3 ½ stars. Definite hipster vibe. A good variety of beers and good quick bites. Place is tiny so seating is limited. Not a bad place to sit down and have a drink with friends.

Hipster oasis or hipster mirage? I’m not totally certain. Considering the hipster population has declined in the DC area, I think I’d describe this as a dive bar with a strong concentration of hipsterdom for Arlington. The place is dimly lit with string lights and covered in funky artwork and retro video game machines. Good selection of beers on tap. Good happy hour from 5 – 7 if you want a cheap pitcher. *Great* bar food, especially the vegan selections. A vegan friend and I recently had the tater tots with vegan chili and a vegan chicken bacon cheese sandwich, both of which were delicious; the sandwich in particular had great texture and flavor, and I’d order it again, even though I don’t keep a vegan diet. I’m less thrilled that the music is generally a bit too loud and I always somehow sit at the table where the video game machine is broken, which is nice for ambience but would be more fun if it worked. Also the main room is sort of cramped and you might need sharp eyes to find an open spot during busy times. Oh, and remember to order drinks and food at the bar under the big sign. Then sit back and enjoy.

Favorite bar for grabbing dinner and a drink with friends, or for brining out of town guests. GREAT vegan options. The vegans I’ve brought have been impressed. Menu changes from time to time. Service is normal: Bartenders prefer you open a tab, and treat you better if you tip better. I like asking for quarters to play the pinball machine. I’m small, so I especially like that I have the option of a mini, goblet, or pint for any beer on tap. Favorites: grilled cheese(vegan or not, both good), eggplant fries, pulled pork sandwich, meatloaf sandwich, chili(vegan or not, both good), ciders, stouts Not great: totchos, hummus, turcado

Cool casual little beer bar out in Arlington. They had a decent selection of beers which I enjoyed very much. Their outside seating area is definitely worth taking a peek at. It really gives you an out of this world experience.

I have been here a few times for drinks and food, and that’s pretty decent. What is hard to handle is the attitude of staff.

I liked the steak and cheese(vegan) and the vegan reuben thing. Good beer. Neat vibe for downtown arlington which is a soulless corporate purgatory.

If you’re into hipstery dive bars that feel like they were swiped right out of an episode of Portlandia, this place is for you. Enjoy an IPA along with a super cheesy grilled«turkacado» sandwich with fresh turkey and avocado as Blade Runner plays on an old VCR in the corner, showcasing all the best of 80s action. The place is small, verging on claustrophobic as the dinner crowd increases, but surely an intimate place for friends. I ate at the bar here a couple nights ago, and I appreciate this place’s small town, indie vibe. It’s just a few guys, working hard to deliver some fresh grub. I had the turkacado with tots and split a plate of nachos with chili and avocado. The food was fresh and good, but these are often considered«ultimate grilled cheeses» on Unilocal and blogs, and I’d say that’s a little off – mostly just kinda cheesy, grilled sandwiches. While the food was good, the menu ideas weren’t exactly groundbreaking, and the prices were a little high for the fare. The beer we tried wasn’t all that good, but you win some, you lose some. All in all, I appreciate what this place offers and the overall atmosphere.

Awesome bar! Awesome service! Awesome beer and totchos! Make sure to get there early if you don’t want to stand. We were lucky and got a small table by the door. Great beer selection and fun atmosphere. We got the totchos with just cheese and added jalapeños. Definitely will be visiting here next time I’m in town.

After reaching out to the management, our issue was resolved. We look forward to returning soon. Not just my favorite bar in Northern Virginia, it is one of my favorite bars period.

The ambiance and grungy décor here is pretty neat(when I think of suburban Virginia, I don’t exactly think of dive bars, so finding this place was a pleasant surprise). However, the drinks disappointed. My friend got a dark ale that was on draft, and I had a Jack’s Cider(there were no other ciders on the menu). Both of our drinks tasted watered down and flavorless. I’ll give this place the benefit of the doubt and chalk this mishap up to poor drink ordering — maybe there are better options on the menu that we just missed.

Visiting D. C and we came upon this place because we wanted a chill place to drink and eat. Thank god the night turned out well because they had a great selection of beers and decent amount of food. For people who don’t drink beer, they had the alcoholic root beer which was perfect for a friend because he didn’t like beer that much. So everyone was happy! We ordered the tater tots with bacon, jalapenos, cheese and sour cream. Those hit the spot for you tater tot lovers out there! Definitely check this place out!

I really like this place! Cute little dive bar with, yes, a «hipster» feel. But who doesn’t like hip, chill places with arcade games, a private alleyway with outdoor seating, unique beers on tap, and GGBF(ok. just made that up: GREASYGOODBARFOOD)?! Cool spot to consider if you are catching up with a friend. The atmosphere is really cute and there’s lights strung up. The music was great the night I went; mix of indie rock and electronic. It’s a very laid-back place; when I looked around me, many others were with just one other person as well. It is evident that Galaxy Hut a good place to converse(and not have to scream to hear each other). Especially when the weather is nice! We sat outside for a good hour or so just talking, drinking, and munching on their bar bites. I’m bummed because we came a little before 12am, so they couldn’t make us the fattening chili cheese dog I was so desperately craving. But they did fry up some eggplant fries and tots for us. Eggplant fries could use more flavor, and tots were good with ketchup. The«regular» sizes are huge! I ordered a unique cider they had on the menu, and would love to come back to try other drinks. Galaxy Hut is truly a gem considering the rest of Clarendon is really annoying and full of frat gals/guys who still act like they’re in undergrad. ENJOY!

Been there one time, last week, with my brother. The place was a very dive-bar style establishment, but it had an insane beer selection. We got totchos, which were also mind-blowing. Definitely going back.

I was all excited to eat here since I am vegetarian and enjoy having more than just a few options. My boyfriend ordered a vegetarian turkey sandwich for me and something for himself at the bar. When the food arrived, I took a bite of my sandwich and thought… «Wow, this actually tastes like turkey.» And after giving it to my boyfriend to double check, we figured out that it actually WAS turkey. I was pissed. He took it back up to the bar and told them that they put real turkey on my supposedly vegetarian sandwich, and they began making another sandwich for me that I could actually eat. Of course, since you pay first at the bar, they didn’t offer a refund, discount, or any other means of monetary compensation. Service took forEVER. Have not been back since this incident.

I really liked the vibe of this place. It reminded me of a few spots I’d been to in Atlanta for some reason, reasonably priced food & drinks. I really loved the décor & local art displayed on the walls. It’s a tight little spot & seemed to fill up after 6pm during the week night pretty quickly, so I can only image on the weekends how fast it would fill up. Any place that has tatter tots is alright by me!!!

This place is great. My type of scene where you can sit and talk have a nice drink with your group. They have a cute outdoor nook on the side which is great to sit at when it’s nice outside. You can order tator tots, Eggplant fries(absolutely delicious)/along with their sizable array of beers. I’m a dark beer person and they had a great section devoted to my type of beer. You can get drinks in regular size, goblet, and mini, which is fantastic if you want to try a wide variety without breaking your wallet or your seal. The bartender was great but he took a bit long to interact with people even though more people(especially me) were waiting for drinks.

One of the few hipster dives around the Orange Line vicinity that is casual, fun, and boasts an incredibly diverse beer list for the area. From the outside, it would almost appear to be a video game arcade straight out of the movie TRON(my love for all things 80s knows no bounds). But once you step inside, it’s like a quirky, hippie, artsy dive bar with an extensive bar straight back. Ordering is easy, but it’s a «unique» way to do it: 1) Grab a laminated menu off of the wall or near the bar 2) Wait in line until you reach the front/bar area 3) Order awesome beer 4) Receive said beer 5) REJOICE! You have beer! The beer prices aren’t too shabby either for the extremely good quality drafts. I’ve seen many Midwestern/Michigan beers on tap here that are hard to find elsewhere in the DMV(Dark Horse Too Cream Stout was here on tap a couple months ago). I find that it’s a nice range of local(DMV) area breweries and more far flung beer choices from GA, Illinois, Oregon, Cali, Vermont, Maine, etc. The greasy food is great too(god, those tater tots are devilishly good) and should please the most picky of eaters. One recommendation to my fellow beer lovers: Come here early or before you hit up other restaurants/bars. It tends to get claustrophobic and crowded here after 8 pm.

I have a soft spot for this place, my favorite neighborhood bar. Excellent beers on tap with an easy-going atmosphere. I love their nod to the local scene with all the DC art and playful comics on the wall. The bar is a bit on the quiet side on regular nights — you won’t go in expecting to jabber on with your neighbor, but you will always leave content and happy. Perhaps it’s the twinkling string lights, the cozy booths or the pacman arcade game waiting to be beat. Or all of the above. The bartenders are great and really know their beers. They also serve tater tots, fried eggplant, grilled cheese sandwiches and a bunch of vegan/veg options. It would be awesome if they had better HH deals though(docking a millimeter on the last star for that). then it wouldnt hurt the wallet as much! On some Sundays they have small, local bands play — it gets a bit cramped + loud, but I love it. You’ll feel like family here. And every 1st Sunday of the month is karaōke night!(I have yet to go).

Where has Galaxy Hut been all my life? Oh… hiding in a yuppie neighborhood that I rarely go out in. This dive bar is a great place to chill and grab some beer and food. The staff was actually friendly, which was surprising, as no one really looked that friendly. It’s small and can get crowded, so get there early. Prices are extremely reasonable. The beer list is fantastic and they offer happy hour daily. I ordered a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato and it was delicious. Perfectly grilled and melted and it rivals Stoney’s. The tater tots were good, as well. My friend ordered eggplant fries and the first batch was cold and overdone. The second batch was much better, crisp and hot. Just writing this review makes me want to go back.

Galaxy hut has a very cool, dark, and relaxing atmosphere. I’d probably come here for a drink, but the food is mediocre. WHAT I GOT Vegan Seitan BBQ sandwich with vegan coleslaw $ 8 Eggplant fries +$ 2 with meal WHAT I THOUGHT Super chill and lowkey. The two bartenders/cooks that were working when I was there had long awesome dreads. The inside is almost all black, except the christmas lights along the interior of the wall. It is a popular local bar, so the place has a decent crowd every night. They have interesting events going on like live music, open mic nights, etc. Definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in those things. The barbeque sandwich was too salty and the coleslaw was bland. The bread they use is that nice fluffy white bread(with a nice coating of butter). The meal was disappointing. The eggplant fries were alright. Cool concept.
