Out of the Box Bakery

I had one of their muffins (the carrot walnut) and it was incredibly good, regardless of what diet or meal plan you are on (or not on). You can purchase some of their products at Misha’s in Alexandria. Out of the Box does not have a store front.

Borderline creepily obsessed w/​this business! When I’m on a total clean eating streak, their muffins and macaroons are SUCH a treat. I used to stalk their weekly deliveries at VIDA to make sure I could get what I wanted – they always sold out so fast. Before my wedding, I ordered a whole bunch of treats from them to keep in our suite for bridal party snacks. Everyone went crazy over the muffins and cookies. The owner is so lovely and accomodating. If you’re paleo or a clean eater that wants a little weekend treat, I definitely recommend. It is so fresh, it helps to put in the fridge if you don’t plan on eating immediately. I wish they were more widely available, but the nature of the product makes that difficult.

I totally love the baked goods at OOTBB. If you’re gluten free, grain free, whole-​30, and/​or paleo, you need to make friends with these guys. It’s not just ‘good for grain-​free’, it’s GREAT for any bakery. The salted chocolate chip cookies are my absolute fave, but I’ve yet to find something on the menu that I don’t love. The owner is always super helpful and you can tell they really care about the work they’re doing and their customers.

I just finished the Whole 30 and follow a Paleo Diet pretty strictly. No refined sugar, no grains, no legumes, no dairy. HOWEVER, I have a huge love of sweets.
I found Out of the Box Bakery when I started looking for bakeries that made sweets for Paleo lifestyles.
I asked my husband to get me a dozen for Valentine’s Day. As someone who has not had sugar in what feels like 100 years, you can imagine how sad I was when 10 inches of snow came the day I was supposed to pick up the cupcakes.
These guys went to work in the snow. and made my cupcakes. and they are AWESOME. In particular, the german chocolate cupcake is out. Of. this. World.
If you are Paleo, or a clean eater, and need a cake or cookies or brownies, don’t blow your budget and your time trying to bake this for yourself. Instead place an order with Out of the Box and pick them up. SO WORTH IT!
