As someone who can be a bit picky when it comes to my food, I am Always satisfied when I come here. I usually get the red beans and rice and it is ALWAYS Hot and fresh. The prices are reasonable as well. They could maybe clean things up a bit on the inside but whatever. The food is good so I’ll keep coming back. Also the gumbo is very good as well. best I’ve been able to find other than homemade.

I was in the area and used Unilocal to find a spot for lunch. The pics looked yum so I tried it out. I had the shrimp poboy and hush puppies. I wouldn’t get the pups again, they were just the standard stick kind, didn’t seem homemade. The poboy was good, lots of shrimp, soft bread and a spicy sauce. I would stop again of in the area.

This place reminds me of my hometown of New Orleans, from the po’boys to the crawfish. Never a disappointment love it

May seriously be the best crawfish in the DFW by far. The line is always long but they quicky and efficiently get everyone through it. And the fact that it is BYOB is even better

We arrived for lunch at noon on a Saturday before the large lunch crowd came in. Locals swarmed in around 12:30, getting large orders of crawfish, Po boys, and red beans and rice. I ordered the Oyster Po Boy. The bread was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. The cornmeal breaded oysters were absolutely delicious. There were enough oysters to have some in every bite. French fries are your typical crinkle fry, but I was happy that they were hot and fresh. Try the hot sauces they have in the center of the restaurant to add a little kick to the fries! The red beans and rice had a great smoky taste that I always look for. Prices are great and service was friendly. It’s nice to see a little mom and pop place doing so well. If would recommend this place and I’m sure the locals would agree!

The crawfish here are authentic Louisiana style. That’s where the owner is from so Im glad they brought all the flavors to Texas! My most favorite crawfish joint in town is definitely Bayou Cat. The crawdads are very flavorful from the inside out and is not rubbed in oil. Other must get items are the crawfish pies and shrimp poboys.

Service was very fast. We had the Catfish po boy, red beans and rice and crawfish, it was all amazing. The best we had in a while.

Their crawfish is amazing. Definitely Cajun crawfish! The crawfish is spicy and so good! Probably better than all the other crawfish joints!

CRAWFISH! I can’t even think about anything else because this crawfish was the real deal. I’m from Southeast Texas on the Louisiana border, so I take my crawfish pretty seriously. Bayou Cat’s crawfish are the closest to authentic Louisiana crawfish I’ve found in this area. And at $ 4.99/ lb, the best price in this area. I definitely want to try the other menu items. Someone at the table next to me had a catfish basket that looked amazing. My only request is that they make the crawfish a little spicier. Aside from that, I’ll be making the trek to Arlington often for the rest of crawfish season.

Stopped in on a whim. I had not read any reviews, was in the area and wanted something to eat. I got a fish basket to go. The service was really good and friendly The place was clean and felt nice. The order was filled fast. I was not able to eat right away. Work. Several hrs later when I did eat. BAM-MA-LAMA-DING-DONG!!! This catfish was still crispy on the outside and full flavor inside. Its definitely battered onsite. Hush puppys were just ok, probably packaged. Fries were good. I’ll bring the wife for shrimp or fish Po-boys. Yay! I’m a fan

Hot boiled crawfish. Po-Boys Red Beans that taste like Mondays… And Big Shot Diet Pineapple Soda This place is NOLA through-and-through. Although the crawfish could have been spicier, it had a nice, sweet balance. The shrimp on the PoBoy was crisp & flavorful. I do wish they offered Leidenheimer’s bread, but everything else is so spot on, it is completely worth the drive. They do counter service, and I have been told the owners are from Gretna. Not every joint in NOLA is identical, nor should they be. They do not taste like Mother’s or Johnny’s, and they lack a Muffuletta… but this is as good as it gets with enough wierdness to feel like I’m on the Westbank.

Well what do you want for under 6.00 lunch. 2 fillet combo comes with fries and 2 under cooked doughy tubes they call hush puppies. No cokeslaw or salad. I didn’t try the crawfish which looked interesting and seemed very popular. I would have gladly spent more for a better lunch.

Best place in Arlington, TX to get crawfish. Owners are from New Orleans and season their crawfish just right. Only thing they are missing are boiled shrimp and turkey necks!

Excellent red beans and rice. Shrimp and catfish were fabulous. Some may feel that corn meal on catfish may be a little on the heavy side. Do not like their hushpuppies, but to each their own.

The food was«ok.» Not bad, not great. The restaurant is in a strip center and it doesn’t look very well cared for. It was cold outside today and the HVAC(if it was even on) didn’t seem to be warming the inside up very much. If the place had been better cared for, I might have given it 3 stars, instead of 2. But, as is, I doubt I’ll ever go back. So, 2 stars seems fitting. The catfish and shrimp are probably breaded onsite. The fries and hush puppies were obviously purchased from a distributor of some sort.

Bayou Cat is no doubt a local favorite. The restaurant was hopping from the moment I walked in until the moment I walked out. The line moved at a decent pace. I ordered an oyster po’ boy and a side of red beans and rice. The food is counter service so they call your name/number or order to come and pick it up. Considering that it was counter service I thought it took too long for the food. This was really the only negative though. The po’ boy was delicious and took me back to my days in Louisiana and throughout the southeast. Simple bun, crispy golden fried oysters, and some lettuce and tomato. The red beans and rice were pretty good too. Lots of flavor the rice was a touch over done but overall really decent. At the end of the day I can see why this is a popular place to the locals. It’s probably some of the best Cajun food outside of Louisiana and they have the classics too(crawfish and turkey neck). I would recommend giving it a try.

Cheap, good cajun food — tastes just like what you would find in New Orleans. It does not have the best ambiance and there is no service, but you can’t really expect that with the prices they charge. I’ve never really been a fan of poboys, so can’t really say that I loved it, but it was stuffed with shrimp and comes with crinkled fries. The bread would have been better if it was crunchy. Their seafood gumbo(catfish, shrimp, crab) is delicious! Their crawfish is good, but it is very different from what you would get from a place like Joe Cajun. It is more of a dry rub, but is very well seasoned and spicy. Normally it’s about $ 5−6/lb, but there’s a special on Wednesdays 3 lbs for $ 11(price varies from week to week, but always cheap)

Bayou Cat was once known in a previous restaurant life as Top Cat. The popularity of the Top Cat days continue with Bayou Cat and their servings of seafood in this little shopping center off of Arkansas and 360. We came in on a Saturday afternoon about 3 pm to a short line. After we placed our orders, we went to sit down and watched the line grow and grow and grow some more to the point where it was almost out the door. I can’t imagine what the line looks like at peak hours or right before closing. The food itself was pretty tasty. The catfish was not the best I’ve ever had(I’m spoiled by having some really good cooks in my family) but it was alright. The fries were pretty good. What shocked me was the desserts they sell. I grabbed a peach cobbler(my absolute weakness) and it was probably as good as the peach cobbler I used to eat on Sunday afternoons after church at my great aunt’s house. That was some good peach cobbler! It’s made by Uncle Willie’s Pies but Bayou Cat sells them. Staff was really nice and worked diligently to get food out to customers in a timely fashion. My suggestion would be to come early when they first open or be prepared to wait a bit for your food. Also be aware that when it’s crawfish season there will be lots of people there to grab a few pounds since their crawfish is really reasonably priced(well by Texas standards anyway).
