Such a delightful visit with amazing food! Calamari appetizer was cooked to perfection. Lamb loin & scallops with risotto were equally delish! Chocolate sorbet was amazing. Large portions and presented beautifully. Friends had meatless(eggplant) meatballs & specials that looked very good. Banana bread pudding was enormous. Chef Jeff was personable & great guy. Looking forward to my next visit!

I would even opt to give 2 and a half… My boyfriend and I arrived, and we actually had a perfect corner table with a view of the entire restaurant. It’s a small place, but the atmosphere is really nice and old timey in a good, classic type way. The service was also great– the waiter gave me a wine suggestion and it was the best glass of red I’ve ever had. We were brought bread(really good) and our water glasses were constantly filled. We had calamari as an appetizer and we enjoyed it– not the best I’ve ever had and there were no tentacles! Our problem was with the quality of our entrees. My boyfriend ordered the scallops over risotto. Scallops were cooked perfectly, but both the scallops and risotto were lukewarm. My entrée, the Kobe short rib with potato cake– short rib was again, lukewarm if you could even call it that and my potato cake(really just a rectangle of lumpy mashed potatoes) was cold… COLD. We ordered desert– I got chocolate lava cake which was delicious; my boyfriend got a pumpkin/sweet potato pastry– we were expecting it to come out warm with whipped cream or ice cream… Again, COLD. In fact, ice cold. It was a shame– the service was great as was the bread(lol) and I have to say, our meals would have been great, too, if they were hot. You pay $ 30−40+ dollars for a plate of food, it better come out piping hot! I was really disappointed after reading some of the reviews. We were going out for a nicer dinner than what we usually do to celebrate and it wasn’t what I had hoped for– I kind of wished we picked another place, especially after spending almost $ 200. We probably won’t return.

Wow is my best description! Cool vibe at the hotel restaurant. The wait staff was excellent and only enhance the experience. The wine was good and priced fair. The menu was small but diverse and I had no issues with selections. The eggplant meatball appetizer was outstanding as was my short rib main course. A friend had the elk steak, which was very good and rare to find. Pumpkin tart dessert didn’t disappoint and after dinner drink selection was on point. I would 100% go back to this asbury park gem and suggest off season to enjoy the quiet atmosphere. Don’t miss it!

The food was so very good! Stayed at the hotel/BB this past Labor Day weekend. Had dinner in the restaurant one night and ate at the bar the other. Both times, the food was fresh, pleasing to the eye, flavorful and most importantly, not overdone. I can see why this is a neighborhood favorite.

One of Asbury’s best kept secrets. If you didn’t know it was there you’d miss it. The ambience provides a surprising balance between modern chic and vintage charm. The service is second to none and each of their unique menu items, I’ve tried, has been awesome.

I am a huge fan of the chef and food at The Tides Restaurant — so much so that my husband and I decided to hold our rehearsal dinner there the night prior to our wedding. The entire staff was amazing and the service was superb. They made our entire group feel like family. The food is consistently outstanding, and they make the best cocktails! The manager, Ryan is an absolute pleasure to work with and really is another draw to go and hang out there. I highly recommend going and I cant wait to go back!

I had a great meal at The Tides Restaurant on Thursday. The salmon with the lobster sauce was one of the best salmon dishes I’ve ever had. Thursday is also mac and cheese night and I got the lobster mac and cheese special as an appetizer. I was impressed with the about of lobster that came in the mac and cheese and that came with my salmon. My wife ordered the Cowboy steak and the roasted poblano and corn bisque. She said both were also excellent. We definitely plan on coming back again in the near future. The menu is a bit pricy, but the portions are large and the food is top quality. Check this place out if you’re in town looking for an upscale meal.

The worst. There is a waiter there who must be related to the owner because that’s the only way to explain how he hasn’t been fired. Totally rude, cursed out a table of customers, used a religious slur, then refused to serve them. Completely unacceptable, even if a customer is being difficult. Complained to the owner or manager and nothing was done. Do not patronize this place.

I have long held a great admiration for the care, attention to detail, and pride that great chefs(whether home chefs from around the world or professional) take in not only the quality of their ingredients but their methods for achieving that«oh so perfect» result. The chef at the Hotel Tides Restaurant is one of those great chefs. His familiarity and knowledge of global cuisine, and their preparations, lends a level of sophistication to each and every dish that comes out of the kitchen. I’m prompted to write this review because I just ate the best short rib of my life. I’ve eaten almost everything on the menu without fear of disappointment and I haven’t been yet. The service is outstanding and the bartenders are always excellent! I can’t recommend it highly enough.

What a wonderful surprise. The place doesn’t look like much when you drive up, but walk in and you are transported to a luxurious place in the early 1900’s. We really enjoyed the food. My daughter said the filet was better than Morton’s. I had the short rib which was lean but still soft and very tastie. The bread pudding dessert had us all rolling our eyes… It was delightful. The new york cheesecake was quite good. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. We are looking forward to returning.

Love this place! The food, the waitstaff, the interesting history and look of the restaurant… nothing like it for miles. I love that it is an undiscovered gem of a place. I started my night with a Pomegranate Poinsettia cocktail… I regret not asking for another flute of this concoction. Spicy Eggplant meatballs, butterscotch bacon, and crab cakes were amazing! Based on the waiter’s recommendations, I enjoyed their scallop & lobster fra diavolo with black(squid ink) linguini. The spicy kick was just right and loaded with lobster claw meat and scallops. My husband enjoyed the hefty Porterhouse pork chop. We tried the Nutella cheesecake — texture was more Italian ricotta than creamy Philly which is my preference. I was very disappointed that there was not much Nutella. The Oreo Bread Pudding was FABULOUS! Not soggy and full of chocolate Oreo taste! I am already counting the days until my next meal at Tides.

Good for a larger group that won’t wait in line at other busier Asbury places. But less and less a ‘first choice’ option, given the high price points, the off track location and what feels like a very still and airless dining space. You can count on a reliable meal for the special family occasion and the menu is just slightly better than anything you would find in a decent hotel lobby. it is somewhere below a W Hotel and somewhat above a Marriot Courtyard experience My last meal there was consistently good if not great. The menu is earnest like the service. Competition is getting better and Tides seems a little stagnant. And you will spend money there– a soup, drink maybe a pork chop($ 36?!!)). — it is tipping towards not being in balance with the overall experience. However it still manages not to disappoint if not excite. It could benefit from a rejuvenated menu and dining area.

Returned last night with a large party to celebrate a graduation and they were able to accommodate us last minute. The food was delicious, creative, and highlighted seasonal ingredients. We had a variety of dietary restrictions and they accommodated without fuss. The appetizers we shared were the eggplant meatballs for our vegetarians which were delicious, perfectly fried calamari, and an unforgettable crab cake. We had a fantastic night and were really impressed with the service and ambiance. They let us sit, mingle, and catch up for hours without ever rushing us. One of the highlights of AP.

I pulled up to a white house which didn’t appear to be anything special but when we walked inside the atmosphere is rich with an early 1900’s feel. Solid wine list… we were teetering between two wines and the waiter brought us a sample of each to help us decide, which was very helpful. Fried calamari was cooked perfect with a peanut soy dipping sauce which was a surprisingly nice pairing. The chicken milanese was served with a salad that had lots of flavor and filled with various veggies. The salmon was served over a lobster and veggie cream sauce that was full of flavor and complimented the salmon nicely. The staff was pleasant and an overall great experience. There is also a relaxing wrap around front porch that looks like an inviting place to have a drink. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal!

I really enjoyed my experience at the Tides Restaurant. The Restaurant is located inside of a boutique hotel on 7th Avenue in Asbury Park. The hotel is completely off the regular beaten paths of the Boardwalk and Cookman Avenue. So you definitely want to drive here, rather than parking at one of those other locations and walking. At the foot of the restaurant is a nice bar you can sit at while awaiting your table. They have the usual cocktails, wine, and beer for you to choose from. You then step into the dinning room and are provided with a great menu of selections from which to choose from. This was my first time here, and I ordered the stuffed Portobello mushroom as an appetizer, and the heirline duck breast as my entrée. Both were amazing and I would never hesitate to order either again. My dining companion ordered the pulled pork appetizer. This was cooked in a «cream soda reduction» which unfortunately made it too sweet for our tastes. We wouldn’t have that again. However, the short ribs she ordered for her entrée were excellent. We enjoyed the Tides wine list –An Argentinian Malbec was our choice for the night —- and then for dessert, we ordered what was essentially a profiterole with a cookie dough filling. I could have eaten multiple of those. Its a definite must to try. The service at the Tides could not have been more spot on. Our waiter was prompt, incredibly friendly, answered all of our questions, filled our wine glasses when they needed to be. He was all around attentive the way a good waiter should be. As I said, I really enjoyed my experience at the Tides. I would not hesitate to go back and look forward to doing so in the near future.

Eclectic Asbury Park small lobby bar and dining room, we opted not to sit down but rather hang at the bar and sample their apps. Decent, but nothing to write home about is the best way to describe our experience although on the plus side was a very nice pour on the red wine albeit pricey at $ 9 a glass for an average Argentine Malbec. Unfortunately, it was not very busy last night so consequently the staff spent to much time hanging around the lobby bar area kibitzing. They are OK here but after spending about a hundred bucks for four glasses of wine and four apps — I expected more. We would not run back here again anytime soon.

I gave this place five stars because I don’t know what I didn’t like about it. Oh yeah… don’t let the«hotel» part of this restaurant dissuade you. It doesn’t feel like one at all… in fact the whole place doesn’t seem like a hotel(in a good way). Going to have a write a quick review because I’m losing patience writing right now and I kinda have to use the little turtle’s room. Place was unexpectedly cool looking inside. The outside appeared to be just a random old-ish looking house with a large deck but inside you’ll find some artsy fartsy décor that was nice and not overdone. People say the dining room was a bit boring? It seemed fine to me. It was a big open room where you could see every table from any vantage point within the room. The lighting was spot on. Our waiter was this nice dude who was lively, affable, friendly, personable, and other good things. Guy brought out hot bread. I ate mine too quick. He gave me more. They had olive oil for dipping the bread into. Appetizers: We got shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. And salad. Both were good, however the cocktail sauce could use a little more horseradish, and when I requested more, dude just brought out more of the same stuff. Worse things have happened. No big derl. Not enough shrimp though. Could’ve used a few more, maybe two or three. Menu/food: Menu was perfect. A list of items not exceeding more than about 8 entrees. This is indicative of a chef and the food was expertly crafted. I got the salmon with asparagus and cherry tomatoes, she got the risotto. Both were excellent. The salmon was cooked perfectly: seared and crispy on the outside and not cooked to death on the inside(but rest assured the inside of the salmon was also dead) and had some crab stuff on the top. Good stuff. Risotto was tasty I don’t know what else to tell you. Drank: The best part was the wine. We both ordered by the glass and he poured much more than a standard glass of wine. Glasses were like 9 bucks each. Cheap for an expensive place, especially for the amount they pour. Wrap Up/Pricing: Even though we got there at their last seating, they treated us well and didn’t rush us. Our food tasted like it was prepared with care. I would go back here. Bill was like $ 123.04* for two appetizers, two entrees, two large glasses of wine, a coffee and an espresso. *Okay, that’s exactly what it cost(including tip). 10⁄10 would come back again.
