The owner is a bit of a soup nazi but the Philly is really tasty. Don’t add peppers to your order after the fact as this is conducive to mayhem. Worth it for a great sub(and he is actually quite friendly).

Actually wanted to check out Donnie’s Philly Cheesesteak, but they were closed today, so here I am. Walked in and there was nobody behind the counter, so I decided to check out the menu first to give senpai some time to notice me. I guess they were in luck because the owner just got back from picking up some things(I’m assuming from the boxes he carried) placed them down, and then took our order. He was very friendly, made knowledgeable small talk about WWI, and cracked a few jokes here and there. I decided to get a combo for the cheesesteak sub with onion rings and a drink. All for about $~10. Stuck with a 5″ long sandwich because there was only one other customer there during lunch time along with a 3 star overall Unilocal rating, so I was skeptical about this place’s food quality. The other sizes include 7″ or 10″ sub. They have a TV but it was turned off. The wait time wasn’t too long though so we didn’t really need it. When my sub came out, I tried the onion rings first. These are amazing! Eat them while they’re still hot. They taste like the onion rings at Airways, only thinner. The onions are very sweet and the outside is golden crispy and crunchy. Then I moved on to try my sub. Just at a glance, the meat didn’t have a good color to it. It was pretty pale. I imagine a good philly cheesesteak to have a deeper brown color to it and a ton of American cheese mixed with other ingredients. Told myself whatever. Only one way to find out. I took a bite. Annnddd… It was okay. Nothing special, really. I didn’t get blown away. Although one side of my sandwich was soggy and that was quite unpleasant. This is the first time I’ve ever had a soggy sandwich in my life. Now I know why people complain about it so much; it’s not that appealing to the taste buds. I’m glad I only got a 5″. It’s funny because I can single handedly finish off a foot long at Subway when I’m this amount of hungry too, lol. I had a few bites left, so I put hot sauce on it since I was starting to get tired of the sogginess and that made it taste better. My brother ordered a combo for the Italian sub with chips and a water. For the chips, you just grab any small bag of it. We weren’t sure earlier, so we figured it’d be safer to wait and see if the chips came with the sandwich, but nope. Just grab a bag and it’ll be okay. I feel like if I ordered what my brother got, I definitely wouldn’t have liked it because all I saw on the Italian sub were veggies. It was mostly stuffed with a crap ton of lettuce, some slices of tomatoes, and a few slices of ham. And probably some sort of sauce in it. That’s it. I wouldn’t have enjoyed that at all. I already know that. And it seemed as if the waitresses didn’t understand English; I know for sure that they’re Hispanic. They also didn’t look happy to be working. I mean, I know a restaurant server isn’t exactly the most exciting job, but they just… Didn’t have good vibes going on. Oh well. I’m in between a 2 – 3 star, so I’ll just go with the current Unilocal rating for this philly place and rank with the 3. It’s likely that I won’t be returning :(I can understand why there is a lack of customers at this place. I hope they get better and prosper somehow in the future, but… For now, if I’m in the area, I’ll be going to Buffalo Wild Wings or New Yorker Pizza and Pasta instead.

Very average for a place that specializes in Philly Cheesesteaks. I’ve had better in other restaurants that don’t specialize in one thing!

Ive only been here once so far, but the food was hot. My sandwich was good and the owner was very nice. The price was pretty good too. I will definitely go back the next time I want a cheese steak. I haven’t had the wings but I kinda want to try them but Buffalo Wild Wings is next door and wing-stop is across from the shopping center.

Clean, free wifi, good service, and the PHILLYS are awesome. I would skip the fries though!

Ordered a sandwich with no onions. Got a sandwich loaded with onions. Let him know and all I got was«you didn’t order it without onions, I’m sorry.» I understood how he might not have understood since we placed 3 orders but I expected another sandwich. Oh well, I will stop eating here before every Ranger’s game. Many other places to choose from. Moving on!

My family and I came from Southern California to see a Cowboy’s game and are not familiar with anything in the area. We found this place by accident right next to the ATT Stadium. It wasn’t too busy so we were greeted fast. The owner of the business took our order and made some recommendations. We had two Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches, some hot wings, onion rings, and fries. All of it was very yummy and the service was great!

Saw this place off the highway and thought I would try it. Best decision for the day! service was great and food was even better. In addition to the steak sandwich, try the chicken wings as well. Best chicken wings ever. I would definitely recommend this place and come back here next time.

The food is great, and service is friendly. I am from Chicago and will miss their cheese steak when I go back. I got the 10 inch with extra cheese and onion rings last time and I loved it. Today I thought I would sample the boneless wings hot flavor, priced well and tasted great. My mom and I will be frequents as long as we are in Texas

One of the best steak places ever! The food was absolutely delicious! The service was amazing. The owner made me feel welcome as if I have been coming here for years and years. I ordered steak and cheese sandwich and my husband ordered chicken wings. Both were served just the way we like it. I would definitely recommend this place!

The chicken was precooked like the pre cooked fajita meat from the grocery store. The cook just heated it on the grill. The chicken Philly sandwich was poorly put together. I think she was upset because I asked for mayo. I wouldn’t let my dog eat at this place.

Ground beef cheesesteak? Taste wasn’t bad, bread was decent, but crumbly finely ground beef? Sandwiches are also small. The wings were decent but not enough for me to come back. The pictures on the website show sliced beef, btw. I don’t know when they switched. I assume they’re trying to save a dime but they’ll lose my dollars for it.

It’s an okay sandwich, nothing really spectacular. I can only comment about the chicken and I’ve had better chicken philly’s elsewhere. The chicken isn’t like the traditional chicken steak, more like chicken strips. The staff isn’t really friendly but they were pretty fast with my order.

When I walked in and saw the Hunt’s Ketchup and Texas Pete Hot Sauce I knew I had gone to the wrong place. I went because my friend spoke highly of it? The 10″ pizza sandwhich was ok. The bread was soft. The owner explained that he uses Hunt’s ketchup because it maintains its taste as it sits in the bottle. I never had a problem with Heinz taste breaking down. The good news is the food was made to order and I did not get a stomach ache. This restaurant is for a certain clientele, like the lady who walked up asking to(2) styrofoam cups? But it’s not for me!

i want to like this place, but i cant get past my first impression…-___– as i walked in and made my order, i think the owner? had like the grossest sneeze and spit out a loogie, and god… i handed him my card then it realized it was his sneezing hand…-__– i had the lunch special. with fries. it was okay. it was kinda flavor lacking and it was SUPER hot. like… lava hot lol. i think the special should change or be and of the main subs. so i mean whatever. but it was good it wasnt terrible i might go again. but then again idk. the fries are good. and the price is fair, if you do the lunch special… the portions were fullfilling. so thats fine.

The first couple bites tasted good, but after that it left a funk in my mouth. I should have read the reviews beforehand. Plus it was on the expensive side. I don’t mind paying more $ if it is going to be good… but it was not. We had to cancel plans later that night because we both felt so horrible after eating it.

I gave it one star only because I can’t give it any less. please consider offering demerits in the future! I honestly have to say I have only been treated this badly once before, at the Subway in the San Juan, Puerto Rico airport. I walked in and said I would be using a Groupon for lunch. the girl behind the counter called for the manager. He comes out with a scowl on his face,” what you whan?” I asked for the 10in Mushroom. he punches it in. looks up. «and a large soft drink please» he punches it in and walks away. no receipt, nothing. One of the two girls working there makes the sandwich, plops it into a basket and hands it over the counter /as if to say«here, take it» /she hands me a Styrofoam cup. and turns around. BTW I’m the only person in the place. the manager comes back out about 5 minutes later, looks at me and says«you whan something?» when I say no he turns around and goes into the back. in the mean time a teenage Hispanic girl walks in, grabs some napkins and condiments and walks back out. Mr. manager said nothing. I hate to say it, but It may be because I am not Hispanic that I was treated so badly. the two girls in the place were also Hispanic, as was the manager. As for the food. it was the skimpiest portion of «filling» on a 10 inch roll I have even seen. Cheese? I’m lucky I could see any of it. overall It was an awful experience. I wont be going back, and I will be contacting Groupon and Philly’s home office.

Owner would not honor our Groupon, only after he charged us for more than what the minimum purchase clearly stated was acceptable. A total bait-and-switch, I thought. The food — which was the only meal I had that day — had me running to the toilet every half hour for the rest of the week. A miserable experience from beginning to end. Groupon apologized and refunded us. So props to them.

I don’t see the Philly Connection around here as much as you might in an east cost city. Which perhaps explains why people don’t realize it’s a fast food chain. But that is exactly what it is. A subway type shop for the cheese steak fan. As with most franchised sandwich joints, quality control varies from location to location. Some like to skimp on toppings or meat. With this particularly Philly Connection, the service is pretty good. I’m not sure how the place stays in business because I’ve never had to wait in any sort of line, but maybe they have a big lunch crowd. Or maybe they just like to give out meaty-cheesy meals out of the goodness of their heart. In any case, it’s fast. It’s reasonable in terms or price. It’s always good. There is 30% chance you end up with a stomach ache later, but I think that’s a pretty standard risk for all meals consisting of fried meat covered in cheese.

I saw the sign, tapped my brakes, turned right and parked in front of this beacon of high cholesterol. I got a small mushroom and crossed my fingers hoping I would not be disappointed. I mean. Philly food in Texas. it could be really wrong. Classic Philly’s Sub Shop sure let me down and this is the only other cheesteak place I’ve ever encountered. Actually Philly Connection makes a pretty decent cheesesteak. Generous with the meat. Warm, squishy goodness. Total comfort food. Not the best cheesesteak I’ve ever had but not bad either. The reason I only give four stars is because they don’t offer cheez whiz as an option and that’s just wrong. however I usually get provolone anyways so its not that big of a deal. Another star deleted for the staff watching you like a hawk so you do not refill your drink cup. Since when is it not ok to refill your soda before you leave? C’mon. Whataburger lets you. Chick Fil A will even refill it free behind the counter. Cheapskates.
