The staff-Super nice, and friendly! The Wedge is a cool artsy spot to go watch the sun setting over the French Broad, play corn hole, and meet up with friends. * Always a food truck there to grab some food. *I have heard everyone say the beer is EXCELLENT! It’s just a chill spot to hangout, Relax, and have a Good time.

Fun place to go! It’s all about the beer, which is very refreshing. Bartender very friendly and great at making suggestions on which beers to try. Free peanuts are nice too!

Iron Rail IPA was good, nothing to write home about but decent. Large outdoor space, and usually a food truck parked here. Definitely seems like this is «where the kids go»…as in college kids. Just too much focus on games and things and not enough on the beers in my opinion. Not really enough room inside to sit at a bar and chill without being very close to people. Long line for beer so you have to know what you want. Of course this opinion is completely objective, and if I went back during a week day instead of a weekend… things may be different.

Bartender was not polite and rude and frankly disrespectful. She asked for my ID and never cracked a smile or said please or thank you. when I came back one minute later she did the same thing. Ticked me off because of her attitude. It was obvious she didn’t want to be there. Despite all this, I still tipped her and she still didn’t say thanks.

Best brewery in Asheville? It just may be! Located outside of downtown right next to the train tracks, there’s plenty of space to hang out. Head inside and grab an IPA or a hemp beer, and head outside and sit in one of their interestingly high chairs. A bit awkward at first but you get used to it. 300+ people can’t be wrong right?

We come to Asheville every year and try new breweries. A few locals recommended this place. We arrived at 3:50, they opened at 4. When we got there the door was open and the gentleman at the bar started to serve us and the women came out and said to us(a group of 9) «you know we don’t open until 4 right»? With an attitude I might add. They went ahead with much resistants and served us anyways. Total attitude the entire time, continuing to make rude comments. We won’t be back EVER again! Decent beer too but terrible customer service, we would have gladly waited the 10 minutes. The attitude was very unnecessary especially since the 9 of us would have stayed and drank for a while. We left after our first beer. Green man had way better service!

Hands-down absolutely +the best+ and my favorite brewery in Asheville. This is a locals’ spot, if you read the reviews every negative review is from a tourist. I can’t believe people would give the place a two star review because they are too dumb to find it, but that seems to be prevalent issue. Yes it’s hot in the summer, you are at a warehouse in a railyard. Yes it is cold in the winter, you are at warehouse in a railyard. The other thing that makes me nuts reading these reviews are people complaining that they have to read a list of the beers instead of getting a customized personal full explanation of everything on tap from the bartenders??? WTF is wrong with you? When there is a line 15 ppl deep trying to get a beer, bartenders don’t have that luxury! Read the dang board, figure out what you want, have your money ready, and get the hell out of my way so I can quaff an Iron Rail, Third Rail, or a Golem! As for the folks complaining about the children policy, it is a brewery not a playground! Asheville in general is far too kid friendly, especially at drinking establishments. Wedge has a very reasonable set of kids guidelines and yes they do enforce them. If you want your kid to play in a busy parking lot, climb on a rusty sculpture, or throw rocks while you get drunk… You are a bad parent. Unlike most places in town the staff here actually has the backbone to tell you that your little princess or prince is disturbing other people. This is not a play date for children, it is an adult establishment for adults to hang out and drink alcoholic beverages. I love this place and I actively recommend it a lot, but perhaps Ashevillians should make a pact to stop recommending it to out-of-towners! There needs to be *one* place for us(locals). As far as I’m concerned Wedge Brewing is that place!

We had a great time at the Wedge! I loved the tripel beer — so good. The atmosphere has a bit of an industrial feel, given that it is in the River Arts District, but they have added colorful umbrellas and bistro lighting to make it cute. There were free peanuts to snack on, and a food truck was on site as well. Good beer and energy here — I recommend a visit!

Wedge has stiff competition in Asheville, a town that seems to have a craft brewery on every corner. Their location is great, right outside of downtown in the funky River Arts District. The concept/design is fun, too. Lots of rusty old metal tools and widgets everywhere. The only thing lacking is the beer… Don’t get me wrong. Wedge’s beer is good, drinkable. But, nothing special or memorable. I never find myself in Charlotte thinking, «Damn, I really wish I had a so-and-so Wedge beer.»(Like Burial’s Bolo. I DREAM about Bolo.) I hope as Wedge continue to grow, they’ll keep experimenting with their brews and I’ll find one I can’t live without soon.

Cheers to review no 200 and spending it at one of my favorite breweries in Asheville, Wedge! Fun place to grab a few beers, converse with friends and play corn hole. I always have to make my way out here at least once when I am visiting! Tip: they sell cans now

Rustic, recycled, in the heart of the River Arts District, FREE peanuts! Man, what’s not to love about Wedge Brewing Co?! If I lived locally, I think I would easily identify myself as a «wedgie», is that really a thing? Regardless, after a day of art gallery hopping around the River Arts District, Wedge is the perfect stop for a cold one. Hell, you can even get a full pitcher if you’re feeling crazy! Wedge doesn’t have my favorite beers in the area, but they certainly have one of the best atmosphere’s if you really want to get down with the locals AND in the best location for the art lovers. And the Iron Rail IPA is a solid 3.5 in my books. Don’t forget to grab some peanuts and challenge your date to a game of corn hole. Grab a bite to eat at one of the food trucks regularly stationed outside the doors or just grab a seat on one of the many recycled metal objects. P. S. if you really have to go to the loo, look for the«secret» bathroom on the side of the brewery.

Wedge had a really fun atmosphere and darn good beer. I enjoyed the porter immensely. We played several rounds of cornhole outside on the patio. They had plenty of outdoor seating and room to spread out and relax outside. I totally love the industrial feel of this place. The building has an interesting history, as it was a distribution point on the railroad. The tracks run right up next to the patio area outside. I can’t remember what day of the week we visited, but I know it was a weekend. However, they closed super early(I think they closed at 9:00). We were all very sad when it was time to leave.

Quirky, weird, artsy venue with scavenged industrial décor and a large selection of Belgian and American style house beers. Popular tasting room in the«wedge» area of Asheville that is the artsy zone. Unique, outdoor and indoor scavenged industrial décor, modern sculptures. No food menu, 10+ house beers on tap plus a local guest cider tap. Large array of styles attempted here: Belgian Strong Ales, IPAs, Stouts, Strong Dark Ales, Lagers, Sours. All over the place. Sort of spread thin in a way as none of the beers were excellent and some were flops. Best part of this brewery is the outdoor cornhole. Nice vibe. Everyone had a lot of fun.

We sampled three beers, the Julian(a Czech-like Pilsner), the Iron Man & the Golem — all tasty. Great atmosphere. A City Landmark — fun place to bring out-of-towners. My favorite time to come to the Wedge is just before sunset. Drink some brews, sit back with friends, and watch the trains and people go by.

Wedge is wonderful! It has it all! Excellent location in the River Arts District, away from the maddening crowds! Tons of outdoor seating, some of it shaded. Tables, chairs and benches have an industrial edge, many made from recycled materials. The Taproom is small and can get quite packed — it’s more for ordering and going outside, than drinking in. Most of the beers are offered at the bar, but there is a back side door where Iron Rail IPA and select others are available. Growlers are only $ 12 for a fill with a $ 4 initial jug purchase. The beer here is the real deal — the Iron Rail IPA is reminiscent of Ipswich and Westbrook IPAs — robust with a good citrusy and resinous nose but not too intensely hoppy. The Derailed Hemp Ale is another of my favorites. Don’t let the color fool you, it’s still ale. Made with Rye malt and Toasted Hemp seeds, it has a complex but smooth earthy taste that will keep you coming back for more. You know when the other brewers/breweries in town tell you to come here for good beer, that there’s more here than just hype!

Be still my heart: This pace has a lager, a pilsner and an IPA?! This is what I call a great brewery. I’ve said this before: In a Southern world, lagers and pilsner and few and far between, but look at this place speaking to everyone’s beer palate! Bravisimo! This was one of our last stops in Asheville and I am so happy we went after exploring the River Arts District. Everything from the atmosphere to the beer and the handsome fellas working behind the bar, was perfect. This stage outside reminded me of a make shift Moulin Rouge theater and I can imagine how fun those summer nights must be here. The industrial, steam punk/repurposed rail parts(I’m housing they are) furniture is genius. Also: Free salted, in-shell peanuts help give a stream engine worker happy hour vibe. I walk in and imagine someone dirty from work, head to toe… after working with coal all day… cracking peanuts on the outdoor bar table and drinking a cold beer — very Americana. Anyway, this is definitely a must-go if you’re visiting. If you live here, then you already know!

The wedge is one of the top three breweries in Asheville(and there are a ton of breweries here). The location is perfect– in the River Arts District-close enough to walk/bike from downtown or West Asheville yet just slightly off the main drag. The actual space of The Wedge is a large outdoor space along the train tracks that run parallel to the French Broad River. There are picnic tables galore as well as soon covered porch seating. The space really creates a feel of community because of the long communal tables that welcomes sitting along side a complete stranger. The beer here is top notch! My personal favorite is the Iron Rail IPA but I really recommend doing a flight!

Awesome beer, atmosphere, and people watching. We had a couple of flights and sat outside with our dog. There was only 1 food truck there when we went on a Saturday. The line was extremely long(although the food looked good), so we walked 1⁄3 miles down to White Duck Taco Shop and had a delicious lunch!
