Very inviting enviroment. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was amazing. We had 4 adults and a 3yo and the staff took great care of us. Try their beers. We enjoyed a pitcher of their apricot wheat… very good.

We had a great dining experience. I was leery when we entered, as the place was PACKED. But we were served promptly by a young man, who took very good care of us throughout the meal. 4 mountain bikers, hungry after riding the Arnold Rim Trail, and we ordered 3 beers and a lemonade. My Brown was very good, as I knew it would be, as I’ve had it in bottles from the stores. One of our party had the brilliant idea to order a couple plates of the Super Nachos, thinking it would be quick and easy, and it was. They arrived in minutes and were excellent. So, we were happy, and I would definitely go there again. Maybe the owner is listening to some of these reviews, but we had a great experience.

Avoid the pizza at all cost. Mexican Ranch salad dressing oddly addictive. Service was poor but friendly, they realized it and comped us a beer. Come for a beer, the porter was good. Please please please don’t order pizza.

We only come up here a couple times a year for offroading and finally decided to stop in. My son and I ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and Crab & Shrimp Melt and each had half. Both were very good. There sweet potato fries were criss-cut which I liked. The one thing that stands out for me was the Snoweizen Wheat Ale was probably the best hefeweizen I’ve ever had. I’ll be back in 6 months or a year to try their other beers.

Pizza. Don’t bother. Stick with the burger or pulled pork. Porter. Don’t bother. Stick with the Snoweizen. Lovely Dana as your server. Yes, she is lovely indeed. Watching her walk by is like watching quaking aspen in the fall breeze. :-)

Went back to this place for the last time. I ordered a $ 23.00 New York steak. This was the worst meal I have ever tried to eat!!! The owner is s jackass and caters to the locals! I should of ask him to eat s bite of my steak and see if he would pay 23 bucks for it. I orders prime rib, but they were out at 7 pm. This place sucks for food and is over price big time!!! They use very low quality meat! Bad, bad, bad!!!

Don’t order the quesadilla! Pretty sure all the ingredients came from dollar general. Just looking at the cheese made me want to hurl. Cheap sharp edged stamped silverware is hard on the hands. For the money we spent on that one meal, they could get nice silverware. Taco Bell is WAYBETTER, and half the price. As crappy as the food is, the place seemed to have a lot of business with cheerful enough staff. Great looking place too. Just fix the food quality. Kinda pricey for what you get. I’m usually not to picky and would normally clear my plate even if it’s ‘so-so’. They asked if we wanted a doggie bag. I’m thinking, ‘God no!’ But just said, ‘No Thanks’. I’m hoping they will overcome the anger this review may cause and just overhaul their food quality. This place has atmosphere and good beer. Hoping for the best. But I can’t imagine going back unless l hear great things.

Ate here last Saturday while out on a ride with the wife. This is the second time we have come to this establishment. The first time was one year ago. The food is mediocre as is the beer. Not bad, just not great… All of which could be overlooked with great service. However, the service is slow, and not attentive. We gave it another try, again, good and drink were alright, but again, the service was horrible. Slow, not attentive to the customers needs. It appeared as though it is more of a local watering hole. Catering more to the locals at the bar, than the people passing through, who would possibly recommend this place in the future. That will not be the case here.

Showshoe Brewery is a staple of Arnold! Everywhere that I stopped I was told to go to Snowshoe! Ok… On a Friday, after a long snowday with my family, we decided to stop in. It was convenient, we stayed at the lodge across the street. Around 1600/4PM, people were rolling in! Wow this placed filled up! I ordered a beer sampler. The sampler came on a plywood tray in shape of a snowshoe with 7 small glasses of beer! I love fresh brew, I really do! Brewery’s have their own signature taste, this could be good and it can be a bad thing, but I did get any after taste which is a good thing! After my Wife & I had some samples, we both order a full pint. I had a Winter Ale, the Wife a Snoweizen. We both agree these 2 were the better of the 7. When both beers arrive to the table, they both had a good frothy head which is a great sign! 1– is that the beer is well made and 2– that the glass is properly clean! A brewery must have good snacks and appetizers! Am I wrong? You sit around drink beer and in time will get the munchies. Right? You can only eat so much chip, pretzels and other junk. The fries tasted like frozen Ore-Ida fries from the grocery store. How difficult is it to make your own fries?! The sausage would be perfect if I were loaded. The beer mustard was awful! The chicken wings was ok, but that wasabi sauce went well with the shrimp skewers! –Take a minute to check out my pics that I’ve posted– Sad to say, that I’ll probably be back. Maybe I’ll remember to order something else. The service– the lady, sorry I forgot her name, was married to the brewmaster, who was very helpful! Thank you for your patience! The ambiance– Relaxing, simple, it didn’t have too much décor. They do have older arcade games to keep the teens and adolescents occupied!

My three stars are only for the staff and beer. The snowshoe beers are really delicious but the food needs serious help. This could be such a great place! We are visiting from the Bay Area and decided to get a pizza to share. The crust was not cooked through and was«gummy». We sent it back in exchange for carnitas. Carnitas are supposed to be shredded and fried pork. These were shredded but flavorless. Thankfully, the salsa and other condiments helped. I don’t enjoy giving bad reviews but this food is not good at all. My advice — come in for a beer or a Growler but spend your hard earned money on food elsewhere.

Dinner for eight on a Saturday night. It was a hit and miss experience. The beers, ordered at the bar while we were waiting, were good. All the waiters were cheerful, pleasant, and very busy. The steaks were under-cooked, but otherwise okay. The burgers arrived warm and, some complained, cold; two were left with but a single bite taken of them. I was not the host, and the host did not complain. My recommendation? Patronize the Snowshoe Brewing Company with low to average expectations. Don’t order burgers, order steak. If you want medium, order medium well. Don’t go with a party of more than four on a Saturday night as they don’t handle crowds well. Or, avoid the Snowshoe Brewing Company entirely, shop at the IGA/Big Trees Market, cook for yourself on the barbecue, or in the kitchen, where you are staying in Arnold, CA95223.

Stop here every year on trip to Bear Valley. It’s a locally owned and country brewery so don’t expect something else. The food is good for what it is, and I always enjoy the beer. The staff is always friendly and I’ve always enjoyed grabbing a meal here. It can be busy at night on the weekends so anticipate there may be a wait.

What a disappointing experience. After waiting over 5 minutes for some to acknowledge we were waiting at their host station we were greeted by someone that really has no clue about customer service. We then went to wait over 10 minutes for anyone to come to our table to get things going. Very poor service. Food was below average. Not sure where any of the high star ratings come from. Must be friends or individuals that have not experienced good customer service. Had to chase down server, who was busy chatting with her friend, just to pay our bill. Another 10 minutes wasted. Bottom line: owner needs to come in and do some serious training on customer customer service. It’s too bad, because this place has the right potential with the right people.

Solid family restaurant/brewpub in Arnold. Five stars for the beer and the take-and-bake pizza, three stars for the restaurant. Restaurant is decent, there are hits and misses on the menu, burgers and sandwiches are a safe bet here. Service is very slow, especially on a busy weekend. Good for the family. There is a video game here that will keep the kids busy for 30 minutes on only 2 quarters. Quite a find! Bar is nice and beer is good. One of my favorite things about Snowshoe is the take-and-bake pizza. Seriously! It is really good. Put Snowshoe on your speed dial and place your order when you are up at Bear. Then grab it on the way home and pop it in the oven for 12 minutes! You will not be disappointed.

This restaurant has the worst, rudest service I have encountered in the last 3 years. If you enjoy the philosophy of the customer is always wrong, then you might like it? The food is mediocre at best. If you can possibly go to Murphys for your meal, do so. I promise that you’ll be avoiding a terrible experience. Just as a bonus: Filthy men’s room. The ONLY reason they stay in business is that there’s so few restaurants around. I really want to say that if you care about service, don’t want to reward people just milking tourists for money, or have any respect for the places that do care, skip this place! Send me a message for more gruesome details. I don’t want to get sued in Calaveras County! Just absolutely Terrible!

Had a great time hiking at Calaveras Big Trees and was looking forward to having some burgers and brews at Snowshoe’s. The beer hit the spot after hiking for a couple of hours, but seriously a Coors light might have too. The food was substandard, buns were fresh and under cooked, the fries sucked. The fried jalapeño peppers were not bad. On the whole seemed like all the appetizers were bought from the frozen food section of the store. They need to step up their game, to attract folks other than the locals who kept showing up in groups filling up their«growlers» Bottom line, way over priced local establishment with ok craft beer and so so food.

The steak was great. The shrimp you pay an extra $ 5 for not so much. The handcrafted beers were awesome. I had the apricot wheat ale and it was crisp and refreshing. The service was a big plus. Our waitress did a great job guiding us through our ordering decisions. The special was prime rib but they were out. Next time I come back, and yes I will come back, I will get here earlier as it looked amazing.

We stopped here on our way home from our weekend camping trip at Big Trees. If there is a brewery near where we are we have to stop at it, its a tradition for us. Cute little place. Customer service was ok, they were very friendly but kept making comments about how they didn’t want to work. As a former server of 5+ years and bartender, you shouldn’t be making those comments to your customers. The food was pretty good, they had a good selection. Something for everyone. Now on the reason we’re all here, THEBEER! Snoweizen– Good, refreshing, not sweet, slight citrus flavor Apricot– Good, reminds me of Pyramid’s but not as sweet though which isnt a bad thing Thompson Ale– Decent pale ale, good but nothing that knocks my socks off Lodgepole IPA– Decent IPA, a little too bitter for my taste Grizzly Brown– Yummy! Nice roasted flavor. 20th Anniversary Double IPA– Good, it had good balance, not overly bitter, a better choice over the regular IPA Black Bart Porter– Good aroma and after taste but not a lot of flavor and is very light.

This place is such a great experience: good mix of hometown feel(families, older folks) with brewery(great beers on tap, games on, bar tables available). The service is really impressive for how busy it gets on weekends, and the food is not bad for a brewery. I would definitely come here especially as it’s one of the only places in Arnold to get a really fresh beer on tap. Only complaint would be filling a growler: we bought an apricot wheat growler, drove 3 hours home, and it was completely flat when we opened it at home that evening! Don’t make the same mistake– just enjoy the beer there or buy a 6-pack from their fridge.
