Spirit Halloween

I’ve visited this location twice in the past two weeks, one, to pick up some items for my Halloween costume, and two, to see what masquerade masks were available. I had better luck with the former. I dressed up as a flapper for a costume party and needed a cigarette holder. Got it here for $ 1.99 plus tax. Beauty. The «flapper/​gangster» section was stocked a little better than the Fort Worth location with more colors and sizes for some of the costumes.
As for the masks, we visited today to see what they had. The selection in Fort Worth is way better. Of the 15 or so masks that were hanging on the wall, about half actually had price tags on them, and then several either had missing feathers or a broken string so you couldn’t put the mask on. The prices were outrageous too. $ 16.99 for a mask? Nope. There wasn’t even a designated mask section. There was a whole bunch of other stuff on the same display. Now, I suppose this is because everybody and their momma was there today to pick up their halloween costume, so maybe I should cut Spirit some slack. But I just was not impressed. The lines today were long. When I visited two weeks ago, the lines didn’t extend out to the back of the store, but there definitely was a line. There are usually three employees checking people out, but the line still takes some time. Additionally, the layout of the store isn’t very easy to navigate. The checkout line is sandwiched between displays, and when you go in, you’re not quite sure where to look to find anything. Staff tend to not be very helpful either. Both visits I’ve asked questions about item availability or item location in the store, and the employees had difficulty answering. One just guessed but the other went to get help so that was good, but overall disappointing.
Overall I like the concept. Spirit is supposed to be your one-​stop shop for Halloween costume shopping. It can be, although it can get pricey (my costume was $ 34.99 but that was without accessories and so on). Be sure to download a 20% off coupon at Spirit’s website to save some money on an item in the store! There is quite a bit of variety here as well, so taking time to browse is helpful.
