Rookie’s Sports Bars – Apex

Lunch service was extremely slow… We order 3 grinders and a salad and it took an hour and half for lunch, and they weren’t busy. I asked about our food (about 45mins after we placed our order) and she said that they were bringing all the patio food out together?! Never heard that one before. Needless to say when our food arrived it wasn’t very good since it had probably been sitting back there for so long. The only plus side was the patio was nice.

First and last time!!! Waited over 20 minutes for a beer and chips and still did not receive anything but water, second employee checks on us we express our disappointment 5 minutes later we get up and exit this establishment and go next do to JD’s! Don’t make my mistake and waste your time with this establishment!

Too crowded for my liking plus the service and food were not great. We went to have a few beers to watch a game but ended up leaving after one. Maybe it will get better with time?

Hello fellow Unilocalers! I have been trying to get around to writing this review for my new go to bar in Apex! My husband and I have been so sick of the other bars in town so Rookies is such a refreshing change. The bartenders are always friendly and eager to please. My husband and I absolutely love the chicken wings (spicy garlic) my mouth is watering just typing this! My sons love the pizza here so we have also came for family pizza night a few times. Anyways, with two young boys it is hard to find time for nights out with the hubby but we want to thank Rookies for making these rare occasions SPECTACULAR!

My wife and I went to Rookie’s last night for the first time and we were totally unimpressed with the service, food and hospitality! When we arrived we were told there would be a 15 minute wait or we can choose to sit at the bar which had seats available so we chose to sit at the bar. Upon arriving at the bar we sat down and were immediately informed that the seats we selected were ‘reserved’ which I never heard of. We moved 2 seats over and ordered drinks and 2 appetizers. The bar tenders were very cold and the service was terrible except to the people who frequent the bar. The food came out 25 minutes later and no contact from the bar tender since our arrival! The nachos with pork was very dry because it had been sitting waiting to be served. The other dish was fine. We had to ask for water refills and as I stated before it was almost like we were not there. Upon our departure I talked to management and expressed our disappointment which they were sympathetic with and invited us back. Quite honestly we will stick with JD’s which hands down has MUCH better food and drinks.
Rookie’s made a lot of ‘rookie’ mistakes and for that reason we will never frequent this establishment again!

after a dismal restaurant left this location, like the mighty phoenix, rookies arises! Very pleasantly surprised. solid wings, knowledgeable staff, friendly, some decent specials and perhaps the best calzone ive had in years. everyone at the table was impressed. definitely recommend for football watching place and a solid dinner place as well!

Popular place to watch football on Sunday, the bar was slammed! Rookie’s has tons of TV’s.
Downsides:
–The service was SLOW and not that great, in my opinion there were not enough servers
–Craft beer selection was slim, if you like domestic drafts then this is your place because they are $ 2.50
–Food was okay, onion rings were very greasy
–Too loud for me
I would not return personally since I prefer JD’s Tavern or Rudy’s around that area but check this place out because you may like it.

This sports bar occupies what was previously Rudinos Pizza. They have a pretty similar menu, but the food quality has improved. The Manager and the «Busboy» make the rounds to ensure you’re getting good service. The bar staff is a significant customer service upgrade. I haven’t had a bad meal here yet… hope it continues.

Ok so we stop by the Rookie’s in Apex (at the recommendation of Kathy) because we were at the Rookie’s in Durham last week and had a great time there was 6 of us & even tho the bar & rest were busy. Our server/​bartender Kathy took amazing care of us. She has an awesome personality & you can tell she really enjoys her job & has fun at what she does. A couple of the guys that were with me & my husband tried giving her a hard time & she didn’t miss a beat she gave it right back to them. The funniest thing about it she did it in such a way that it was hilarious & in no way disrespectful. We had such a great time with her she bad a bad week for our group & turned it into a great memory. We will definitely be back to the Durham store to see her!!! Love you Kathy keep up the great work enjoying what you do, it truly shows. Also the food was wonderful for a Sport’s Bar it wasn’t bar food. I had the Spinach Sofia with Salmon awesome, my husband had a salad with shrimp & the guys had a Silicon Roll & a Large Pizza all of it was great. The drinks Kathy made were just what we were looking for refreshing & the beer was Cold! So with all that being said we would just like to say that even at Apex it was great to see Kathy & that her personality & sense of humor carries over to the Apex store as will. We live in Apex but work in Durham so its nice to know now we have to great place to go & bring our crew to knowing we are gonna get the same great service no matter which one we are at. THANK YOU AGAIN KATHY! WE MADE ARE WEEK TWICE!!!

went here on the grand opening night with my girlfriend.
the owner visited our table and informed us there was an executive chef on staff. we were thinking that was awesome, especially for a sports bar. but the food wasn’t executive chef quality in our opinion.
the grinder was just okay (some kind of chipotle chicken with jalapeños), fries were absolutely fantastic though … but the chicken caesar salad was very disappointing. it was dry, lettuce wasn’t fresh, and the chicken reminds me of the ready to eat chicken you buy in the luncheon meat section at harris teeter. certainly not ex-​chef material
we are debating giving it another chance. we are watching other reviews in the upcoming weeks to help us decide.

Nothing good about this place, food was cold, server not friendly, bathroom outdated and just gross!.. won’t last long!

We live in Apex and have been to Rookie’s several times. The staff is always friendly and the food was great! We’ve had the fried pickle chips, wings and the hot wing dip (my personal favorite). The pizza by the slice is really good too… in fact, we haven’t had anything that wasn’t good there. We went on a Tuesday night and there was live music and the owner even stopped by our table to see if we were enjoying our dinner which was so nice. We definitely recommend coming out for music, for watching football, baseball, hockey or any other sport; there are MANY TVs!

Our 2^nd visit and we just walked out… The waitress stopped at our table with water, and that was the last time we saw her… We asked twice for a server to come to our table, but when no one did — we left… Oh, and then saw the waitress behind the bar on her phone.
The first visit, the service was great, waitress was friendly and attentive. We only had drinks and an appetizer, but all was good.
We will think twice before going a 3^rd time.

So glad Rookies opened in Apex! The remodel is great and food is good. Still need to clean up the bathrooms a bit, but much better than the condition they were in before. Pizza is very good and the Sicilian Rolls are amazing!
Great local hot spot and great service!

They didn’t just change the name from Rudino’s. This is new ownership. Believe me, we asked! All new tables, high tops/​seating and it’s bright, fresh and spotlessly clean. They are in the process of adding even more TVs. They have done a really good job.
We live in Apex and wanted to find a «regular» place that we could go to if we are in a hurry without doing fast food. The location is good for us. Service was fast so we ate, got some stuff from Harris Teeter and grabbed my dry cleaning.
The menu is what you would expect. There is something for everyone. Their burgers are huge. My husband couldn’t finish his… so…we’re talking big. Fries are very crispy.
I noticed that they have pizza by the slice so I can do a slice and a salad. Pretty sure I’m doing that next time. (Anyone who knows me knows it would be just wrong to put a whole pizza in front of me.)
