I’ve ordered takeout occasionally over the last year. Good Fortune is definitely my favorite Asian takeout. The quality is consistent and the service very good. On the rare order with a mistake all it takes is a phone call and they send out the correct item. Our favorites are the the Twin Flavor Chicken, Hot and Sour Soup, and the Eggplant with Thai Basil. Definitely like the food better than a half dozen other Chinese restaurants around me.

Meh. I live in the thick of strip mall suburbia. Every strip mall has a Chinese restaurant, they all source their ingredients from the same distributors, and they all employ the same cost-cutting strategies. This restaurant doesn’t really stand out. I will, however, give them props for adding a generous portion of pineapple and vegetables to their sweet and sour(because who wants to eat plain fried meat and red syrup?). The dumpling filling tasted good to me… finely ground and garlicky. And my delivery was faster then anticipated… can’t knock ‘em for that. But I’m just not«wowed.»

Good Fortune is my go to for Chinese takeout, I had to break up with Chin Chin a long time ago and was so happy to discover this place! I am a person who likes to try all kinds of things on the menu, and most of the time I am disappointed. Never happens with this place!!! I am head over heels in LOVE! The only thing that was kinda meh, were the lettuce wraps… but the orange chx, pipa tofu, and the beef is always so tender, hmmm and the egg rolls! D-e-l-i-s-h Support them you wont regret it!

We love this place. We’re vegan and they have a separate vegan menu that makes ordering super easy. Our favorite thing is the steamed veggie dumplings, but all the food we’ve tried has been delicious. The service is always great and the prices are awesome.

My office orders food from here often, and today was the WORST ever. We kept giving them another chance, so shame on us for even giving them a second chance. They constantly forgot to give us food we paid for, the driver was never nice, and today … my boss found SEVERAL long black hairs in his food. Not one wrapped around, but THREE(3) long hairs, wrapped in his General Tso and white rice. Needless to say, we’ll never order from here again.

This is by far my favorite Chinese place in town. I eat a vegan diet and they have an extensive, delicious, all-vegan menu! It’s a family-owned business, which I love, and it’s always great to see the family all doing their parts at the restaurant. The portions are generous, and it’s an great value for the money. This is the place we always think of first when we want to eat out. Delicious!

Pretty quick, and convenient as most Chinese food restaurants. This is family owned and you can see the boys with their mom. The food was always consistent. I find that this is one of the better Chinese food stops. Not bad.

Did take-out from here a few days ago. Food was alright for the price, nothing special. But the lady at the desk didn’t look up from the game on her cell phone when I walked in the door or to even take the order.

This is our go to Chinese place mostly because of price. With their never ending 10% coupon, they are definitely cheaper than most. We always order hot and sour soup, spring rolls, and a few dishes. The soup is average, but I’m not saying that as a bad thing. They are always prompt in making our order. The owners son is normally working the desk. He can’t be more than 12 years old, but he is good(and I’m pretty sure there are child labor exceptions for small family businesses)

Tried Good Fortune for the first time today. The food was very good and the service was great. We had the egg and spring rolls, fried rice, moo shi pork and shrimp lo mein. Every dish was delicious.

Many fresh flavors and good cuts of chicken. Got takeout and the kids loved the sweet and sour chicken, though I thought the coating was a little mushy from transport. The containers needed to vent so there wouldn’t be so much condensate. Online order was ready for carryout within 20 minutes on Saturday night. The middle-school aged son, we think, got us our food between phone orders he handled. Love to support a family business. Excellent food and good quantities. I ordered two sweet and sours because my kids usually mow through more than one, but not here — they hardly put a dent in the second one and ate like normal. The Thai fried rice was a bit bland and fishy on the nose, though. The Hunan chicken was ordered spicy online, with a note«extra spicy, please» but it wasn’t much past basic American heat.

I’ve been trying to find somewhere in Ashburn that I like and so far none of the Chinese restaurants had really impressed me. Good Fortune was awesome. I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein and Steamed Meat Dumplings. All were delicious. The food came quick and I was able to do online ordering and pay with Paypal. The only negative I have is that I put a note on my order for extra dumpling sauce and didn’t get it. I will definitely be ordering from here next time I want Chinese.

Ahh yes, its a bit of a drive for me but worth it. We had Fried Dumplings(Maybe the best I have ever had), Chicken lo mein, and General Tso Chicken. Freshness and flavor is what it boils down to with Chinese food. This place has both and the staff was very friendly. I am not going to give it a five star yet. We had some very basic dishes and they were wonderful, however, on later updates and after several other dishes I might give them the coveted Chinese food five-star.

Taiwanese Menu! Friendly service in this small place that is mostly designed for take-out and delivery. They have a typical American style Chinese menu. But for Chinese food enthusiasts, this place is a bit of a hidden gem because they also prepare off-the-menu Taiwanese dishes upon request. Seeing some of the pictures here on Unilocal,I went with my kids to try the Taiwanese options. We ordered pipa tofu(deep fried tofu-shrimp balls in shiitake mushroom sauce), which was very delicious — tender, oozing, flavorful soft tofu waiting inside each ball. We also ordered seafood panfried noodle, which was pretty good — good and salty, which I was happy about because some places make the white sauce for this dish pretty bland. And lastly we had Three Cups Chicken. Although it is traditionally prepared bone-in, this was served boneless. It appeared to be thigh stir fry meat. I was okay with this because they basil and ginger perfumed sweet soy sauce was really really good, plus being boneless made it easier for my kids to eat. I also really enjoyed their plain white rice, which was well made. I love it when a restaurant has perfectly cooked rice. The owners are actually Mainland Chinese from two different provinces, but it’s the chefs back in the kitchen who are Taiwanese, just FYI for any connoisseurs reading this.

As a regular Chinese restaurant, they probably deserve 4 stars; however, their many tasty vegan options are excellent, and their willingness to prepare them without oil or added fat and serve them with brown rice all with no added charge take them well over the top! If you are pursuing a healthy vegan lifestyle, you have probably been disappointed all too often by vegan restaurants that load their dishes up with sugar, oil and fat. Good Fortune certainly has the fried vegan options, but they also prepare dishes in a healthy manner upon request. The kicker is that their vegan options can stand on their own taste wise when compared to traditional dishes. Good Fortune was our favorite local Chinese place before we adopted the vegan lifestyle; they’re our favorite vegan restaurant, now!

Good Fortune is a small family-run restaurant in a strip mall in Ashburn. We found it by accident due to a homemade sign advertising vegan food in the window. There are two little boys who are often here after school with their mom, who seems to run the restaurant. Everyone is very friendly and the kids being there adds to the charm. There is seating but it seems like most people grab carry-out. I’ve never had an issue with finding weird things in my food. They have standard meal options you see in most Chinese joints in the area, but for me the big draw is their vegan/vegetarian fare. I’ve had veggie dumplings which were pretty great, sesame vegan«chicken»(also comes in vegan beef, as do most of the dishes) which is always good but note that it only comes with a few broccoli florets, sweet and sour«chicken» that are fried and you dip in sweet and sour sauce, and i particularly like the vegan«cashew» chicken — which is sauteed chicken-flavored tofu and comes with a variety of veggies. The portion sizes will fill you up, I usually have leftovers. This is a solid spot to get some flavorful Chinese food, especially if you’re looking for veg options that go beyond boring steamed veggies!

I have to laugh at some of the people that are criticizing the food here, as it is great, especially for a mini mall Chinese food restaurant. You want fine Chinese cuisine? Hop a plane to China and dine on the Great Wall. You want some quick, tasty food because you are too lazy to cook or are hung over from a night of questionable activities? Call Good Fortune and enjoy. This place is a pretty authentic family-run establishment too. If you dine in, prepare to have your order taken by a kid with a memory that makes you feel stupid. He once took an order for 8 people without writing anything down, and he got it all right. Incredible. He will then proceed to practice ping pong behind the counter while you eat, which is hilarious. To the guy that found the fingernail in his tofu – did you try putting soy sauce on it and chasing it with an ice cold beverage? I say just down that sucker and pretend you never saw it. Or better yet, next time just order meat.

We tried the meatless chicken drumsticks, a soup(egg, corn, and chicken soup), pipa tofu, mongolian or peking lamb(forgot how it was worded in the menu), and salt & pepper pork chops. In general, everything is not bad for the dishes we ordered are more on the traditionally made, which was a pleasant find for this area. The pipa tofu consists of tofu, shrimp, cilantro, and shiitake mushrooms dumplings, fried and placed in a thickened sauce. It was flavorful and a pleasant rendition of this dish. It’s probably a tad more flavorful than Yen’s Café’s version with the mushrooms and cilantro. However, Good Fortune’s version doesn’t come with any vegetables. The other dishes we tried were pretty tradition in how they were made with flavors that pleased SX. However, I did wish that there were some vegetable garnishes for each dish, considering the price. The mongolian or peking lamb had great punches of flavor, predominantly cumin. The salt and pepper pork chops were crisp and juicy. These dishes are large and great for eating family-style. The meatless drumsticks was a fun dish and actually quite fun to eat. SX, a known meat eater, enjoyed eating them too. So definitely something to try. Many of the other customers here were ordering off of their vegan/vegetarian items. It’s something we would probably come back to try. This is a pretty small place with seating available. There’s only one person waiting on tables and she also mans the counter for take out orders and telephone orders. Service here was pleasant and aware of certain diets and allergens. In addition, service here can speak Mandarin and English well. This place and Yen’s Café are probably so far some of the more traditional Chinese/Taiwanese food around in this immediate area.
