This review is based on the grilled chicken sub I had — which was terrible. The chicken was dry and definitely over cooked. The toppings were decent but they charge you an extra .50 for each additional topping(most places that I’ve been to don’t do that) and they charged me an extra $ 1.50 for cheese even though the menu said all subs include cheese.

A few months back, I wrote a review for«Johnny’s Pizza,» a fantastic business in Cary that comes up as being in Apex. I mentioned the similarities of the food between Johnny’s and«The Pizza Dude.». After the review, the owner sent me a message. Here is most of it: «Funny you mentioned the Pizza Dude, that was my restaurant from 2005 – 2013. I sold everything, recipes and all, to the current owner… without the name of course. Glad to hear they are putting it to good use.» That said, check out my JP review here — . It’s basically an exact opinion of this spot, give or take a few differences. Same stuff all around. Amazing wings — my absolute favorite in the Triangle, and very good pizza — depending on what you order. I like to keep it simple because when you get elaborate, the toppings become unmanageable. I’d say that the main differences between Johnny’s and Dude are that Dude operates out of a larger space and the service can be light-headed whereas Johnny’s is wholly efficient. One time I went into Dude and ordered a pie, stood there for five minutes waiting for the order, and when the cashier returned from the back, she asked if she could take my order. Things like that have happened on three different occasions within a year’s time and I’m like seriously, wtf? Other than that harmless type of goofiness, you can’t go wrong with this business. Especially if you live in Apex, because Johnny’s gives a really hard time when it comes to deliveries. I think they have a $ 40-$ 50 minimum and that’s garbage. None of that ridiculousness from The Pizza Dude.

We moved to the area a year ago and have been trying several local pizza places. The Pizza Dude has definitely exceeded my expectations! Crust is both chewy and crunchy, topping choices are plentiful, and the finished product is delicious. But, what prompted me to write this review is the customer service. Ordering over the phone, I have been greeted by a very friendly girl who gladly makes a custom pizza for me, subbing out toppings, making two cheese-less slices for my lactose-intolerant son, and even calling me back to confirm that everything was exactly right for my last order. She did this all with pleasure(where other places grumble at, and sometime deny, my requests). The delivery boys have also been very pleasant. We will definitely continue to order here!

Just moved to the area and we’ve been here 5 times in the past 3 weeks… pizza has been consistently great, the fried ravioli is awesome and the people there are super friendly. We’ve tried a couple other pizza joints in the area but the Pizza Dude is our go-to place from here on out.

Nice big! Pizza slices. The 2slices plus drink for $ 6 is a good deal. I stopped at night for a pizza fix. I ordered extra cheese and mushroom on the other slice, same price still. Nice thin crust, not oily. Sauce was ok… However I would like to have just a little bit more sauce on my slices. For that I prefer Salvios pizzeria just a bit more. But pizza dude closes later at 10pm, which was convienent. I would rank pizza dude as my #3 top pick of my style pizzas in the area. I would return.

We’ve tried many pizzeria since our move from NY and this is the only place that stood out and highly comparable to NY pizza. Perfect crust and so delicious! Awesome customer service. And much cheaper than other pizza places in Apex. This will be our«it» place for pizza from now on.

The slices at Pizza Dude are the best. They have great specials & also serve beer. If you check their Facebook page they often post daily specials for wings and pizza. I highly recommend them.

During our roadtrip from Boston to Florida, we stopped on our way at a friends house in NC. They ordered food from Pizza Dude. The pizza was awesome and the poppers were amazing. Im a huge jalepeno popper fan and these were the best Ive ever had. Good stuff, I recommend!

Pizza is good for the area but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. We have three diff families at the pool but we’re not allowed to use three coupons. Don’t bother calling on 3 phones cuz apparently there can’t be more than one family ordering from the same location. Customer service trumps pizza and fail miserably!

Usually the food is awesome! Sadly, tonight’s experience was a little less than their best. The pizza was hard. Like I said, normally they are outstanding, not sure what happened tonight.

June 12, 2015 Visit: Let me start off by saying that I am not a big pizza fan(meaning I prefer eating any other food rather than pizza) and my dad is a pizza snob(he thinks anything other than NYC pizza, sucks). However, he recommended this place and we can BOTH agree that this PIZZAISDELICIOUS!!! My parents told me that they have had their spaghetti and another pasta(I can’t remember which one) and they both loved it. I had their cheesecake and it was delicious. Who knew a pizzeria could make great cheesecake? This is my family’s pizza spot. The food is just to damn good.

Really good food(at least what we ordered was). A bit pricey compared to most pizza joints, even NY ones, but there aren’t many good ones to choose from around here. Usually get the wings with a side of pizza. Wings are well cooked and crispy, pizza is NY style in size with JUST the right amount of sauce and cheese. We also enjoy their insane spicy sauce… not just heat… has flavor too. Will frequent this place as much as our pockets will allow.

Well here it is pizza is good, do not know about the other food, however I have had there garlic nots and they suck, I have had them many times here at pizza dude as well as other places it’s hard to get them the way they should be cook but when you ask many times not to soak them in garlic and to cook them so are cooked not raw and you get them burnt and you call up and tell the manger and said that he looked at them before they went out for delivery that’s when you stop going their to eat. How is this manager running this restaurant, I told him that he should come here and eat them because I’m throwing them out. There was know answer on the other end not even sorry not even I’ll replace them at no charge nothing know credit no refund nothing, so I hung up the phone after 2 min of silence.

My boyfriend and I love this place and we always refer our friends! Wings and pizza are def tasty. My only qualms being the sometimes lacking service and the current 90 health score. They have added beers on draft — local hoppyum, Sam Adams and a few others. I am a fan of the remodel. Although there was no signs when they were remodeling and for a short time we thought they were closed for good!

I’m so exhausted I don’t even know how to start this. How about like this. I’D GIVETHEMZEROSTARSIF I COULD! After a 2 hour 15 minute odyssey on Halloween to get my pizza I’m beyond frustrated. I called The Pizza Dude at 5:20 p.m. expecting a long delay for pizza. When I ordered my one cheese pizza and one sausage and pepperoni pizza I was told that it would be a one hour wait which was acceptable being that this is Halloween. So, I arrive at 6:30, giving them an extra 10 minutes to complete my order and was told by the lady dressed in Batman attire that it would be just a few minutes. GREAT! Me best mate and I sit down at the closest table to the register and wait… and wait… and wait. Then the lady comes up to us and asks for my name and what I ordered around 6:50. WTF?! I give my name and my order, again, and wait. and wait. and wait. Then the lady comes into the restaurant dining area asking if we would like a beer. Because nothing mixes better with driving around throngs of kids in the street like alcohol! So, at 7:20, after watching people come in and out getting their pizzas, leaving with their food and what I assume was gift certificates to make up for the long delay, I decided to remind them that I was still sitting in their restaurant waiting for my pies now exactly one hour after I was told it would be ready initially. They looked at me like I had never been in the restaurant! I was told it would be 2 more minutes, on top of the 2 hours I had already waited. I got my pizzas about 5 – 10 minutes later and left without being given even an apology. Then I get home, my kids are trick or treating already. I open up the pizza and it’s disgusting. We ate 2 slices each and threw the darn things away. So disappointing. So, if you decide to get pizza on a busy night, you should give yourself a good 2 hours to get your craptastic Pizza Dude pie. Or get a DiGiorno from Food Lion and save yourself an hour and 45 minutes. Dear Owner, don’t bother responding. Having read your other excuse filled responses to other putrid reviews, you can say nothing to make me feel better about your establishment.

I have waited two days to write this so I could calm down. This is the first review I have ever written on Unilocal so hopefully that tells you all how bothered I was by this experience. On Sat night I called and ordered a large pizza for delivery from The Pizza Dude. It was about 7pm and my two boys and I were starving. We found this place online and the reviews were good and they deliver. We were too tired to go out to eat and had just rented a movie to watch at home. When I called in to place my order, I not only gave my address(which is in Apex, like the restaurant) to the guy on the phone, but I even double checked that they could deliver to my address. He said yes and that it would take 35 min or so. After about 40 min I called them back. First they couldn’t find my order at all and then the(what sounded to be a) young woman I was talking to came back to the phone after a few min to say«oh sorry, our driver said that you live outside of our delivery radius so we cancelled your order.» I asked if she was joking with me and told her that I specifically confirmed that they could deliver to my address. Then I asked why no one called me back. She had no answers and just offered to make the pizza and have me come pick it up. I of course argued that they should deliver the pizza as promised but she wouldn’t budge and kind of started laughing at me. I told her I was really put off by this but I would be willing to pack up my kids and drive to the restaurant if they would comp the pizza. Was that too much to ask after they screwed my night up… She put me back on hold and came back on a few minutes later and said that they wouldn’t comp the pizza. I said«you won’t even give me a discount after your screw up» and she said no and was very condescending. I told her this was the worst customer service I had experienced in a long time and that I would be letting others know about it. At that point she hung up on me. Wow… that’s all I can say.

Pretty good pizza for a great price! We got regular medium pizza with mushrooms and black olives and 2 drinks for $ 12!!! It was hot and ready when they bought it out– it did take awhile like 5⁄10 mins for them to make. Great cuz it is a local pizza place. We will be going back and ordering pizza from there a lot!

Think big floppy slices of thin-crust pizza and you’ll understand what Pizza Dude is about. Located in a little strip mall off of Williams Road, Pizza Dude looks like every single pizza joint out there! Tiled floor, formica tables, self-serve soda fountain and order counter in back. They serve up thin-slice NY-style pizza which is my fave but what makes Pizza Dude stand out is the size of their slices. $ 6 for two slices, one-topping and a drink, I go with a sausage an pepperoni. Five minutes they bring two HUGE slices draped off of 3 paper plates. They are each about 14″ long with plenty of topping for both. Pizza Dude slices are pretty thin, a bit soggy but still pretty tasty. And it’s a LOT of pizza for the $ 6, I was a happy boy. I’ll need a return visit to get a feel for how good their slices are but Pizza Dude is solid. Don’t let the name fool you, if you’re up for some za and lots of it, stop on by…
