MADCatfish Blues Festival

My plus 1 and I had the opportunity to attend the inaugural MADcatfish Jazz Festival on Saturday — compliments of The amazing Katie B — and had a soulful afternoon. We were entertained by some of the Jazz industry’s best and especially loved the picturesque mountain backdrop. The Delgado brothers were our favorite but all the musicians played with equal heart and soul. Lovely event!

With complimentary tickets from the amazing Katie B., I was able to attend this cool event on Sunday… the opening act was jammin’ blues by the Scorch Sisters — Francesca Capasso (vox, perc.), Alicia Morgan (vox, keys), and Kimberly Allison (gtrs.). They were so amazing that I bought a CD.
The main act was the legendary Barbara Morrison. Funny, charming and awesomely talented. What a treat! I have wanted to see her perform for a very long time and I was not disappointed. An autographed CD for me!
Besides music… the Santa Anita race track, an historic 1934 landmark with its Art Deco styling, provided shade and beauty on a gorgeously temperate SoCal day. We indulged in Bloody Mary’s and fried catfish with hush puppies. Various vendors of clothing and jewelry were also on hand to tempt us.
I do hope the event grows in popularity next year. I would definitely attend again.

Great blues all around, vocals are great and the musicians are the bomb (seasoned). If you couldn’t make it out, put it on your calendar for next year’s.

Super fun blues and jazz music off the Chandelier Room at the Santa Anita racetrack! Two days (9÷5−9÷6) over Labor Day Weekend. The one and only Barbara Morrison performed Sunday, sooo. you know I was there!
I spent Sunday Funday volunteering at the Unilocal!table. If you attended, you probably saw the beautiful faces of Jeff B., Louisa B. & Elizabeth V. and received a free fan from us.
Lots of vendors selling jewelry, art, clothing and associated wares
Can’t wait for Barbara to come out!

What an excellent event! I was lucky enough to witness each and every amazing act that took the stage. Great food, great music, great setting.
We all stayed nice and cool thanks to the Unilocal fans and had a great time looking at other vendors merchandise.
Definitely an event to check out next year if you were unable to make it for the inaugural MADCatfish Blues Festival!
