First time here. Enjoyed the free miso soup(offer through Unilocal!). Ordered lemon salmon sashimi and hamachi sashimi. Both edible, but mediocre. Had the eel roll. This was quite nice, but not super memorable. I probably won’t return. But happy that other people have a nice experience here!

Love this little sushi place. Never disappointed when I visit. It’s my go to when I want to chill and have some delicious sushi with a good miso soup.

Impressed to find such delicious sushi in Arcata. I wasn’t expecting much when I got in to town and I was pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of the sushi

Excellent customer service! Robert was awesome. Food was amazing! He knew the menu well and everyone was very kind and personable! Definitely a favorite spot for Sushi in the Arcata/Eureka/Mckinleyville area! Thanks for the great experience!

This place is great. The sushi comes out fast, it’s tasty, and the price can’t be beat. The other Sushi places in town are comparable, but they just don’t have the speed and price like Sushi Tao does.

Not from the area but I was quite pleased with the food. Ordered the spicy tuna, Philadelphia and dynamite roll and it was very good.

I’ve eaten sushi in a lot of places and this is one of the best! It’s certainly the best place in Humboldt. It is a bit pricey especially around here but so worth it. We haven’t had a bad dish but we love the cherry blossom roll, eel crunch roll, and the unagi nigiri which is our favorite. The miso soup is also wonderful on cold, rainy days.

Isaac is a fuck tard, this place was horrible… Worst sushi I’ve ever had, you can find better in a gas station!

Every other sushi place I’ve ever been to can fuck right off. This place will always be a go to when I’m even 4 hours away.

Great food, perfect service, good prices, and nice little restaurant. The rolls are a littler smaller than some other sushi places, but I prefer the size and price. It allows me to order a wider variety of sushi and not pay a lot. Fresh ingredients and great iced tea make it a great go to sushi place for me. We’ll definitely go back again and again!

Good! Definitely good!!! This place is small which probably is the reason we had undivided attention. The sushi was good; the service was good; the atmosphere was good. Unfortunately nothing special; nothing pulling me back. My wife and I walked passed a few sushi bars in pursuit of this spot; sorry, I wish I stopped at any of the others we passed.

My fiancée and I came here to order take out and enjoy our lunch at the beach. The prices seemed reasonable, since we pay about the same price in the central valley for sushi. Once we opened the containers we were disappointed at the presentation of the rolls and especially the flavor. I ordered one spicy salmon roll and he ordered the California roll. The spicy salmon roll had absolutely no flavor, except for the taste of rice. My fiancees lacked flavor as well. I do not recommend going to this restaurant, due to the prices, sad presentation and quality of food. I would recommend going to another sushi place in Arcata. There are other restaurants that provide better quality sushi and taste for the same price. I am sure the 5 star reviews are from people who have never had sushi, besides the stuff they order here or are paid to say it is great quality, tastes good, etc,.

Bummed to give a poor review because our server was so sweet and helpful and this review is on no way a reflection of the staff. The quality of the fish was good, but the review is mostly on the size of the rolls. No exaggeration– the smallest sushi rolls I have ever encountered regardless of the type of sushi bar. Regular price for small quantities. What a shame.

The service was good. The food/taste was mediocre, it’s just the size of the sushi rolls that really bothered me, that I needed to take a picture of them. It may be due to different sushi chefs… who knows.

IT’S AIGHT. If you’re looking for a place to eat mediocre sushi for really cheap sushi tao is your destination. The food at sushi tao is rather dull and unexciting but hey it is pretty cheap. The sushi that they serve at sushi tao is basically the sushi that you could get at a supermarket. If you are looking for really good sushi do not go here, but if your low on money and in a rush ehh why not. There are many other places in Arcata where you can get good sushi but it may cost more.

First sushi place I have tried in Arcata and I was very impressed by the quality and service. Everything we ordered was fresh and tasted very good. They have lots of sushi to pick from and locally themed combinations. The prices fantastic so splurge with all sorts of rolls. Friendly, neighborhood spot that has my thumbs up.

I give it 2 stars for ambiance & great service. The tempura was battered in something not used in Japan. The tempura was served in a bamboo basket with a paper liner. It soon became apparent the liner was to try to absorb the grease that was pooling there. The tekka maki was absolutely nothing to write about. The miso soup was not free, as others reviews mentioned.

My favorite sushi place in Arcata. Yes, the quality could be better and the rolls could be bigger(however, both are perfectly adequate) but the prices are the best in town and the service is amazingly fast. I’ve been in and out(eating there!) within 20 minutes before, so it’s great on a short lunch break.

A recent trip on a Sunday early evening, the place was almost empty when we arrived, but 30 minutes into our meal, was near full to capacity. Sushi Tao is one of the best sushi experiences in town, a small place, with fast, friendly and efficient service and very fresh sushi. This Sushi restaurant is also a great value. Very fresh ingredients, and also priced below the competition around. The rolls are not over stuffed with rice, and the ratio is much more proportionate to the ingredients used in comparison to other places in the area. Also they have a decent sake selection. We had the house sake warm and it was quite good, so much so, we ordered a small at the end of our meal just to enjoy while we sat and savored our final bites of rolls. We ordered the house combo rolls to share along with a couple different specialty rolls — the pink lady and a golden dragon. Both of these specialty rolls were outstanding. Full of flavor, textures and a near perfect ratio of rice to ingredients — the roll were both very filling and deliciously fresh. We ended with the fried bananas and Mochi green tea ice cream — to share — this is a tasty and light dessert that was a great end to a wonderful meal. All in all, this is one of the best sushi places in the area and well worth the effort to stop and enjoy a solid meal. You will most likely not be disappointed. A solid 4.5 stars — rounded up for local support. 239

LoVE LoVe LOVE this place! Its a small place in a corner of a «strip mall» on 18th& H Sts in North town Arcata. They have a great selection of fresh sushi rolls, soups, appetizers, sashimis and hot plates. Great for kids too… they have a kids menu. Start with entrance… always greeted in and sat immediately although its small and gets packed fast! Décor is great! Basic booths and tables but the wall art is amazing… its amazing 3D mosaics done by local Artisan Laurel Skye and her daughter, Marley. Art doesnt make it all good… its the service which is awesome, tables always cleaned, drinks refilled and the food! Portions are ample, rolls are niced sized. They come out on unique plates. You can get soda, sake, beer, tea beverages as well. Compared to other local places, I really like this place over the ok food and high prices of the other sushi joints in town! My first choice in sushi spots, I have brought numerous guests on numerous occasions who have also patronized without me. Theyre great for takeout too… approx 15 to 20 minute pickup time. Dont miss this place!!!
