great experience here yesterday. walked in when they were rushing to get bikes in for the coming storm but didn’t stop them from fixing my flat right away while I waited(which was great since I was then able to have a gorgeous ride this morning). Shane was so courteous and friendly, he even let me hang around and watch so I could learn, giving me some instruction along the way. I’m sure the management must know they have a great guy there. I went to Dan to compliment Shane, I thought Dan was the manager because he was aware of and gave his attention to everything that was happening in the shop and was the go to guy for the other staff, and was surprised that he didn’t hold that position — very cool having staff with that attitude. I know it was one quick visit but my impression was knowledgeable, customer service oriented, and I’m bringing my husband’s bike there today!

Compelled to write this in response to recent nasty review that was completely nebulous and inane. This is a great shop. I’ve dealt with them for 3 decades, buying over a dozen bikes — pinarellos, cannondales, treks, Gary fishers, etc for wife, daughter and self. Terrific, professional service from owner, sales floor & mechanics. Only problem to be had is that they’re so well respected that they can’t always get something ready for you by the next day. But if you have a real emergency, I’ll bet they try — they’ve come through for me on that account before! I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

We bought two beach cruisers here last week. The staff was so friendly and patient. I literally tried 10 bikes and 5 seats. We got what we wanted and we left happy. They sell all kinds of bikes but mostly beach cruisers and other low price point bikes. They do repairs and rentals as well. No five stars because they really do not move on price. We bought two bikes, a seat, basket and flower… we got a small break on price but nothing to write home about.

Rented bikes for a day at the beach. Prices were affordable. Helmets do come with the rental(a previous tip said they didn’t). A clerk adjusted the seat for us and we were off enjoying Asbury Park.

Don’t come here to get your bike repaired. They take forever and will tell you that walk-ins take precedence over your order. It took them 3 hours to fix a flat tire.

Never again! I like to support the businesses on the Asbury Park Boardwalk, even when they are overpriced, just to thank them for helping revitalize the town. BUT… I paid to have a flat tire fixed last Monday — never did get the promised phone call telling me when it was ready to pick up. After picking it up on Tuesday, and paying $ 20 to fix the flat, I went for a ride on Thursday and found that the tire had been replaced so tightly that it didn’t spin without great effort. I brought the bike back to be adjusted, and had to wait ten minutes while one of the clerks chatted pleasantly with another customer… and another repair tech stood by and watched. My tire was adjusted to spin, and I commented that I thought it was quite alarming that the repair tech didn’t bother to check to see if the wheel had been put back on properly. I finally got to ride a bit today, only to hear a metal-on-metal sound that had not been present before. I brought it back, and the repair tech said it was an odd sound. Then he suggested it was inside the hub, and that age and wear had caused the failure and I’d need a new hub. I reminded him that the sound hadn’t been present before, and that if there had been a sudden mechanical failure, it was probably directly caused by the improper installation of that tire. The implication was that I needed to buy a new wheel, or get extensive work done, and that their own sloppy and expensive work had nothing to do with it. I’d have been happy to get a refund of the $ 20 for having a plump tire that doesn’t turn properly anymore… or an offer to repair the damaged part at cost, or a great offer on buying one of their rental bikes… but instead, was condescended to for having an older bicycle. Good luck Brielle cyclery — you make a nice first impression with the ocean view, but I don’t like having my old reliable bike rendered useless with the expectation that I’ll replace it with one of yours… that’s not going to happen. I’ve been bringing three bikes there for minor repairs and accessories for the past five years, but I’d rather drive 20 miles than give them another dollar.

I enjoyed the process of picking out my new bike at Brielle Cyclery. The staff members I spoke with were friendly and answered all of my questions. I truly hope that the experience shared by Scott A. is not standard since I just purchased a Trek navigator and have not experienced any trouble — yet? I will re-post after returning for my 60 day«tune up». One advantage is the 3.5% reduced sales tax on purchases.

Very clean store who has until today been very accommodating. However, upon getting a flat tire today on my 5 week old Trek, it took three attemptes to «repair» the problem, each time going flat again, each time having to walk the bike back a minimum of one half mile, in 98 degree temps. When I phoned to express my displeasure, the young gentleman who answered the phone had the unmitigated nerve to say«we can’t control the weather» followed by «I hate to say it Sir, s*** happens». I paid just under $ 600 for this bike, light basket and lock, the third and last bike I will buy at this store. I could have purchased the same bike for $ 125.00 less but wanted to support the local business. If you are going to allow the help to answer the phone and allow them to handle an unhappy customer, you may want to provide some training! After the second attempt, I would have taken the wheel off of an in stock bike, or at minimum, test rode the bike to make certain it was repaired. Do yourself a favor and save money at the same time. Buy elsewhere!

*3.5 Stars Rented a beach cruiser on a nice Saturday afternoon. I must say that their customer service is top notch. The beach cruisers were my only problem. For example, my friend’s bike seat kept riding up and down, and the handles on my bike failed to stay centered and were real lose. But since it was a nice Saturday afternoon, we continued our trek through the boardwalk. Can’t complain anymore, since they provided great friendly customer service. 3.5 on the Unilocal scale.

Great selection of beautiful beach cruisers for purchase and rental. Nice staff, reasonable prices. They don’t take reservations and didn’t offer us helmets when we rented. Next time want to rent one of the pedal cars and ride the boardwalk like we used to do as kids in Atlantic City.
