DONOTGETDELIVERY. It will come late, wrong order, or hot sandwiches will be cold. That said, if you walk and pick up, or order and eat in, Bagels & Brew is the place to go in Astoria, which is why it still got a 3 star review. JUSTDON’T DODELIVERY. WALKANDPICKUP!!!

Their delivery service is awful. Painfully slow. Be prepared to wait at minimum 90 minutes for something simple like French toast. And now after waiting this long the food was cold and one the syrup containers was opened and empty. Just terrible service. Last time ordering from here. I’ll spend my money somewhere else.

I feel let down after reading all of the great reviews for this place. My food came cold which is the biggest problem. My bagel had the wrong cream cheese on it and hardly any cream cheese on it at all. If you’ve gone to any place in NYC for a bagel with spread on it then you know the standard portion is generous to say the least. Based off what I received you would think there’s a bagel spread national shortage. Anyway the banana peanut butter smoothie was good. Won’t be ordering from this place again.

I live in Queens but not near Bagels & Brew, I actually live closer to all the Brooklyn Bagel locations. But I used to have a friend that lived near here and always raved about it so whenever I was at their apartment in the morning, this is what we would grab. It’s a really good bagel shop. It’s almost always busy, so be prepared, but theirs a reason — it’s good. The prices aren’t outrageous and the staff is as helpful and upbeat as someone who is working their ass off(every morning) could be. If they ever have messed up my order(which is rare) they always fixed it with no hesitation. The coffee is your standard bagel place coffee, if that makes any sense. I usually get iced and it’s not cold-brew or anything crazy, it’s decent and will give you your morning caffeine boost. Now, that being said this isn’t a ‘coffee shop’. You’re here for the bagels!(‘brew’ is second in the name for a reason!) The bagels are big and fresh. They rival ‘Brooklyn Bagel’, as far as quality, and they bagel sandwiches are delicious. There is another bagel shop(on this same street) called ‘New York Coffee & Bagel House’(something like that) and the bagels here at Bagels & Brew are FAR better. That place as a lot more seating, but besides that Bagels & Brew wins.

I absolutely LOVE this breakfast place. The bagels are thick and delicious, and the amount of cream cheese options blows my mind. I usually order a few with nothing on them, and then eat them for breakfast throughout the week. The eggs and french toast are pretty good too, and you can’t go wrong with a sausage and egg sandwich either. I also order here for lunch some times, and the avocado chicken delight sandwich is sooo yummy, and I love that they give you a side of homemade salad as well(I always go for the Macaroni) and chips! So I always feel satisfied after eating my lunch from them! I sometimes order a crumb cake for dessert, and it’s usually such a large chunk I cut it in half and eat it over two days. It’s sooo soft, so fluffy, and the crumbs are not even too sugary. The delivery is always quick, and if there are any issues with the order they always call to double check, which is very courteous. I recommend this place to anyone looking for breakfast, and usually when I tell my office I’m ordering from here everyone jumps in for something. I know I’m never going to be disappointed when I order from them!

I hesitated to write this because I’ve met the owner a few times and she’s actually really nice and generous(and the reason why I haven’t written a review before) and the food here is really good, but the service is just really really bad. I used to order for delivery and there would always be something wrong with the order or the delivery. So I started walking over instead(I’m a few blocks away), and when I would get home there would always be something wrong with the order also. I’ve experienced it on Sundays, I’m not sure how other days are. So I have stopped getting much from them lately. Today I decided to try and order since I wasn’t feeling well and needed to rest. I called and they were supposed to get back to me with the total since the cream cheese I had ordered had to be weighted(I was getting half pound of two flavors), I was expecting the call since I had given them my credit card info and wouldn’t think they’d run it before letting me know how much it was, but guess what, they guy ran it without consulting with me. I mean regardless of how poor the service is at this place, that was just having no common sense and no respect for the customer at all. While I was expecting the call back to let me know of the total and have me approve it, the call I received was from the delivery guy who had arrived. Points on delivering quickly. But I didn’t even know how much it had been charged, and I told the delivery guy to give me a few minutes since I hadn’t been told how long it’d take either, the delivery guy said Ok. I come outside and he was gone. I called him and he said he had too many deliveries and that he’d be back, and I asked and wondered why couldn’t he had said that before when I spoke to him. Both guys apologized, but judging on their attitudes I’m sure it wasn’t taken seriously, just another day of «dealing with all of them crazy customers.» The guy that took the order did offer to refund me and place a new order, but in all honesty, who knows what other problems would arise so I said to leave it, considering it was also on its way. His apology was sort of defiant as well, «Ok, sorry, I forgot to call you with the total, Ok? What do you want me to do??» I wonder how he would feel if his card was being ran without his approval on the total amount. I’m sure they have good and bad days, but I seem to get the bad service days. The one star is for service. Five stars on the food, but I rather start getting it from somewhere else, where at least I know that my card is not gonna just be ran without my approval. UPDATE– I just made the same exact transaction with Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company, the weight on the cream cheeses is set and they already gave me the amount of how much it is before processing my card, which by the way it’s MUCH cheaper than what I got with Bagels & Brews, about $ 5 cheaper and that’s A LOT for bagels and cream cheese(for 2 bagels and two ¼ lb of flavored cream cheese it was almost $ 14 at Bagels $ Brews), which I also thought at the time it was too much for what I had ordered). Still giving this place 1 single lonely star. Oh, and the service is so much nicer at Brooklyn Bagels. Try all these, don’t just believe me.

Well… I could go to BK Bagel, wait in a line out the door, and get a mediocre bagel — or I can go to this place and get an AWESOME bagel with absolutely no wait… Bagels are fresh, doughy, with tons of topping/cream cheese options. Even have flat, mini, all kinds… And staff is always super nice and helpful!

Bagel was good but far from the best. Service was good. I would go again but if I had a choice there are better bagels out there

The place is so dysfunctional!!! We had to order 3 separate times from 3 different people for that ice coffee. It took them about 20 minutes to cook omelette sandwich!!! It’s disgrace!!! It doesn’t make any sense to have 10 people work there and they don’t even remember customer’s order!!! It’s so unorganized!!!

My brother and I met for lunch here the other day. My brother had mentioned that they have great bagels, so that’s exactly what both of us got. He ordered an everything bagel scooped out with tuna salad. It looked good and he confirmed that it was delicious. I got an everything bagel toasted and scooped out with their cheddar and jalapeño cream cheese. It was good, but the bagel was toasted a few seconds too long. I was also hoping the cream cheese would be spicy because of the jalapeño, but it wasn’t at all. It tasted more cheddary than anything. I got an iced coffee too which was decent. I would go back to try the tuna or the many other delicious sounding cream cheeses — nutella cream cheese?! Yes, please!

The best bagel I’ve had on this side of the Hudson, for real… and I’ve had a lot. The bagels always seem fresh, service is quick, and options are numerous. I’m excited to try some of the bakery goods. I’ll be back around, and maybe in time I’ll have enough that it will beat my favorite spot in Hoboken.

I’m really upset that I got ripped off this morning. I went in to grab breakfast because this WAS my go to spot for bagels. I’ve always previously ordered from seamless and was always happy with the food and delivery was usually within the estimated time. Anyway, I walked in and they took my order right away, 2 bagels with a side order of cream cheese and a coffee. After paying $ 9, I kept thinking it was more than I usually pay and so I checked and it should have been $ 7.25. Yes, it’s only $ 1.75 but it’s the principal of it. Part of the reason why I go to bagels and brew is because they have better prices than brooklyn bagel, but I might as well find another place that I can trust not to overcharge me for no reason…

Bagels are good. But the service really sucks. The two guys behind the counter didn’t care to take my order even though no one else was there. I get the feeling the place isn’t well managed or the employees aren’t treated well. I live 5 mins away and one visit prevented me from visiting again. I’d rather walk the extra 5 mins to Brooklyn Bagel.

This place is bomb! It wasn’t until we reflected on our breakfast here that we realized how good it was — particularly considering the price. For about $ 11.50 we had two breakfast sandwiches, a coffee and a huge soft baked cookie(I can’t say no to huge cookies — even at breakfast)! The eggs were fluffy and fresh. The bagels were outstanding — of course. Soft/chewy and full of flavor. Not too salty. Not stale. Just fresh! The food wasn’t served as one would expect fast food and so at first I was getting impatient(after waiting for 3 whole minutes), but then when the sandwich came out and I realized it hadn’t come out in just 1 minute because they had been preparing real food, I was quite pleased. The space is small so there aren’t many places to sit(maybe 3 tables?). We got there bright and early(for a Sunday) and JUST missed the morning rush. As we were leaving around 10:30 there was a line out the door. Highly recommended.

Usually the orders here go seamlessly but after today I’m not going to be ordering from them again. I don’t know why it took over an hour to get a bagel and cream cheese and a bacon, egg and cheese together but it did and it STILL has not arrived. Supposedly, they can’t ‘contact the driver’ but I don’t think he ever really left.

Really good bagels! I had a flat whole wheat with ham and cheese and a coffee, which was also good. My fiancé had a whole wheat everything and was also very pleased!

Small space. Gets crowded on weekends during brunch hours, but shorter than the brooklyn bagel place. The food is really good. but i take issue with the made up prices once you tell your order to the woman at the cash register(i think owner) and when things on their menu say it comes with sides or soda they never offer it to you in shop unless you point it out to them. I think they are sneaky with the prices. Its annoying that their whole wheat everything bagelbagelb is so good.

Real solid old-school bagel joint in Astoria. There is nothing 21st century about this place, and the customers reflect the population over time: cops, construction workers, and other locals. The guys at the counter are cool and remind me of the guys at my old bagel place back on Kings Highway. Good cuppa joe, too, and a croissant will run you under $ 2.

I really, really, really want to give Bagels & Brew 5 stars but with only having eaten from here once, I’ve gotta eat from here again before I notch it up one. I ordered a whole wheat everything bagel with a scrambled egg, sausage and melted American cheese and it was SCRUMPTIOUS! Being born and BREAD(bwhahahahaha!!! Awful, I know ^_^) in New York City I’m pretty snobby about bagels. Bagels aren’t simply circular pieces of bread with a hole in it… it takes talented hand-rolling, excellent ingredients and quality water to provide a bagel that is worthy of being deemed«a New York City bagel». The bagel I had from here? DEFINITELY a New York bagel! :D The outside of my bagel was perfectly crunchy and the inside is chewy/fluffy PERFECTION, not dense or brick-like the way bagels sit in my stomach when they’re made by people who don’t know what they’re doing. My boyfriend had a «Chicken Delight Specialty Sandwich» on a yummy kaiser roll. The sandwich as composed of their«Blazing Buffalo Chicken» with lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc and came with a small side cup of macaroni salad and a small bag of original Lays potato chips. He was pleased with it but felt it was pretty much your average deli sandwich and he found their macaroni salad to be weird because he’s not a fan of sweet pickles… I don’t like pickles ever so yeahhhhh…4 stars for their average yet hearty spicy chicken sandwich and for my delicious, delicious bagel. Mostly for the bagel because yanno… bagels {3.
