The winery is a great stop after a day visiting the house at Biltmore. They have a nice tasting room and a good selection. It’s a good stop!

Perfect way to spend a long afternoon. They will give you all the taste you want… and this wine is good. Make no mistake about that. And you fill out your wish list while tasting, and they get it ready to travel(along with a case discount). Could life be any better? I have but one regret… I didn’t bring enough home. We were traveling and I don’t travel light. And while you can buy the wine locally… not at these prices. Next time I will travel with fewer shoes. The horror of that! I need a glass of wine to calm myself…

We had a wonderful time at the Biltmore. We enjoyed the wine tasting and the tour. We ended up purchasing 4 bottles of wine and completely worth it. The staff was very helpful. The atmosphere was great. We also went when it was 20 degrees outside and they accommodated us well.

Did the premium wine tasting with my fiancé as a couple. Wish I remembered our host’s name, she was a very sweet blonde from Greenville. Fantastic service and great snacks – she even drew a cute little wine glass in chocolate syrup for our truffles. Will upload a picture. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Anything with wine involved should warrant at least 3 stars, but I just can’t do it. The winery is at the end of the Biltmore tour, and it strongly suggested by the staff at the mansion. The good part is the 4 miles drive on the grounds to get to the winery. The grounds(as mentioned in the estate review) are amazing! Once you arrive at the winery, there is a band playing and a creamery is the first store you see. After following the signs, and climbing stairs and following the yellow brick road you FINALLY arrive at the winery. There is a wine tasting room that a hostess guides you to areas of a large bar(s). The wines are pretty good, and that part of the staff was friendly. So after you do your tasting, there is a cute wine bar in the store that you can get a glass or bottle of wine to lounge around and sip on. Sounds nice doesn’t it? I thought so too, until we were completely ignored for around 15 minutes by the not-so-busy bartenders. Finally we walked to the bar, clearly no service at the tables — no wait there IS service at some tables? Oh forget it — give me my wine! So finally we get our glasses of wine, and were able to order the souvenir bottles from the bartender. Everyone at the bar had no sense of urgency and no welcoming personalities. I would have skipped that experience all together. The wines are good, but you can really buy Biltmore wine anywhere in Asheville.

I love wine & work at what I would call a great winery with exceptional quality wine. I would not use those words to describe the biltmore’s wine. You have to wait in a long line before even getting to your tasting bar. Once you get to the bar, the attendant doesn’t even talk about the wine, just asks what you would like to try. It’s not a personal experience at all, because you have to share your tasting with six other people. The tasting attendant spends the majority of them time just trying to keep up with pouring whichever wine the eight different people want to try. They have at least 15 wines you can try & I’m sure if you wanted to they would let you try all of them. They also don’t charge for their tastings so that’s a plus. But I tried several whites and reds(normally I’m big bold dry red, but I’m open to whites) and didn’t find one I even remotely liked. They said they get some of their grapes from Napa area, but clearly sourcing grapes from Napa doesn’t always help. Their winery is also located at biltmore village so their grape vines are nowhere to be seen. The entrance to the tasting room is kind of neat, you walk basically underground into what I imagine is their wine cellar area. Then you pop up in the gift shop location and make your way to the obvious long line to the tastings. The gift shop is actually very nice with lots of great little finds besides for wine. It’s worth the time to just take a look at what they have.

I truly enjoyed all of the red wines on the list. And even purchased a few bottles to bring home. The staff is very knowledgeable. And our server was very friendly & did a great job educating the adults on the wine selections while also entertain my my two young children.

As always, a great visit. Extremely long line for tastings, so we skipped the tasting room this time. Nonetheless, we picked up a mixed case of wine; everything from their Christmas blend to the Viognier. The only complaint I could offer was the fact that the building was stifling warm, bordering on sweltering.

What a delightful experience to have after an impressive visit at the estate. The staff is very knowledgeable about their products and offer great pairings and history of each wine. We were definitely kids in a candy shop after the tasting. The more wine you buy the better deal, the also have some delicious fudge, dips, and snacks in the shop area.

I really enjoyed the winery. Your Biltmore tickets includes 18(yes, EIGHTEEN) tastings. I found that an awesome experience, getting to try a little bit of every type of wine. It sometimes took a little while to get the next tasting, because our bartender would get chatty with a group near us, but that’s ok. Sometimes she’d chat us up too, I didn’t mind too much. The only reason I can’t give this place five stars is that there are no barstools. Now, maybe they did this to keep people moving. But after walking the Biltmore… after walking the gardens… after hiking the Appalachians… My feet were KILLING me, and ready for a rest. Overall, a good experience though. And I LOVE their Malbec. It’s a sweet twist to a classicly oaky wine.

Excellent wine!!! This is a great location to sample wines then purchase a bottle to enjoy on the patio. Friendly wait staff, nice helpful wine stewards, and beautiful landscaping and patio. Patio has a constant flow of visitors so we had plenty of people watching to entertain us while sipping our wine. I’m looking forward to our next trip to enjoy the winery and sample wines on the patio.

Certainly a well-deserved stop at the end of the Biltmore house tour. The Winery is about 3 – 4 miles from the main house, and pretty easy to get to while on the main road. Just don’t make the same mistake that I did by going strictly with GPS directions. I wound up making the turn into a separate facility that was about a mile from the Biltmore winery. To make it easy, just follow the car in front of you. Now, the winery. Parking is easy, yet be mindful that it is unpaved, for those that are walking in fancy shoes or wearing flip flops, or driving convertibles with the top down(flying small stones). The winery entrance is a bit of a walk from the parking lot once you have entered the catacombs. You’ll receive a card rating several wines, from Sauvignons(both Cabernet & Blancs) Chardonnays, red wine and certain Rieslings Pinot Noirs with the Biltmore name associated with them. The wines themselves are somewhat pricey, which is expected. There is always a crowd at one of the tables, yet don’t feel as if you are about to be rushed. Everyone’s palate is different, and while some patrons will stay, others will go. The Biltmore Winery staff is very accommodating with their serving portions, in that they won’t over-serve you, as well as under-serve you. The staff also provides different types of snacks such as crackers and such to keep your palate clean. Water is also available. Altogether, the winery itself worth stopping by. Please note that this isn’t a distillery. The Winery is an updated version of the original, in that it was built in 1985. From all that I know, if there is a distillery on the estate, it isn’t offered as a tour at this point. Yet for the winery, the wine choices are very broad, yet worth tasting.

We loved the broad selection of wines and the fact that, even on the free tasting, you can taste so many… about 20, to be exact.(Of course, you can choose as few or many as you want). We didn’t wait long at all when we came at about 12:30 on a Saturday over Memorial Day weekend. We were told that was the less busy time of day by far. Being from the South, I enjoyed visiting a southeastern winery that had more to offer than muscadine. In fact, there was no muscadine. We walked away with 4 bottles(cost about $ 65 total). 4 stars instead of 5 because the tasting room atmosphere was so bland. I realize it’s historical significance, the old milking room for the Vanderbilt family dairy farm, but it seems like they could do something to make it feel cozier and less like… well, a room for milking cows.

The tasting was alright. There were about 20 different wines but most were not to my liking. They also had a premium wine tasting at the bar inside the shop but I skipped it since I’d had enough wine for the day. The wines are pretty reasonably priced and there are a bunch of other things you can get at the shop. There is a wait, especially on weekends, but the line moves pretty quickly. I would recommend going just for the experience not necessarily the wine.

This place is awesome! I say that mainly because they let you sample ALL of the wines with your purchased ticket to The Biltmore. The place is huge and they have many people on hand to do the wine tastings. There is something like 25 wines that are available for you to taste. I will be back!

It was a helluva good time at this winery. We got here after the tour at the Biltmore, had to form a line, but no big deal, its a Saurday, so it was expected. As soon as we got taken to the wine tasting table we had a blast. Our bartender was amazing, and helped us by teaching us about each wine we picked to try. I think we tried almost all of them. We had a blast, will go back for sure.

We very much enjoyed the free tasting here following our tour of the Biltmore home. The server conducting our tasting did a great job of being attentive but also giving us time to enjoy our tastes. We did not feel rushed, but I’m sure it helped we were there in January after the end of the holiday crowds. Our server also did a great job of explaining to us about each of the wines, and we appreciated that we were able to try as many as we desired. We did not take a tour but we did go to the other bar to try some of the premium wines. It’s an additional fee to try those, and we were fortunately paying attention and noticed that one on the list was the same as one we tried for free in the first room. After making sure this wasn’t true for any of the others, we selected 3 to try. Ultimately, we decided the ones we tried for free were all better than the premium ones. I’m sure everyone’s tastes are different, but we definitely felt we could have just stuck with the free tasting. Ultimately, we had a positive experience and left with about 7 bottles of our favorites that we had samples to take home and enjoy. They’re a bit pricier than our usual price range for wine, but we plan to enjoy them with nice meals and/or for special occasions at home.

I’m not sure what everyone’s bad reviews are here for. If you want a distillery tour, go to a distillery, not a place created over 100 years ago. To be fair, their wines are a tad on the expensive side, but they have so many offerings and most of what we sampled were excellent! We ended up leaving with 6 – 7 bottles. The sampling was very, very tasty. We got to sample anything we wanted, though they recommended sampling no more than 8 offerings as your pallet becomes muddled with much more. This didn’t stop us though and presented an overall very enjoyable experience. Word of advice, however: don’t waste your time with the«premium wine» tasting offered independently of the free tasting at a separate bar. Even they admitted that one of their 4 – 5 additional offerings were one of the same ones you get at the free sampling. Still, the wine was quite good, and we will definitely be returning for more.

One of the better tasting that I’ve experienced. If you tour the estate the winery is included in the price. The tasting offered white, rose’ & red and the server described each wine perfectly as he was pouring. Not the cheapest wine on the planet, but it’s more about the experience sometimes.

Our first visit to Biltmore’s winery rated a bit higher, but this past visit left myself and Mrs. B feeling a bit meh. We weren’t going to visit the house on this trip and from what we could tell the other stuff including the winery was free(usually included in the cost of admission). So when we got to the gate only to find out we still each needed a $ 15 ticket to get on the grounds we were a tad disappointed, but no big deal since most wineries charge for a tasting these days and we knew they had a lot of wine to try. We park and go on in to find it is unusually crowded so we had to wait a good half hour in line before getting into the tasting room. So the tasting experience could use a bit of an upgrade. It is a big room with lots of tasting bars. Not a whole lot of ambience given that it is Biltomore. They have a sheet listing the numerous wines you can try with short descriptions of each, although according to our first taste pourer we shouldn’t rely on the descriptions too much. Not a big deal if they were providing the info voluntarily as they poured. Nope. Our first guy seemed ready to be somewhere else. The second guy was a bit more friendly. The wines were all pretty decent(good to really good). They do have some tastings of the reserve wines for an extra charge. We didn’t opt for those this time around. If you’re touring the house, definitely check out the winery since it is included in the ticket price. Otherwise, save your money for a trip to the wineries in the Yadkin Valley where the wine is just as good and more local.
