I got my brows waxed here last weekend, and the woman who did my brows did a GREAT job! Finding a salon that does a good job with waxes is tough, but I LOVE how my brows look! I haven’t gotten manis or pedis here so I can’t comment on that. I wish La-Or was closer to me as I live in DC!

Do not go here unless you want darkkkk(black) skinny crooked uneven eyebrows. I hate when people try to tell you what you want. I went here and got all the way jacked up, I hated my brows she does not do a good job. For someone to rave about their experience so much baffles me when she was nothing more than mediocre at best. I had ink dots stains whatever their called, eyebrows looked like a drunk person drew them on and they were sooooo dark! Like who the heck wants jet black eyebrows!!! When I complained to her she gave me the«come back in 4 – 6 weeks» umm no I want you to fix now. I’m the customer and should be happy with my initial results. I was sooooo pissed but I ended up going to Shirley @ permanent makeup clinic who did a ok job, but still didn’t get them to the color size I wanted. Ugh

Do not go here. I paid $ 32 dollars plus tip for a terrible pedicure. I was cut several times. Ouch! When I went home and examined my toes, I noticed that my nails were unevenly shaped and painted. When I went back to get a partial refund, the owner/manager said they would re-do them, but after sitting there for an hour getting them done in the first place and getting cut, I wanted them nowhere near my toes ever again. I had to fight for a partial refund. I guess they never heard that the customer is always right. DONOTGOHERE.

Parking in the 1750 store shops was expensive($ 21 for over 2 hours)… but… I guess the location is convenient if you want to get a mani/pedi and do some shopping… Got a pedicure and shellac polish done… and prices are reasonable, place was clean and the ladies in there did a great job! I’m happy with my mani/pedi! Will update this review after I try out the permanent make up and waxing services they offer :)

Stephanie did my pedi, and while I wasn’t paying attention to the instruments, she was both nice and meticulous. No complaints. I had a friend with me who splurged on the reflexology massage and was in a lot better mood after the massage than before it. Next time I go, I’ll keep a better watch on the sanitation, but I haven’t suffered any post-pedi infections or anything…

I would have come in with 3 or 4 stars with my pedicure but given how unsanitary the pedicure was, it needs to be dropped way the fuck down. Price of pedicure $ 30. Same price as Ivy Nails where they actually sanitize their tools. Sadly, I was running late yesterday, was desperate, and chose La-Or for a pedicure as I had not time to go anywhere else. My nail tech was friendly and took her time to really shape my nails to perfection. Unfortunately, what I noticed after my pedicure was over will haunt me for the next 4 weeks as I pray I don’t get an infection. When she was done with the tools on my feet, she handed the jar of tools over to the tech next to me. That tech then dumped alcohol on it and began using the tools on someone else! A 2 second rinse of alcohol is not up to health code standards. She even did this with the foot blade! THEFUCK! So $ 30 for a dirty ass pedicure? No way. I won’t come back. I had been previously for an eyebrow wax which was pretty decent but I shutter to think how filthy they keep their wax if they don’t even sanitize their equipment tools properly. I am notifying the health department. Run tell that.

DONOTGOHEREFORPERMANENTEYEBROWS!!! Especially if you are thinking of getting the hairstroke technique. My friend found La-Or on the internet and she said she did a lot of research. I trusted my friend so I did not do my own research. Mistake. We were lured in by her cheap prices. My friend had her eyeliner done, which was nice, but had an ink stain at side of her eye, which La-Or later tried to camoflauge with yellowish/“skin” colored ink. As for me, her work was a total mess. The hairstroke eyebrows ended up looking like chicken scratch or barb wire. I complained and she said to come back and she would fix/touch up. This time, she tried to fill in the eyebrows and used different inks. Terrible. How can someone who boasts 18 years of experience do such poor work??? I was so distraught that I had to wear my hair down all the time to try to hide my eyebrows. I told her that I no longer had confidence in her and requested a refund and she gave it to me. I saw another Unilocaler with the same problem and she referred me to a Permanent Makeup Artist(Shirley at Permanent Makeup Clinic in McLean, VA) who did an excellent job in fixing my permanent eyebrow. The difference is like night and day in regards to work and artistry and also in the shop. La-Or’s place is in the back room/wax room of the nail salon with old equipment. Permanent Makeup Clinic is in a nice, bright, sterile environment(kinda reminds me of dentist office) *** IFYOUWANTTOSEEHORRORPICSOFTHEWORKLA-ORDID, PLEASECONTACTME. I WILLBEHAPPYTOEMAILYOUPICS. This place is AWFUL. I am not very hard to please, and this place fell far short of even my very modest expectations. I had a bikini wax here once maybe 6 months ago, and it was meh but not awful. Then I came back for a manicure yesterday. WOW — unbelievably bad! Maria, who«did» my nails, was plenty friendly but really lacked the requisite skills for giving a proper manicure. It seemed like she was trying, but she seemed to actually lack the motor skills to accomplish the task. She got polish all over my cuticles, filed nails unevenly(while filing my finger itself as well), and left the polish lumpy. Then I was put in a crappy little drying station where the fan was broken on the right side. When I told them that the dryer was broken, they said that despite having a visible fan built in, it was somehow supposed to only have a fan on one hand. Ummmm… right. How dumb do they think their clients are?! The manicure was so bad, I had to go home and take off all the polish. I had a friend with me who also got an unbelievably poorly-done manicure from a different person at the same time(we went together) and the ONLY good thing about the experience was laughing about how they were the worst manicures ever — EVER. My friend, who is in a medical profession, told me she even worried a little about contracting a staff infection because of the shoddily-sterilized cuticle cutter. Eeew. I warn you — if you come here for a manicure, be prepared to go home and take off the polish and re-manicure yourself. You will be embarrassed at your hideous hands after $ 15 and 45 minutes spent at La-Or.

The manicure was cheap, but not even worth the price. I left with nails of different sizes, loose pieces of nail, and a few jagged edges. The 15 minute massage was done by a person who generally knew what they were doing, but the chair was broken and terribly uncomfortable, meaning it was not the relaxing experience it should have been.

I agree with other reviews on the waxing– don’t get it done here. It’s awful. However, the mani/pedis are cheap for the DC area. I think it’s $ 45. I go here at least 1x a month.

I was a regular customer here through most of 2006. I went for regular eyebrow waxes and once in a while for mani/pedi. They’re quick and they’re good at it. La-Or — the thai woman who owns this nail salon — does permanent makeup and spa treatments. She has several skilled manicurists on staff and there are 4 manicure stations lined up on the right side of the wall and 2 pedicure spas to the left. They have a backroom and a room upstairs for spa treatments and waxing. I really only stopped going there because I’m not very good at making appointments for waxing so every time I showed up, I had a different person wax my brows. I like to have the same person do them because they know what I want each time. The prices here are great — I think La-Or mentioned to me once that her prices haven’t increased since the 1980s. I would avoid here at lunch time because it gets packed with lunch crowds due to the location in the Underground. I think brow wax is $ 10 and mani/pedi is very reasonable — I will have to look at their pricing and update this post. I took advantage of their $ 75 special once and this is a must if you want to be pampered for almost 3 hours. For $ 75 you receive a European facial, Spa pedi, mani and eyebrow wax. I can’t think of a better deal in the DC area. I left there feeling 100% revived, refreshed, rejuvenated.
