Hair by Veka

Coming into the salon it seemed nice. Veka seemed fantastic but behind the seen it was a different story.
I had a wonderful job in beautiful down town Santa Monica. But I am living in Monrovia so I wanted somewhere closer with sometimes spending 5 hours on the road. Applying to first Ave it all seemed to be perfect but I guess it’s true «when it’s to good to be true it usually is.»
My interview went well. I washed and blow dried Veka’s hair. She told me my blow dry needed some work and I told her I was out of practice with it. She hired me because I said I was good with hair cuts. I was nothing but honest with her on what I needed improvement with because I didn’t need her position I wanted it. I didn’t need I still don’t need to work for her.
Realizing when she tried to get me to sign a paper saying I shadowed her, when she had already offer me the position saying «I want to stop the interview process and proceed with you» usually means your in.
I would not recommend waiting your time with this woman or her business. There are a million good hair dressers but in this industry personality as well as talent is needed.

Damaging lives and careers. That is Veka’s specialty!
My daughter was working as an assistant in a High End salon in Santa Monica. A 5 hour commute. She decided to look for something closer.
Veka called my daughter back for an interview for an Asistant job. Everything went well. She got the job and she told Veka’s that she would have to put in her two week notice with the Santa Monica Job, which she did. Veka’s told her to come in and that her that her first day would just be training. Day two, slow day in the salon. Veka told her to Highlight her hair and blow dry it.
My daughter was fired after 2 days for blow drying too slow. Veka paid her cash for the two days and tried to make her sign a paper that said that she wasn’t hired and that she was «shadowing her». My daughter is inteligent, so she did not sign it. Falsifying documents is illegal.
Veka knew that my daughter quit a good job in order to work there, yet she stabbed my daughter and her career in the back. (Heard from a good source– «She fires a lot».)
My opinion, do not apply for a job at this salon.

This was my first time getting my hair done here and I was blown away with the customer service and the quality of work this salon had to offer! My stylist, Chloe, listened to exactly what I wanted and made sure to take her time cutting off all of the damaged parts of my hair while still keeping the length. She is an awesome person & very easy to talk to as well. I highly recommend this salon and to get their kerastase treatment because it will make your hair look and feel brand new especially if you have dull/​dry hair like I did!

I’m always happy to come to 1 st avenue salon veka always knows how to make me happy. She has an amazing assistant Ana both always tag team to do my hair. I’m going for something completely different. A new look. I just love the kerastase hair line products. They both always make sure I’m happy this place is full of positive energy everyone always working fast paced they have fun music and I always get offered something to drink.

I took a leap of faith and ended up calling Veka for an appointment to color my hair. I had saw some of the ombré looks she created and was hoping that my hair would turn out great as well.
Veka took a look at my hair and we looked through some pictures for an idea of what color my hair would turn out with the current colors I had already had. We ended up deciding on a dark brown to caramel ombré. I wasn’t expecting anything much, as I knew my hair was RED with bleached highlights.
3 hours later… my hair came out gorgeous! Good thing Veka took before and after pics, because I literally couldn’t believe my eyes. My hair was now a perfect brown. I seriously still haven’t figured it out. My conclusion is just that Veka is a genius when it comes to color and I’m completely in love with my new hair.

Love this place ! Veka was my stylist and she exceeded my expectations ! Was afraid to go light and she did better than I expected. I love my hair !

Veka is an amazing hair stylist and knows what she’s doing when it comes to color and anything else to do with hair! I come in regularly for color keratin and cut. I refuse to go anywhere else because of her excellent expertise in hair!

Great customer service. Veka is a great listener. She really tried to understand what you want before starting the process. I come here regularly for touch ups with my color, as well as cuts and hair product. My hair has never looked better!

Veka is great and she will leave u looking spectacular! I have been coming to her for years and she will do exactly what you ask for and she also gives great recommendations!
