I am fussy about my steak because I am Australian. The steak frites here is an amazing dish — so tender. The wine, the salad, everything. And at happy hour it is a steal. A lovely ambiance where you can talk. No one rushes you. Yesterday I sat and edited a script and no one made me feel that I was overstaying my welcome. SO came back today! Ask for Freddie!

Wow! My favorite breakfast in Ashland and that’s saying a lot! Be sure to check out brunch at Hearsay on the weekends. It’s a secret little gem not everyone yet knows about and the back patio is perfect on a day like this. What really makes it special is the flavorful and unique cooking of Chef Michael Capalongo. I will definitely be returning!

I’ve only been for lunch but this place is a gem. The outdoor garden area is really nice and relaxing, perfect on a nice day. The food is really tasty and the menu is unique. The Korean dishes with Kim chi are really good, a little salty but still delicious. I’ve also had a few of the Mexican dishes and they were great too. Today was our second time and the menu was a little different than the time before which I like. The price is reasonable too, $ 40 for two with drinks and appetizer. I’ll definitely be back.

This is, without a doubt, one of my favorite new restaurants in Ashland. Chef William Shine and his staff created a delicious and truly memorable dining experience for my husband and I during a recent trip to Ashland. We each chose one of the specials of the evening, a truly imaginative«surf and turf» that was perfectly cooked and creatively conceptualized. The service was warm, welcoming and attentive. Our server, Leah, was delightful and very helpful. She knew the menu well and was able to guide us toward choices compatible with my specialized dietary needs. The patio was beautiful, and the restaurant interior was both elegant and fun. I imagine the bar area would be a lovely place to hang out with friends, especially as evenings bring cooler temperatures. A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience!

I can’t believe it’s even better than the restaurant that was in the location previously.

What a great spot! We came here based on Unilocal reviews and were not disappointed. We sat at the bar where we had a couple of glasses of bubbly… if you’re a cocktail drinker you definitely want to check this place out(we’re more wine drinkers, but the cocktail list looked tempting!). The bartender was gracious and helpful, and a gentleman played acoustic guitar in the other room. One of the things that annoys me about live music in a small setting like this is when the musician plays so loudly you can’t even talk to each other. The volume was perfect in the background and added a nice ambience to our experience. For appetizers we had the bacon-wrapped prawns(yum) and The Best Fries Ever. I am a bit of a fries snob(haha) and these easily ranked toward the top of the list. They come with five dipping sauces… each was delicious! Since we’d already eaten appetizers at Liquid Assets, we weren’t all that hungry, so we didn’t have anything else… next time we’re in town, we definitely will!

A comfortable, classy relative newcomer to the Ashland scene has a stunning décor, warm atmosphere, and very pleasant staff. The romantic dark, woody interior is complemented by vibrant, jazzy walls. Very fun! We were welcomed, served, moved to the dining room, welcomed, served, and fed by professional and friendly staff. We enjoyed the drinks, service, and food. My friends had the mixed grill for two which included two sets of salads and sides. They were pleased by the quality and quantity. I thought my fish curry excellent, and was happy with the salad and accompaniments, too! The bartender when we were there apparently didn’t know how to make a «perfect» or «dry» Manhattan. I suspect when we ordered it «dry» the bartender cut down the amount of sweet vermouth as you would to make a dry martini. The server was gracious and had my drink remade with dry vermouth(as it should have been!), but it’s a nit to pick. They also don’t transfer bar checks to the dining room, which is less than first class. And, my beef eating husband thought his meal was okay, but not special. So, four stars from our one visit. We’ll be back during our August trip to see if we can raise the ratings!

This place is fabulous. Its very elegant and 1920’s-30’s is, and the food was so good. Had been procrastinating going here since it opened, and so glad I made the time to go! I had the gnocchi and it was to die for. Went with my mother, and she had a fish special.

Had a bad experience with the bartender here. From the moment we walked in she was stand offish, seemed almost hesitant to seat us, and made us so uncomfortable as we had our drinks that we felt inclined to leave after the first round. I won’t be returning.

The restaurant ambiance is reminiscent of 1920s elegance and sophistication, which reflects in their dishes as well. Hearsay is a beautifully decorated restaurant and would be perfect if you’re looking to have a romantic evening. The restaurant staff are all incredibly nice and helpful. If you’re looking for a place to have a fairly priced meal and still have good portions, this isn’t the place for you. I ordered a half salad($ 6, the full was $ 12), which was fantastic, but the portion was tiny in comparison to a half salad I had at Martinos, a local Italian restaurant. The pricing on their entire menu is also high up there, including bread. For a whopping $ 5, we received 6 small/medium slices of bread with a really small serving of butter. For a whole load of homemade, baked fresh bread just a block from Hearsay, it costs $ 5. Personally, it shouldn’t cost $ 5 for a small serving of bread, which most restaurants will provide along with a meal or while waiting for a meal to be served. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere, but will not be returning because its too dang expensive.

Went here on Valentine’s Day. We requested a window seat with our reservation, but it turns out that the tables with a window view seat 4. So it was a no-go since it was a busy night for them *shucks* Service was great, water refilled w/o asking, food was timed perfectly, the food is obviously prepared with GREATCARE and every ingredient was made to shine in every preparation. Mad props for every ingredient being perfectly cooked, the salmon was especially impressive. We never felt rushed even though it was obviously a busy night for them *BIG Smles*. We will DEFINITELY be back again! One of the few places where I don’t mind paying a little more, since it would be nearly impossible to duplicate at home *high five* I think this is new: ~ HAPPYHOUR5−6pm DAILY ~(as seen on the sign out front)

I’m so glad that Hearsay is in Ashland. From the moment we checked in with the hostess to the classy décor, to the great piano/singer music, to the excellent waiter, to the beautiful food, it was a completely lovely evening. My new favorite place

Our party of 4 went to Hearsay on a Friday night – Art walk, so it was quite busy. We sat at the communal table. Initially service was slow to order drinks so we went to the bar to order. We had several wait staff attending us through dinner. The pork chop special was very tender and overall the food was good. Our only gripe would be the service was slow; but everyone was friendly. We’ll give it another try on a week night when it’s not so busy.

Another horrible Ashland meal. The restaurant is beautiful, the service great, and the food abysmal. My partner had a pork chop that was way overdone and his sides were cold. I had the«butternut squash risotto» which was not a risotto at all but finely cut up pieces of squash in a maple syrup – like a bad Thanksgiving side, and a wild mushroom pot pie that had been sitting around for some time, was microwaved so that the crust was chewy and came off in one piece, and was served lukewarm. No matter how beautiful the setting, bad food is bad food. I’ll never go back.

For Happy Hour, I recommend the Pearsay cocktail(it’s like having«fall-flavors» party in your mouth) accompanied with bacon wrapped shrimp in a savory, ‘lick-the-plate’ sauce(another mouth party)! For Lunch, I recommend the steak sandwich and shoe-string fries with bacon sauce. If you find yourself there on a chilly, wintery day — get the curry(add shrimp). YummmY ! It was a great recommendation from our knowledgeable and handsome server, Chris. If you make reservations, request him — he is such a compliment to the atmospheric ambiance. The vibrant décor at Hearsay compliments the impeccable service and food! I want to honor everyone connected to this restaurant — your hard work and deep thought into the details really shows up here!

I’ve eaten at Hearsay twice. On both occasions I was so impressed with my server, different people on both nights. For being opened for such a short time, they were so prepared and on point. They answered all my questions, were attentive, but not bothersome. Well done! Every item I tried was well thought out, with some pairings of flavors I haven’t seen elsewhere. The presentation on each plate was well planned and executed. The ricotta gnocchi was delicious. I haven’t had it before with a bit of a sear on it. The pork belly was great, the cauliflower perfect. This restaurant is so cool inside, i love the new rendition to this space. I have liked all the restaurants that have lived here. It’s nice to have the piano back. Good job all the way round.

Beautiful space, I can’t wait to see the piano in action. Service was friendly and helpful. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, I especially loved the sauces. And the ricotta was perfect. The drink menu was overwhelming at first because there are so many options, but after trying a few I can see it’s well worth it and I can’t wait to try them all. Totally impressed and looking forward to another visit soon.

Great wine selection, the carrot soup was divine and the Halibut fish special also excellent. Couldn’t decide on desserts so had to order the chocolate bread pudding and the toffee pudding, which both were delicious. Waiter service was really good and he was very knowledgeable and made good recommendations. I love the 1920’s 30’s era and this restaurant has a wonderful décor and I can’t wait to go back to hear the grand piano being played and a crooner at the cool old fashioned mic. Lovely place for date or intimate group of friends.
