I’ve only eaten here via Grubhub and have not been in person but I love this place. Pretty much everything on the menu is amazing! I’ve never gotten anything that was disappointing. I look forward to coming in person for a drink and to watch a live performance.

We spent an excessive amount of time in this restaurant due to the poor service from the waiters, it felt like they were ignoring us on purpose specially since it was not that crowded. The food was not worth the money, the wait nor the poor service.

My parents, boyfriend, and I went to Favela a few weeks ago for my birthday. We had reservations for 8:30, and arrived a little too early. While our table was being cleared, a server asked if we wanted to sit on the couches up front and order a drink. This was a nice gesture, because we could’ve just stood for 20 minutes, without being acknowledged. I tried to be adventurous, and ordered the cashew caipirinha. Yikes! This drink was definitely not the one for me! I hate to be a pain and send back food or drinks, so I tried to suck it up and drink it as fast as possible. Our table was finally ready, and we were seated and greeted right away. The server immediately knew that I was not feeling my drink at all, and nicely offered to have it changed for something else. He suggested the strawberry caipirinha instead!(A much better option for me) For appetizers we went with the smoked grilled sausage served with sautéed onions and French fries. For the main course, I opted for the Churrasco steak. The steak was cooked to medium perfection(just the right amount of pink and tenderness) and served with potatoes and vegetables. The rice and beans were served family style, and meant to share with others at the table. I give 4 stars instead of 5, because the live singer sang mostly slow-paced, mellow music. I would’ve preferred a more up-beat setting for a Friday night, or even more traditional style music. Nonetheless, our service was flawless, and the experience was overall very pleasant! I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday experience eating delicious home cooked style food, surrounded by my loved ones!

Mmmmmmmm what else can I say? My first try of Brazilian cuisine was at Favela. I can’t say that I tried the most«Brazilian» dish, but if it were a representation of what Brazil has to offer as far as food, sign me up! I really enjoyed my food and so did all of my guests. I didn’t really have any complaints, besides how far this restaurant was for my guests who commuted from Brooklyn by train.(Parking was really hard to find around here!) I would totally come back to Favela and try some of their other dishes. I had steak with rice and beans. Steak cooked to perfection, could’ve used a little more salt but even then it was great. Rice and beans are one of my favorite dishes because it’s super easy and it almost never disappoints. With that being said, nothing disappointed at Favela. I had a large party of about 15 and reservations with Clayton were a breeze. Also, try the sangria it’s good!

The Xmas party from my job was at Favela’s. The food was really tasty and tropical. Loved the pinacolada and all the appetizers that we had. I ate too much that I don’t even remember what was my favorite, but definitely yuca frita and the cheese Brazilian squares. For the dessert I had the coconut flan and it was so flavourful.

1st time here recommended by a friend. Started off with a delicious cured meat and onion appetizer followed by the bone in chicken with okra and polenta which was another good choice. Asked the very knowledgeable waiter to recommend a dry red wine by the bottle and he delivered a perfect choice of Carmenere. Nice atmosphere, food and service. Looking forward to my next visit and you should too if you’re in Astoria.

First time we went here was great. We both got beef, tasted good, had live music and lots of beer. We talked about doing our wedding rehearsal dinner here. We went again Friday night and it was a completely different story. I got the ‘special’ of cod and potatoes. It was the worst dish I’ve ever had at an NYC restaurant. The cod was overcooked and the potatoes were bland. I doused in Tabasco, poured on the beans and rice, but still didn’t taste great. Even got an upset my stomach the next day. Im not one to return food, but maybe I should have, especially for $ 17. Needless to say, we wont be bringing anyone here anymore.

Finally, a *nice* Brazilian churasscaria that doesn’t require stretchy pants! Favela is a great place; nice and intimate, great food, good caiparinhas and wine. Service was wonderful and the live music was a great touch. What more can you ask for? Who needs the red/green signal. We, as usually, ordered too much food anyway. We had the moqueca(fish stew) which was pretty good, the qeijo a milanesa(aka fried cheese), the bam bam, and the misto 3 with chicken. OMG, everything was so good. I’ll be back.

I went to Favela once and at that time, I was a vegetarian. Let me tell you: not many vegetarian options. I ate sides. It was my first time with Brazilian brochettes and true, it looked great. The staff was nice but mocked me a bit for not eating meat. I liked the round tables that accommodate a big party and are perfect for sharing a nice dinner with friends. And the cocktails were good.

We had a Saturday night reservation for 7:30PM for a large party. When we arrived, there weren’t many patrons or live music. It seemed pretty calm. However, by 8:30, the place was packed and in full swing. There was live music and everyone was enjoying themselves. The service is very friendly and patient. The drinks are decently priced and their mixed drinks are pretty strong. All of their dishes were delicious and it was nice that the waiters helped portion off the skewered meat. One tip is make sure you know that ordering the skewered meat will take at least 30 minutes. Luckily, our group drank enough alcohol to make the time pass by quickly, but it was such a tease seeing other tables with their food while we were waiting for ours. I would definitely recommend Favela. It’s a great Brazilian eatery and the prices are decent for the amount of food you get!

My boyfriend and I really wanted to try this place, unfortunately we couldn’t get there until about 9:30, it was pretty full, but checking the closing time was midnight, I figured maybe we had a chance. We get there and stand at the entrance, some people walked out, we stood there just looking at the service, a waiter looked DIRECTLY at us and just resumed his tasks. No one even approached us to say«hey sorry we are packed, we can’t sit you/we are no longer accepting people for dinner». So after we stood around as people were giving us look, we decided to just leave. RUDEST thing that has ever happened to me in a restaurant by far. I understand that we weren’t there in prime time, but at least have the decency to approach customers so that they may have the inclination to come again!

Tried this place upon the recommendation of a Brazilian friend. and we were not disappointed. We ordered a grilled steak dish with veggies and rice and beans, and a chicken dish to share. The rice and beans were flavorful and the meat cooked to perfection. There was a side sauce that was some type of herbs in oil… and it was the tastiest thing. Friendly waitstaff, casual atmosphere, would definitely go again. Prices were also very reasonable.

We ordered the stroganoff with beef, Bobo de camarao, and moqueca. It was all very delicious and very soft, but full in taste. The bolo de banana dessert is very nice. We were three and it was enough for all of us. Very recommendable! The waiters were ok. The music was not loud at the beginning(7−8pm on a Saturday) it was very private and pleasant. Later louder when the live music started it got louder and more bar like. All in all a very cool experience.

A great spot for date night and some churrasco! Hubby & I have been here 3 times and have not been disappointed. It is a cozy place with a chill ambiance. We’ve been here only on weeknights and have never had to wait for a table so I’m not sure how it is on weekends. For appetizer — my favorite is the Camarão Alho e Oleo(shrimp in garlic & lemon sauce) — so succulent! We’ve also tried the Frango à Passarinho(marinated chicken on the bone, basically a chicharron de pollo). It was good as well, but I would definitely order the shrimp instead. For the entrée, we’ve only ordered the churrasco misto 2(sirloin, skirt steak, and sausage). Each of these meats always comes out juicy, delicious, and perfectly cooked. That sirloin and skirt steak, omg. This comes with a side of rice, beans, farofa, and vinaigrette sauce — I think the meal is enough for 3 people — or 2 hungry people like us. Have room for dessert? You haaaave to try the Bolo de Banana Flambado com Sorvete(banana cake flambé with ice cream). Unique dessert for a restaurant and so enjoyable. BUT be warned that the iron skillet is very hot — watch your fingers. Also, let the dessert cool down for a minute or so before digging in — I’ve burnt my tongue on it. Once it cools down, it is absolutely great! Be advised that, if you order the churrasco, there is a 30 minute wait. This is clearly stated on the menu and is totally worth. Order the garlic shrimp and some caipiranhas and relax! All in all, we love this place. The service is not spectacular but it is just fine. Can’t wait to return!

The Coxinha de frango are a great appetizer, succulent and delicious. They are far better than the rest of the coxinhas. The capirinhas are very good and pretty reasonably priced. I have the fejoada for dinner and split it with another person(an extra $ 6 for a plate of rice, a little steep). But it was delicious and we even had leftovers. My girlfriend got a steak and did not really enjoy it, she felt the meat was exceptionally tough even though she ordered it medium. Stick with the brazilian food, not the steaks, and this place is a pretty good option.

Underwhelmed is the best way I can describe this place. It was barely just OK. Firstly, the quality of the meats wasn’t that great, not where it should be for a Brazilian restaurant. Second, on a Saturday nights they say they have live music but the guy who was playing was more like dead music. At a Brazilian place you expect the«live music» to be LIVELY, fun, commensurate with the culture… but it was the most depressing acoustic guitar, it made me want to cry. On to the food, we ordered a mix of appetizers and steak encebollado(smothered in onions) served with fries plus the GIANT beef rib. Let me start by saying the fries were frozen, from a bag, and not even good quality frozen fries. Good things from our huge meal: the caipirinhas, the cassava fritters with cheese(yum!) and the huge dinosaur-like beef rib. I would go back there for that rib(and only that rib) and take it home to eat with some proper rice beans because oh, their beans were totally bland(I venture to say they were from a can AND they were pinto beans???) and the rice was flavorless as well. My advice, get the rib to go, skip on their frozen and/or bland sides, make some good rice and salad at home and place non-depressing tunes on your iPad. It will all be better that way. Honestly, the steam table buffet joints in the area are better. And half the price.

Took my parents here for my father’s birthday and was impressed. We ordered Coxinha de frango (Pastry filled w/chicken) as appetizers and they were amazing. For our main course we had Misto#3 which came as assorted brazilian grilled meat. The meat was juicy, and grilled perfectly! The staff was extremely polite and attentive. One of the waiters dropped a chunk of meat off the skewer as he was sliding then off and quickly informed us that he will bring out a replacement piece. The atmosphere was very cozy, relaxing and inviting. If you love Brazilian grill and don’t want to spend a lot of money on an all you can eat Brazilian steakhouse in the city, this place is a great alternative. You pay for what you eat and you leave satisfied as we did. We are defiantly coming back to this place in the near future! Recommend!

Got to come here with family that frequent the place. My first time having Brazilian food. I’m not sure what exactly is different about Brazilian food. I know about churrascaria but unfortunately opted for something else. Maybe next time? The Salgados as an appetizer is a deal, and delicious. I chose the pastel de carne, pastel de bacalhau com camaroo and the risoles de camaroo. 2 of each and all tasty. The risoles were something new for my taste buds and they did not disappoint, however the other 2 were like regular empanadas. For an entre, I ordered the Entranha Grelhada, well done. The menu states no subs, so I was stuck with veggies on my plate that i didnt touch. I hate carrots. They should specify what those veggies are. The steak was good and I enjoyed the chimichurri sauce. The potatoes were good too. However surprising the portion was small. I was actually still hungry. Could just be me though! It also came with a side of rice and beans for all of us to share. I didnt have any drinks because I’m laying off the liquor but the soda was really good. It was a cherry cream soda flavor. Nice spot, friendly staff, dim lighting creates a nice ambiance. Would go back for those risoles!
