Wonderful food(pesto burger, local and grass fed) and organic frape. Would eat here again in a second. The absolute best burger outside the Bay Area!

Sadly, Grilla Bites is gone. This was one of our favorite lunch places in Ashland. We always felt the people were nice, and the food was tremendous. The Grilla sandwiches were enormous, good value, healthy, and delicious. We’ll really miss you guys. We always found the service staff and owner to be friendly. They were always pleasant to us, and would say hi to our kindergarten/first grade kid. We’re sad to see you go, Grilla. We were buds. If you ever come back anywhere in Ashland, we’ll be there for ya.

Okay, I ‘ve been getting prompted by Unilocal’s computer to write a review ever since I gave a tip. There is no need to add to those who have already given good reviews. Though I really like the option of getting fresh veggies with my sandwich instead of chips or other unhealthy food. Let’s hope someone buys this place and keeps up the quality. Gorilla Bits is gone. Supposedly a victim of he rising cost of organic food. But then 2013 will be the year of high food prices thanks to climate change and government subsidies for ethanol.

There’s a lot of great food on this menu, and the offerings are so dynamic as to please almost any palate or dietary restriction… HOWEVER — what I come for is the BUFFALOBURGERS. OMG. These are the best burgers *ever* Hands down, I lose my $h!t every time w/these buffalo burgers… pure ecstasy. That’s pretty much what keeps me coming back. But everything here is pretty good. And they have a great salad bar, when you’re in the mood for that.

I’m a little on the fence about this place. Very Café Gratitude(whether that’s good or bad is up to you) First off their sandwiches are HUGE! Do yourself a favor and only get a half the half = 1 regular sandwich Most of the tofu sandwiches are similar in taste, standout among those are the Miso Tofu sandwich. DONOTGET Strawberry Banana smoothie

The bad: — The staff run a relatively narrow gamut from awkward to annoying, with a median somewhere around aloof. — Inevitable crappy wispy-voiced guitar player audible through open front door. Not Grilla Bites’ fault, but still. — Stupidest all-time seating/service schema. Really? We have to choose a table before ordering, remember its table number, leave a personal item on said table to reserve it, then leave said personal item for someone to steal while we stand on line? Smoke a little more pot … I’m sure you could come up with an even worse idea if you really applied yourself. Ha ha, just kidding, there couldn’t possibly be a worse idea than this. — Kinda want to punch everyone in here in the face; all the staff and all the customers, me and my wife included. We get it; you all do yoga. So do we … but where we come from it’s not novel. What is this, 2004? Screw off. The good: really fantastic food; super healthy and yet super tasty. Almost perfect in this regard, and hey, this is after all an eatery. Lovely patio. Really cool interior mural. Quick enough of a visit that I was able to leave before all of my self-esteem had evaporated. JUSTBARELY. The verdict: definitely coming back if I happen to be near Ashland and hungry. Will be making sure to take a deep breath at the front door in preparation for swimming through a sea of a-holes to get to that amazing food.

I stopped at Grilla Bites on a Portland-Monterey road trip. As others have noted, the veganized BBQ burger was delish. My husband ordered the bison burger, which he said was ok, but not as good as my veg burger. Of note, they had a sign posted that said if you asked for any corrections to your meal(after it was made) you would be charged again. IMO that seems like a pretty shady business plan that will probably not get Grilla Bites too far, since the customer will always be wrong(and pissed about paying extra when the error isn’t their fault, leading to a diminishing customer base). Luckily I didn’t have a problem with my food, but if I did my review would probably be much different.

OMGGGG I can’t even begin to explain how delicious this place was! I am so so so happy I found it. Although my parents are vegetarian, I am not, but this place easily pleased both of use! Definitely THE spot for vegetarians and vegans in Ashland and southern Oregon. I am heading straight back next time I’m in town! The inside atmosphere is like a garden picnic café. I saw a salad bar but ordered off the menu only. They had a lot of natural and healthy drinks and deserts on display as well. The staff was also very nice and helpful. My parents split the Pesto Feta Burger with the option of their homemade, gluten-free, soy-free veggie patty, and a side of blue corn chips with hummus. They both said it was phenomenal and couldn’t stop raving about it during the whole meal. Being vegetarians, it can be hard to find a good restaurant with hearty veggie meals(they get tired of veggie pizza and salads) in Southern Oregon, so they are now addicted with this place and can’t wait to come back. I ordered the Roasted Green Chili Burger with the same veggie patty, and have to say that it may have been the best burger I have ever eaten. There was so much flavor with the red pepper aioli and still healthy with the non-spicy green chilis, spinach, and veggie patty. Plus their burgers are served on their delicious ciabbata buns! Their prices were amazing, spent less than $ 25 on all the food and drinks we ordered, and all left full to the brim. The staff was nice, food was delivered in less than 10 minutes, and nothing beats creek-side dining. The perks of sitting outside: people watching, dog-friendly, and fresh air! Will definitely recommend this place to vegetarians and meat eaters alike! They had some awesome sounding burgers and grillas(pressed sandwiches) with other proteins like salmon, beef, and bison. Still craving the flavor of my sandwhich!

This place is so yummy! The food is amazing! The location is great! The service was even better! Favorites: COOKIES!!! Carrot juice and HUMMUS! Yummy! I love just reading their menu. It gives me warm and fuzzies talking about living local, eating local, supporting your community. I wish more establishments treated their products and services this way! I was in town visiting family and decided to stop in this place for lunch. Wow… I was so impressed. The food was very good. While we were eating a guy came over and started playing piano right next to us. Lunch and live music? Nice! The salad bar looks great, but I didn’t have a chance to try it. Next time I’m in town, this is a must stop! Favorites: COOKIES!!! Carrot juice and HUMMUS! Yummy!

This is a review of the salad bar only. I felt like a got a decent sized salad for not too much. Good vegan dressing, tofu, greens, veggies… all organic and you get to make it yourself. 8.75 a lbs, not too bad considering the quality. I’d stop by again if I lived here.

The staff was very accomodating and nice. We ate out on the patio near closing time and they let us stay at our table while they were packing up the rest of the chairs and umbrellas. The food wasn’t great but it wasn’t bad either. The beer cheese soup was yummy but the broccoli was so so. The hummus is jazzed up with lots of cumin and it was a little overpowering. It was a nice stop on our road trip and didn’t take long to get here off the 5.

The location was great. We parked and walked around a bit before coming to eat Grilla Bites. The food was really good! It wasn’t totally vegas/vegetarian(I had a turkey sandwich.) but it was delicious! Mine also came with soy bacon. It was pretty large, I wish I had gotten the half sandwich, half soup combo. Boyfriend got the veggie burger and really liked that. Two different tastes(his was sweeter and mine was more savory), but both were REALLY good. If you check-in on my phone, the 2nd entrée is 50% off! So, make sure you check in! Right before we left, we also got an organic smoothie for $ 5. Great deal! Would definitely stop by here again! Best of all, after I finished eating, I felt super healthy!

Great salad bar — easy self-serve and lots of choices. We had to wait quite a while for the sandwich but it tasted good when we got it. Staff was not particularly friendly, unless they knew you(we didn’t and so barely rated a hello). Prices are great.

I went here for the first time when visiting from out of town. Being a health-conscious flexi-vegan, everyone said I would love this place– and they were right! Seating both indoors and on the back patio, along the creek. TIP: If you want to sit on the patio, grab your table first and put a number on it, then go inside and order. Natural, simple, fresh, and deeelicious!

Ahhhhh. Another wonderful hippie food talk experience. I enjoy those! I’m not a fan of their hummus(too much celery??), but the classic burger was great. Dining partner appreciated the gluten-free veggie burger and bread options. We both chose the side of fresh veggies and I was pleased to see that the veggies were raw! So many places mean«steamed/cooked and covered in butter veggies» when they say«fresh veggies.» I enjoyed the crunchy carrots and perfectly ripe slices of cucumber. I’m not a fan of celery, so I gave my serving of it to my dining partner. I like the location and I was amused when a little kid randomly started playing the piano. I think they only have one restroom, so I hope the line/wait never gets bad. The hot tea was fantastic, even if mostly because I was sick and really in the mood for a hot beverage. I liked that they gave me a little bowl for the tea dirt container(or however it looked — my visit was several weeks ago) so I had somewhere to put it when the tea got to my preferred strength. Thank you Grilla Bites for a super filling road trip lunch!

Great place to get a sandwich or fresh salad. Although I am not a vegetarian or a vegan, I like it that they have options for both here. They also have gluten-free sandwiches and I can just picture a gathering here where ALL my special diet needs friends can sit in a circle for a lunch date. On my recent visit I got a turkey pesto sandwich. The toasted bread was awesome and the pesto was garlicky good. The size of the sandwich was huge. I didn’t think I could finish it but I couldn’t stop eating until it was gone. You get salad at the salad bar and they offer loads of fresh goodies to put in your salad. There is a large seating area in the restaurant but they also have a few tables outside in the back patio by the creek, which on a sunny day makes eating a sandwich and salad a special experience indeed.

On our trip to Ashland we asked our tattoo guy(Benja at Universal Rites) where we could get some delicious Vegan eats, and he suggested we’d find something good at Grilla Bites. Sure enough we did. Upon entering the shop we saw a sign that told us to select our table before placing our order. Having read the reviews about the fabulous salad bar I gave it a look over. My overall impression was«meh» … salad bar is a salad bar, although I do have to say the lettuce selections(including fresh spinach) was far superior to some salad bars I’ve seen. Having read reviews on portion size, we ordered the BBQ tofu sandwich(without cheese) to share and were well satisfied. We had the choice of vegetables or chips with our sandwich, I opted for chips. When the sandwich arrived, the portion size was inconsistent with the sandwich size. There were maybe a dozen blue corn chips, had I realized there would be so few we may have opted for the veggies instead. All in all though, it was a great place for lunch. I enjoyed the unique selection of beverages.
