I feel that this place is a great place to get a feel of the 1950’s but yet in a modern setting. I mean the décor on the wall and the music playing in the background makes you feel nostalgic for the 1950’s. If you are anywhere near Apple Valley than this place is a must. This place was half-full for a weekday lunch time which makes it a good place to try. The servers are really friendly and will give you a nice friendly hello. Plus this food has a wide-range of items to choose from during all hours of the day. What I mean is that you could either select an omelet like I did or to try a club sandwich like a few others in my party tried. They usually have breakfast items or even a burger. It is so much better than Denny’s or Ihop,(yet I also like those places as well). I am not sure, but I will definitely will be back again soon.

I was looking forward to trying this place. Feeling disappointed because I want to love a local breakfast place in the burbs, but the service was so bad. Came in for breakfast. Plan to try it again, hoping it was a bad day. Pros: –food was good –Sebastian joes ice cream(will come back for this to– in the summer for sure!) –nice variety on the menu –One staff member deserves big praise – a young, blonde bus boy? who was polite, helpful, and apologetic to our poor service. I noticed he was very considerate to his coworkers as well. I saw another customer tip him individually for his service. For a bus boy to stand out is impressive. Cons: –slow service all around –unapologetic staff –inattentive staff Examples: –Came in and there was a sign that said«wait to be seated». We waited, and waited, and waited, then shuffled a little closer to some staff at a register hoping someone would notice. At least 3 people walked by us, and no one said hello, or may I help you, or someone will be with you shortly. Kind of odd. We got seated after we said something –we didn’t see a server for at least 15 min once seated. May have been longer(15 from the time I checked the time bc I felt like we had waited awhile). I asked a bus boy since no one else was accessible. He apologized and 5 min later a server came over, but never acknowledged or apologized for the inconvenience –we waited 45 min for our food. The bus boy saw this and apologized, but our server never acknowledged or apologized when our plates came. By the time we were eating we had been there an hour. Too long for eggs and bacon at a diner. What a bummer!

Their omelettes are so puffy and amazing!:) been here 3 times or so now and have never been disappointed with the food! Love the cute diner feel and the fun menu names too. Good place to take someone to if they are new to town.

Week night evenings are pretty quiet. I went here for dinner with my wife and we nearly had the place to ourselves. This meant we had the full attention of our server, who was very pleasant and attentive. She gave us time to order, checked back frequently, and engaged in pleasant conversation. She was wonderful. The décor is diner style crossed with a modern coffee shop. There is a fireplace and comfy chairs and the prerequisites pictures of Elvis and Marilyn. I found the in-between style OK. They have seating in the hallway outside the restaurant that is staged like outside seating, but it’s clearly not. My wife ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken and I ordered the Ruben and Fries. She loved her food, comfort food on a cold winter night. My sandwich was not quite crispy enough, so as I eat it, the filling would fall out to my lap and plate. Also, I missed the crunch. The meat was OK, I have had much better and some worse. Overall, the sandwich was fine. Their fries were good, though the portion slightly smaller than I expected. I was still full, so not an issue. Many places have portions that are huge because fries are cheap. They were done and crisp but were not made in house. That, I think is were things could be stepped up. Great dinners have a feeling a scratch made food. I have eaten breakfast here and their breakfasts are better because of this. I do prefer this place to any chain place you can find in the area. We have been here with family from out of town and everyone finds something to enjoy. Ultimately, the Valley Diner is a good place to go that could be a great place with just a little fine tunning.

My daughter and I stopped for a late breakfast on Saturday. All tables were full, a good thing to see because we have been here several times over the years and always enjoyed our meals. We sat at the bar and were promptly served by a waitress who got us our beverages right away. I always have the Minnesota Rancher breakfast. It was tasty and well prepared as usual. There was a longer, but not unreasonable wait for our food, because the place was packed. I recommend patronizing this wonderful diner because it is privately owned and provides delicious meals in a pleasant atmosphere.

This place is really nothing special. Slow service, standard food, and very high prices for what you’re getting. The one time I dined here, there seemed to be no one else in the restaurant. Honestly, I am surprised this place is still in business.

We went there for breakfast and they said to sit anywhere. We waited for a server to come over and give us a menu and coffee for over ten minutes but they never came, so we just decided to leave. This was a pretty weird experience, especially since they had two servers and they weren’t that busy. Based on the other reviews, I’m guessing this place won’t be around for much longer…

Had breakfast with a friend. Was greeted by a wonderful waitress with a great smile. Just enough attention so i wanted for nothing without being interrupted constantly. Had a veggie omelet and i doubt i will be hungry till way after lunch. It was excellent! I will become a regular

I got this recommendation from Unilocal and I’m glad we tried this place. I had the Cajun breakfast and my boyfriend had the TexMex and both were great, but the star was the Raspberry Fritter Bread French Toast… it was DELICIOUS! I’m not always a fan of Raspberry items, but this was fresh tasting with just the right hit of raspberry in the bread. The service was great as well… friendly and attentive. As far as the place itself, it was in a newer strip mall and was nice and clean and open feeling, but the feeling is a little confused between a coffee shop and restaurant, so it seemed there was a lot of wasted space on couches and seating not conducive to eating. I think they may want to rethink that a bit as it might be a turnoff to going there if you can’t get a seat or have to sit at a couch while eating at a coffee table. Just a thought. Otherwise a really great place! I’m already craving that Raspberry French toast :)

My wife and I attempted to have breakfast here on a Sunday morning but we ended up sitting in the waiting area for 20 minutes even though there were 4 empty tables that apparently nobody had time to bus the dirty dishes and clean for the next customer, so we became so frustrated that we left, so unfortunately I can not write a review as to how good the food actually was, we were extremely disappointed !

Super slow! Sunday morning breakfast…, simply not equipped or prepared for a full restaurant. Waited over 10 minutes for first siting of server, then almost 45 for food. Black table cloth disgustingly dirty.

Breakfast was not good. Scrambled eggs were terrible, about two strands of cheese in skillet. Very poor experience.

After my 12 year old insisting we revisit Valley Diner after a 5 year break from it after a bad experience, I caved and we went yesterday for lunch. She ordered fish & chips. I ordered chicken fried steak. My eldest daughter ordered the gyro omelette. The fish & chips were served with no tartar sauce and we had to ask for it. The fish appeared to be generic frozen fish filets from a grocery store and were very small compared to most fish dinners at restaurants. The flavor was«okay» to all 3 of us. The chicken fried steak was pale(not golden brown), very flat and lacked any flavor or seasoning. It also looked like a frozen microwave meal that was put on a nicer plate. The gravy was so thick and gelatinous, that I couldn’t even eat it. The fries were okay, but nothing special & I had to ask for ketchup. The regular cappuccino was excellent. The gyro omelette was served with no cucumber or tzaziki sauce, and we had to request it. The egg was thick, fluffy and rubbery, with a LOT of moisture that was easily squeezed out if it like a dish sponge. My daughter couldn’t eat it, so she picked out the filling and ate it without the«egg». She said the lamb, feta and mushrooms were all good. All in all, I thought it was highly priced for below average food. My 12 year old said«Mom, I love food and I hate to say this, but I don’t ever want to go back there. It makes me said because I love the looks of the place!» Valley Diner is decked out in retro décor, giving the ambiance & nostalgia of the 50s &60s, but on a much bigger scale. Despite the size, there was only one other occupied table, and while our server was nice, she was pretty slow. It is sad, because it could be so much better and/or much cheaper prices. Our bill for 3 meals, 2 sodas & a cappuccino was over $ 40, not including tip.

Valley Diner is pretty dope. The staff is very friendly. Lots of seating options: whether you want to sit inside or out, or just grab a coffee and chill. The portion sizes are perfect for diner style food. The staff is friendly and prompt about refilling coffee. Also, if you think diner coffee should be anything but average, you’re wrong. I would strongly recommend the Gyro Omlette or the OMG breakfast.

The experience was mediocre at best. The food was what to be expected from the posted reviews but in the service department better. It was hard to give this rating as I think they are trying its just not up to par. They have a unique location with no real near competition and they are not using the potential. Box is checked.

I love supporting my local businesses and I feel that this place deserves your patronage. Some of the other reviews are a little mixed so I was apprehensive giving them a try. I hate paying for a bad time! But I was pleased with my experience and I don’t have anything negative to say. We wanted to try a little of everything, so we got some breakfast; the gyro omelet and another thing I cant remember. A Cajon breakfast something and the Elvis Burger. Breakfast here was decent, but I prefer other places. The burger on the other hand was awesome and generously big. I plan on coming back for their burgers. Our service was good. She was quite busy but still got us what we needed and the food came out when it should have. I think maybe the problem people are experiencing here is that they are a small business they may be reluctant to hire more staff and find themselves bitting off more than they can chew, so hopefully they will wise up.

Review title: «I was about to go ham: Very average breakfast. Nothing specifically stood out except the deli sliced ham that they served. I prefer diners that serve ham steaks! Great place for a recovery breakfast after a night of indulging spirits. Quick and c onvienient but not great.
