El Paraiso

Not impressed. Family of four and none of us thought our food was very good. Don’t think we’ll be back. Food was lukewarm as was the service.

Service is fantastic our favorite Mexican place, we love Freddie. A good variety of salsas. .99 beer. Monday and Tuesday. Cozy atmosphere, unlike El Que Pasa.

Excellent food, great prices, friendly staff. Also, the salsa, and everything, really, is much better than Salsa downtown, but far less expensive. Totaling the check would be a good change.

Bad Bad BAD! I sat down and 10 min later was given a seemingly free basket of chips. I then told the waitress that I wanted a bean burrito. She immediately told me I had to pay for the chips. Hmm I thought that was weird but agreed because I wasn’t in the mood to argue. 20 min later my bean burrito arrived and the waitress placed it about a foot & ½ to the right of me. I thought ok. I went to grab the plate and was badly burned. Ouch! Why wouldn’t the waitress tell me that the plate was that hot? I was done. Never again!

Bad food and worse service. The woman was rude and clearly did not want my buisness. I sat and waited for about 15mins to just get a water and a menu. Then she brought me chips and salsa and I ordered right away. Apparently since I only ordered a bean burrito she said I would have to pay for the chips which seemed weird but I said ok. Then after she brought me a scaulding hot plate (that she didn’t warn me about) I burnt my hand… ugh. I was about to eat my burrito and asked for some more chips. She said I would have to pay extra money on top of the additional upcharge for the first round of chips. At this point I set down my fork and didn’t even take a bite of the soggy looking burrito. I explaned my frustration and she didn’t want to hear it. I paid $ 3.20 for chips and salsa and walked out. Bummer of a dining experience. BUYER BEWARE!

The food is just gross. Nothing home made. My $ 7 and 8 oz Margarita was all mixer. Ordered the spinach and mushroom quesadilla. Mushrooms were canned and spinach was frozen — like Green Giant frozen. My husband had chicken nachos. We both felt sick all night. Décor is cute and clean, but food is so so bad.

Best Mexican food in West Asheville! Great customer service! This is the first Mexican restaurant that I’ve been to that you can actually eat healthy food and not leave filling like you are bloated. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. Worth the trip for sure if you are in West Asheville.

Love this place! Amazing drink specials with great prices. Not as busy as other Mexican restaurants and the waiters are always very friendly. The fajita taco salad is really good. Very fresh. They don’t automatically refill your chips, which is the only downfall ;)

What we wanted was a good and inexpensive margarita when we went to el paraiso, cheap (ish) mexican food is pretty much all the same but I figured we could atleast get a decent margarita. For $ 15.50 for a pitcher (half filled with ice) our margaritas were weak and watery and even the waiter (after we had ordered and received our pitcher) agreed that the house margarita «sucked». The food was all right, nothing terribly wrong, yet nothing spectacular. I’m not sure of better places in west asheville, I just moved here, but I am certain they exist.

Great location. We had an issue with substitutions. I tried getting them to switch a beef enchilada with a chicken one… they wanted to charge an additional $ 1. So I got them to give me a bean enchilada instead. Almost any substitution costs $ 1. To have to haggle with the waiter is not a good first impression. The food was okay… I’ve had better Mexican.
