pretty solid, as are the maduros. Sometimes, delivery is lightning fast. Sometimes it’s…not. Quality of dishes can be inconsistent.

Getting tired of eating the same food within my immediate area I decided I wanted something different. After much back & forth I decided to try the Melting Pot. Before walking over I called to make sure they were open and to make sure they still had Jerk Chicken. The lady that answered the phone confirmed this for me so I walked over. Upon arriving I noticed it was extremely empty and hot inside the restaurant. It took a few minutes before the lady came out to greet me, as I watched her standing in the kitchen. Once she came out she and I was greeted she asked me what I wanted and proceeded to make my plate of Jerk Chicken, Peas & Rice, Stew Cabbage, & plantations. I also ask for a Veggie patty. As she was putting the Veggie patty in a bag she noticed that it was hard and explained to me that the patty was old & hard from sitting in the warmer all day, and that she couldn’t sell it to me. I was very appreciative of her doing this because some people would have sold it anyway. The food, omg was soooooo gooood, I will definitely come back to try other dishes, and the food was reasonably priced. A small plate was around $ 7.00. The restaurant appeared clean, but for very dark and depressed looking. I also enjoyed the music that was playing while waiting for my food.

I’m on the fence ratings-wise. I didn’t like this as much as some of the places in Brooklyn but is that unfair competition? The jerk chicken, steamed vegetables and rice and peas were all pretty good. The spices had a good kick, just maybe a tiny bit less complexity than other establishments. The fried chicken was a little like Shake and Bake which isn’t necessarily bad.

Mmm… Jamaican food that his the spot. I ordered a large jerk chicken — and I can’t believe I finished everything. Everything was delicious, even the mixed vegetable side. My fiancé ordered curry goat, also delicious! We have to go back for the oxtail, which they didn’t have the day we went.

I was in the area and looked up caribbean spots which is what I had a taste for and didnt want to drive to Brooklyn to my jerk chicken spot. I didnt have high expectations of the food and ordered a small plate of jerk chicken, rice and peas with plantains. Boy was I surprised and pissed with myself for not ordering a medium. The food was delicious and the spiciness of the chicken was just right. Some caribbean spots cant get the jerk spiciness balanced right but this spot did. I would definitely return to try some other items on the menu.

We stopped by this hole in the wall spot after seeing the Unilocal reviews and were not disappointed. The place is unassuming and clean and does a huge carry out business. I can’t speak for the delivery but the in restaurant service/counter is SLOW. But once we got some jerk chicken and ox tail we were all happy campers! The plates were HEAPING with rice, beans, plantains, and meat choice. The small jerk chicken was certainly enough for a filling meal. The ox tail is their stand out plate. The flavor was rich and the meat just fell off the bone. $ 19 bux and we got two massive plates and a drink. If the food came out a bit faster they would have 5 stars!

I finally made it back for lunch. Their space is very big, clean(with dark sleek wooden chairs and tables), and well lit with lots of windows and a view of the Roosevelt Island bridge. It seems like they have a good take-out business, a lot of the workers were sitting around watching futbol, and they seem to know the locals and Con Ed workers. I got the oxtail and it was as good as I expected. They only have the oxtail in a medium($ 10.50) or large size. The medium came with sauteed cabbage, carrots, and strings of collards, 2 plantains, rice & red beans, and about 5 pieces of oxtail. I asked for light on the sauce. What a great lunch! with a little bit of leftovers. They have a new breakfast special, beef patties, and a few cakes in their fridge as well.
