Best balsamic I’ve tasted hands down! Their traditional balsamic, aged 18 years, is good enough to drink. It’s thick and sweet and it tastes good on everything(even ice cream, which they let you try)! The owners, Terri and Paul, are very sweet and eager to help you. They have traveled across Europe in search of the best products for their store(and it shows). Some of my favorites include the Traditional, White Traditional, Honey Ginger, Raspberry, and Chocolate balsamics, and the Aulente(unflavored), Greek Herb, Chipotle(big kick), Italian Herb(perfect for bread dipping), Basil, Rosemary, and Persian Lime olive oils. You could seriously spend the day there trying all if the delicious combinations. When you are done tasting, the rest of the shop is equally amazing. It has everything you need for your kitchen and bar, and a lot that you didn’t know you needed until you saw it! They have everything from ground walnut sponges to local coffee, from Mason Cash bakeware to Olivella skin care products, and from wine to spices. This is definitely one of my favorite local shops! *please note that the address on here hasn’t been updated yet. They are now located at 10 Crispin Court in the Gerber Village shopping center.

Sad; it’s closed… been here before and they had good stuff. I hope it was by choice.

Right now I’m topping a plain bed of mixed greens with a blueberry balsamic I got from Tree and Vine. The flavor profile is AMAZING with the sweet notes coming through without making this balsamic seem sugary. I selected this balsamic after multiple samples of various blends in the store. Between the olive oils and balsamics, there are probably 30 – 40 different tasting bottles. The attendee was very knowledgeable and cutely guided me away from using bread with the balsamic(apparently the carbs can disrupt the flavor profile). During my same visit I also bought a 50ml of the Greek olive oil. Apparently that one is a best seller, and I can tell you it has matched with bread, chicken, and salads perfectly. What I like about this store is it isn’t pushy. I don’t cook often, but I like to pop into Tree and Vine because the attendees are always helpful and can guide you to make the right selections based on how you eat. They will also suggest and custom blend some of the balsamic and olive oils for you. it’s really a treat, and I look to go back there again and again.

This past Saturday, I attended a tasting at the Tree & Vine. We started out with a rather bland tasting olive oil, but quickly moved on to some stronger and more flavorful varieties. All of the olive oils are sourced from various independently owned estates in the Mediterranean that the Tree & Vine proprietors have traveled to– including Greece, Italy, Spain, etc. I was impressed by some of the flavored olive oils as well — a couple that particularly were delicious were the Basil infused and one that had Parmesan and Tomatoes — yum! There were also some mushroom infused oils that were pretty tasty. Then, we moved onto tasting the balsamic vinegars. I usually buy only high-quality Balsamic Vinegar from Modena Italy that has been aged at least 12 years in oak and thought that was the pinnacle of balsamic — so needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised with their offerings. There were so many delicious flavors that I really wanted one of everything! But since I couldn’t take them all home, I settled on 3 — including a white balsamic with honey-ginger, a red balsamic with fig, and a red balsamic with cranberry. But, I have to say the chocolate balsamic was delicious too(it would be great on Strawberries and ice cream) and now I wish that I had grabbed one of those as well!(No problem, it’s a good excuse to go back to Asheville, and if I can’t find the time to get back up there soon, I think they will also ship!) The shop also has an eclectic selection of Mediterranean wines which were available at very good prices, so I grabbed some wine as well. In addition, they have some other gourmet treats, such as a delicious tomato-artichoke dip which I believe is made in-house. I also picked up a couple of wonderful olive-oil based cosmetics including a wonderful hand-cream and a lip balm. The proprietors were very gracious, entertaining, and helpful. I hope their shop does well because I definitely plan to stop back in on my next visit to Asheville!

Our second trip to Asheville in as many years brought us back to Tree & Vine(also for the second time). We tasted and ooh’d and ahh’d and narrowed down how to spend the bulk of a hefty gift card. The raspberry balsamic was delightful as was the cinnamon pear and dozens of other varieties, but we had a budget and we had to be choosey. So several olive oils and a few balsamic vinegars later we were on our way. Sign up for the discount — for every $ 100 spent, it’s 10% off. Bring your bottles back and get an extra $ 1 each off. There’s no going wrong here if you know what you like.

Balsamic awesome. The olive oil didn’t taste as good as other places… Butter not buttery, no truffle taste. But that balsamic was awesome

We did an olive oil and vinegar tasting event at this intimate Biltmore Village boutique. The proprietor was most informative and gracious, while the manager was helpful and welcoming. Everyone had fun, got giddy on rich delicious olive oil and enriched our kitchens with truffled salts, peppery olive oils and exotic fruit infused balsamic. They do oil tours of Italy and ensure you are getting high quality, pure oil in their stores. Reasonably priced for the high quality you get.
