Best Western Bard’S Inn

Really loved staying at this place. Here’ why:
1. Walking distance to downtown Ashland (literally minutes)
2. Clean, comfortable room that felt well decorated and «nice».
3. Yummy free breakfast (eggs, sausage, bacon, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, etc)
4. Heated outdoor pool and hot tub (even in December!)
5. Pet-​friendly — they even gave us dog treats!
6. CHEAP! Booked online a few days in advance and only paid $ 85/​night
Highly recommend!

I’m a bit late in posting this, but we stayed here several months ago. This was the perfect place to stay for our first trip to Ashland, Oregon! The staff was incredibly friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was FAR better than the usual ‘free’ breakfast fare. I hope to make trips to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival a regular destination, and I will stay here again in a heartbeat.

This place is the worst! Oh it’s clean and quiet like most Best Westerns, but the rooms are very small. We have a king sized bed in an studio sized space on the 2^nd floor, no elevator. There’s no closet, only an ardmore which is only in the way. When my wife uses the ironing board, there’s no room to move around at all. The vanity is so small they put the coffee maker, ice bucket, etc. UNDER the sink! In addition, the a/​c-​heat is one of those window installed cycle on/​cycle off types and is very noisy. They also have limited parking. We ended up parking on the street last night.

Excellent all-​around compared to other options in this price range. Complimentary water and snacks on arrival, extremely helpful staff, surprisingly nice breakfast room, and central location. The room wasn’t anything fancy but was very clean. Breakfast was typical but tended well.

Ryan was awesome. Got us checked in quickly so the kids could hit the pool before it closed for the night. Fresh guac for the breakfast burritos! Yum.

I had booked a one-​night stay with my family in early April 2015. Due to an urgent family matter, I needed to change my plans and return home. Upon contacting the property they refused to offer a refund or partial refund. I’ll return to Ashland but will find a hotel that has more caring and ethical owners /​management.

Wow, I can say that I am throughly impressed by this place!
It sits on 3 corners, has pool, hot tub, free breakfast and much more.
Upon arrival I took and went on the hunt for a hair dryer. not only did I find this under the bathroom sink, but I also found a Keurig! (yay!)
The bed was alright, but the pillows and duvet were pretty nice
Then in the morning, the USA Today was left for us!
I will stay here again for sure!

My wife booked these rooms online, this is how we usually book rooms. Our whole experience almost turned bad when our babysitter situation fell through. We tried to cancel our reservations but they were firm on there policy!
Turns out, new arrangements for the ankle biters became available and we were able to keep our reservations. Talk about good service! The rooms were neat and clean and the staff was very friendly. The continental breakfast was as good if not better than those of the neighboring establishments.
The location was great and we were very happy! Will stay here again!

This property is three different buildings. The main building is old and all the guest doors open to the parking lot… The other two buildings are across the street from the main building have nicer rooms but are not convenient for guests to deal with desk staff. The main building is old and the rooms are cramped. The water pressure is lacking so don’t expect a enjoyable shower in the morning…
The breakfast area is in a separate building behind the pool and not convent. If your looking for a good selection of breakfast items then this is not a good choice. Limited to just three hot items… Terrible mini sausages, over seasoned scrambled eggs wrapped in a flour tortillas and a mini quiche., they have mini boxed cereals, coffee and orange juice from a concentrate mix., when I was there the breakfast area opened at 7am. When I arrived at 7:15, there were only 4 other people there and the hot items were gone. The kitchen was open but no one was around., I search the whole kitchen area and even shouted out for someone, but no response. I went back outside to the main desk. But the office was closed… While I was waiting the desk clerk drove up and sondered up to the office. When I asked her about the kitchen staff, the desk clerk was clueless.
Went back to the breakfast area, now 7:30… Only to find someone just now in in the kitchen… When I told her about the lack of hot items, she seemed disingenuous and not really interested…
Upon checking out. I found the day staff to be friendly, but really didn’t care about the guests or their experience… I realize that most of their staff are most likely students of the local college. But really? Guest concerns and satisfaction should be the number one priority… All they seemed to care about was turning the room.,
Would I stay there again??? Not likely!!!

Location was tops in downtown Ashland! We were within walking or biking distance to everything, which made our visit even more relaxing. We also discovered the Greenway bike path down the road, a beautiful and fun ride a few mornings in a row!
Our room #791 was on the third floor in the building across the street, a quiet, deluxe king-​sized room with a whirlpool tub, which you bet I checked out after those rides! Never heard our neighbors and the hotel was full. The room was clean, comfortable, and we appreciated the mini fridge, as Ashland Co-​Op is just a 5-​minute walk for fresh produce and snacks.
There were only two things they could improve upon (otherwise would be 5 stars): breakfast is your typical high, white-​carb continental. If you’re low carb or gluten free, it’s meh. Better to grab morning fuel at Morning Glory, Greenleaf or Breadboard. Also it would be awesome if they added secure bike parking.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Bard ‘s Inn and would stay there again on our next trip up!

This is a review for the older rooms where the office is located.
No, no. This place is so noisy. People stamping up and down the stairs. Children next door running around. Ugh, I paid a lot for this room and can barely tolerate my stay.
I’ve stayed in the newer buildings before and had a great time, so if you’re in Ashland ask for the nicer, newer rooms. This is bull.

Hands down the worst motel I have ever stayed at. The suite’s «living room is literally a hallway to the fire escape that they converted into a «suite» to charge $ 280 a night. They left in it some beat up mismatched furniture. On the floor below the «living room» is still a hallway (they haven’t yet converted it into a living room. The hotel is a tourist trap in Ashland relying upon the fact that during the Shakespeare festival their guests are stuck with the outrageous price of their trashy rooms. Never felt so ripped off by a motel.

First visit to Ashland, even though I’ve lived in Portland for thirty years. So glad we decided to finally stay there a night on one of our many road trips elsewhere. Alyce at the desk is a marvel. Truly in love with her city, and a terrific resource of where to go and what to see. Went far beyond her duties, and made our one day there memorable. Room was clean and had comforts I look for — a fridge to store my road food goodies. Hotel was perfect location for exploring city. Thanks Alyce for convincing me to stay!

We have been staying at the Bards for almost 10 years. We love the building across Main Street. Top floor is super quiet. Super nice staff. Good breakfast. Walking distance to everything cool in Ashland.

Update: Came back 5 days later. At check out I spoke with Ally***** — Assistant Best Rad Manager. She was by far a real pleasure. I asked her if she knew about FourSquare. Before I could get another word out of my mouth she asked me «what size?» a had 5 color waiting for me. She said that she saw the review and was hoping I’d come back. #done

Great value for Ashland. Clean, decent beds, free parking, and a couple blocks from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Service is warm and friendly.
Tip: Ask for a room on the 2^nd floor if you want to avoid hearing footsteps above you. If you’re a Costco member, reserve through Costco’s travel website for extra (15−20%) discount.

The Bard’s Inn Motel was a very pleasant surprise!
We booked our accommodations here because a lot of the other places I was interested in were already filled because of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. We were here in late July. This is definitely the BEST Best Western I have ever stayed in.
I was «wowed» just from walking into the lobby to check in. I like how they made the place comfortable and matched the general ambiance of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. From the rooms being named after famous Shakespeare characters, to the theme inspired décor at the lobby, this place had some nice touches to fit in with the whole ambiance of OSF.
Our rooms were across the street. We were fortunate to have a ground floor patio that our 3 year old son and dog could take advantage of. We were just a block away from the downtown shops and two blocks away from the theaters. The location and price can’t be beat! The rooms were similar to ones you would find in 4 star accommodations. The beds were comfortable and rooms spacious.
The staff, especially the front desk person Brianna (spelling), were very helpful in making our stay enjoyable and a great resource for information.
I am glad I found this place and plan on returning again next year.

Typically I stay at a B&B when in Ashland, but this trip called for something different. The Bard’s Inn turned out to be a pretty nice option. It’s close to the theaters and all the shops and restaurants in the area, and there’s a convenient parking lot. The room was small, but the beds were nice and really comfy. We all slept really well. I wasn’t expecting anything from the free continental breakfast, but it ended up surprising me. There was a pancake machine, sausages, quiches, and breakfast burrito with fresh, tasty guacamole. Plenty of space to eat and enjoy the view of the hills in distance.

Small, but cozy.
Clean and comfy beds. Pet friendly always a plus and the fee was only $ 15 for our pug.
The employees are very sweet and helpful.
You really couldn’t ask for much more.
