Michael«Red» took over here within the last year or so and I had not had a chance to try it until recently when a friend booked the place for a birthday party for his wife. With 25+/-pers, we took the place over. I was unsure how they would cope with such a large group in the midst of a Saturday night. OMG. It was one of the most professionally delivered dining experiences I’ve had in Taos, ever. The staff was kind and relaxed while at the same time attentive, professional and personable. Before dinner drinks were almost like being at someones house with a caterer. Dinner ordering was so smooth. All the food was sensational. 25 dinners all served hot and timely. And the tastes were all unique and of the highest caliber. I was more than impressed and will be going back again, and again. Red, you need to somehow get in the search results for Taos so all our visitors don’t miss you!

I so enjoyed my visit at Aceq! The owner shared a bit with our party about how he was relaunching(is that correct?) the restaurant, and it’s clear that much intention goes into the details of the restaurant. At the time of our visit, it was only open about 4 hours every night! I loved their green chile tater tots – they’re huge and a must-get! The meat that I got was good, but it didn’t exactly blow me away for the price. I’d love to return to get their fish of the day. Some of our friends got the burger special, which at the time was a patty in between two texas toast grilled cheese with french onion soup(what!). The menu is local and creative. The local pottery that the owner purchased is a pretty penny, and beautifully made! Would recommend for anyone visiting the Arroyo Seco area.

Lovely restaurant with delicious ‘high end’ food located in Arroyo Seco downtown. The owner Michael personally welcomes you to the place and clearly works hard to make sure Aceq is running successfully. My favorite items were from the appetizer menu(tater tots and brussels sprouts… AMAZING!). Our group scarfed them down. Their main entrees were still tasty but could improve a bit given the higher price point. Overall, it’s clear that the ingredients are fresh and natural. The menu has a wide variety of items from a ‘burger of the day’ to a ‘fish of the day’ for everyone in the family to enjoy. The owl theme from the logo is cute and playful. Even during a snowstorm, there were a good handful of locals dining there. Michael diligently shoveled the snowy walkways to ensure patrons could enter the restaurant without trouble. The next time I’m in town, I’ll definitely return. What a great small business with hardworking staff and good food.

Fabulous! Small, warm great menu, all fresh and made on site. Great wine list friendly staff and the chef is creative and knows his craft. I had half a roasted chicken that was perfectly prepared with slightly crisped skin and succulently juicy on the inside. the local green salad with a refreshing vinaigrette was luscious and the baguette served alongside did not disappoint. Capped off with a scrumptious rendition of crème brûlée that had a light citrus flavor and perfectly Caramelized top made it worth the drive. I will go back the next time I am in town and the owner was friendly and warm just like his restaurant.

From the warm, friendly greetings to the friendly, cozy atmosphere, it only got better. This locally owned treasure is FILLED with locals — always a good sign. Our group of four tried quite a bit and raved about all we ate. Brussels sprouts? Not something I eat but the plate was practically scraped by the other three. We also ordered the special appetizer for the night — farm fresh, delicious tomatoes with burrata and balsamic vinegar. Devoured. And not sure if it was on the menu but one of the locals requested fries with cheese curd and gravy. Talk about comfort food! As for main courses, the burger was the special of the night and they were prepared to perfection and packed with flavor. As for me? I could not resist the fried chicken and gravy. It was crispy and moist and divine. I could only eat half but the leftovers made it home and were great for lunch. Have to mention that the owner, Michael, selected the perfect Pinot Noir for me and I left not a drop. Too full for dessert? Not this night. Chocolate Cream pie split three ways. Out of town travelers might not find this local treasure so I hope this Unilocaler helps change that should you find yourself in Taos! Okay, headed for the gym.

A hidden gem in Arroyo Seco. Michael(the owner) pays attention to every detail. He has a very nice wine selection with knowledgeable advice on the characteristics of each wine. The food is fresh and very well prepared taking advantage of the simplicity of delicious fresh food. The Brussels Sprouts are the best! The staff is friendly and attentive. We came twice in our week long visit to Taos this summer.

Absolutely the best food and best hospitality around the greater Taos area. Michael, the owner, knows his wines, pairs with personal tastes combined with the dishes. The Brussels sprouts… I will never eat anywhere else, only here. The bison burger, medium rare rocks. Give Aceq your attention.

Best place near Taos. Definitely worth the visit. The coleslaw was made from fennel and was awesome. The service and environment are awesome. The fried chicken dish and the authentic ribs with their homemade sauce was excellent.

When people sweat the details, excellence follows. This is the best restaurant in the greater Taos area hands down. Very small, just a handful of tables and a counter, with a kitchen to match, but it produces food that would hold its own in New York, Miami, Chicago or LA. It has beer and wine selections chosen with equal care. Michael, the owner, is obsessed with sourcing local vegetables and produce, but, a Wisconsin native, the cheese curds in the green chile poutine are pure Cheesehead. Their menu is small but mighty: The slow cooked ribs have a BBQ sauce that is sweet with s touch of heat and they fall perfectly off of the bones. The salad was local greens but the dressing, sparingly applied and the dates, craisins and pistachios popped like a flavor symphony. They had a German beer that had a cherry flavor added to a pale ale that was amazing. The Ahi poke too was great. The chicken and waffles are purported to be the bomb but they ran out before I could get it. The Chocolate cream pie and the blueberry shortcake were both excellent. If you’re in Taos, this is just s little off the beaten path, but well worth your while to make the drive!

This is a hidden gem tucked neatly away in Arroyo Seco on the outskirts of Taos. The lamb burger was absolutely the best burger I’ve ever eaten. Atmosphere is friendly and cozy and the food is expertly prepared. A place for foodies.

I really, really loved this restaurant. We(group of 4) stopped here on our way out of town after a day of skiing. We ordered the brussel sprouts, lamb ribs, kale salad, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and a slice of chocolate cream pie and shared them family style. The portions were perfect for us(again, hungry group of four), and everything was fresh, well-prepared, and delicious! The atmosphere was rustic/cozy/casual, and it was nice and warm in the sunroom. The server was wonderful, but they definitely take a french approach(translation: those in a hurry might find eating here stressful; however, if you go with friends to chat and enjoy good food, you will likely really enjoy the place). We will definitely be back whenever we are in town!

My first visit to Aceq was a year ago while visiting Taos on a ski trip and I had what I proclaimed at the table«The BEST fried chicken I’ve ever had.» I ordered the chicken and waffles and it obviously struck a chord. A year later my husband and I returned to Taos for another ski trip(we’ve fallen quite in love with the area) and Aceq was on our short list of must-see/must-do. In anticipation I asked my husband if we thought we would still find this«The BEST» in terms of fried chicken and I’m happy to say we did. A week later I’m home in Austin, still dreaming of my next visit. It’s really that good. The brussel sprouts are pretty spot on too.

Chicken and waffles are a rare soul food treat I will drive for. And these are solidly good. I almost a didn’t find out when my husband spied a bowl of $ 15 posole on the menu. Then, the $ 9 calabacitas nearly drove him into a full blown meltdown. But I encouraged we stick it out and give the chicken a try. It was worth it. The waffles were perfect and the chicken tasty. The poutine was ok. Like everything else on the menu that wasn’t meat, it was overpriced for what is was(where I come from we call them fries, covered and smothered). But it was enjoyably different. It’s cold inside so bring or wear a sweater. We’ll go back because he got all a twitter over someone’s lamb burger. ;)

Farm fresh ingredients, including the meats, and a comfort-food menu in an informal setting make ACEQ a singular treat. Prices are reasonable. Service can be quirky, which isn’t unusual for this area, but our dinner went smoothly after we were relocated to a non-wobbly table. The food is simple. It’s all about the quality: At the first bite you’ll instantly know why chicken used to be a luxury food before it was factory-farmed. Lamb-burger is heavenly. The restaurant is in the center of Arroyo Seco, the quirky little town with roadside potters on the road between the town of Taos and Taos Ski Valley. Look for the sign with«ACEQ» and an owl on it, next to the Abominable Snowmansion. The reasonable prices attract the quirky locals. This place should attract you, too. This is in the top tier of Taos food, along with Love Apple.

Oh wow, this place is good! I live in San Francisco so have high expectations for food. The ingredients are really fresh and local — not to mention combined to perfection, which isn’t surprising given the impressive culinary credentials of the owners, one of whom previously worked at one of my favorite SF restaurants. The brussel sprouts are amazing(we cleaned the plate), and the chocolate crème pie was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had(this is coming from someone who would almost never order a chocolate dessert or a crème pie). In fact, we ordered another piece to take home! Do not miss this place on your next visit to the Taos area — it’s wonderful, and I will definitely be back!
