I last visited this exact location before they used the MyEyeDr. brand. I think it was also before they used the previous brand. I’m old, okay? Throughout several management changes, one constant over the years has been Dr. Patel. The last time I visited, probably around 5 years ago, Dr. Patel first switched me to Air Optix over Biofinity. The switch was terrific, and I have been a big fan of Air Optix ever since. Dr. Patel got my prescription right on the first visit, and I was very happy with the service. Fast forward to today, and I decided to return to Dr. Patel. I arrived early for my appointment and was seen early. The process was very quick and painless. No matter what brand it operates under, this location still features that awesome machine that tests your relative vision by bringing a picture in and out of focus and seeing how your eyes adjust to it. Dr. Patel saw me very shortly afterwards and nailed my prescription. MyEyeDr. gives you many perks for ordering a year’s worth of contacts. In addition to the manufacturer’s rebates, you get competitive prices on the contacts, 20−50% discount on prescription glasses, a free pair of sunglasses from a pretty good free selection(or $ 50 towards a pair of your choice), and $ 15 off the contact lens exam. Have you ever wondered why you need to wait for the eye doctor to order your contacts and to then come back into the office when they arrive? MyEyeDr. asked the same question, and they ultimately reasoned that they should skip a step and ship the contacts directly to you. I’ve been to several optometrists over the years, and they all show a certain amount of resistance to giving you a copy of your prescription. MyEyeDr. will provide you with a copy of your prescription without being asked. I saved money going to MyEyeDr. and got an accurate prescription. All of the employees were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the experience was absolutely painless. Even though it’s approximately a 20 minute commute, I will gladly return to this MyEyeDr. location until I leave NC.

My entire family goes here. Dr. Patel is friendly and patient, especially with children. The wait time is basically non-existent and the staff is very helpful and personable. I would recommend these folks to anyone in Western Wake.

I’ve been to both the Raleigh(as Triangle Eye Institute) and Apex(as My Eye Dr.) locations, and I really like Dr. Patel and Dr. Said. The staff at both locations were friendly and helpful, too. I had gone to M.E.D. for 5 – 6 years in VA, too. My main complaint is that after selling the practice to My Eye Doctor, life for a contact lens wearer got more expensive. Contacts were at least twice as much out of pocket as they were last year when it was just TEI. They have program where you can get replacement lenses for tears or loss, which has been helpful in the past, but basically I paid as much for 12 pairs as I would have for 24 the year before — so there’s clearly room to give an extra pair or two. Also, My Eye Dr is big on retinal photos, which I’m OK from time to time, but they couldn’t access my photos form 2 years earlier at another M.E.D. location. If I’m paying for something that’s not covered by insurance, I’d prefer that it really be a premium service(i.e., go above and beyond to have my photos from 2 yrs ago up and ready for comparison, then explain any differences to me). TLDR — The Doctors and staff are awesome(would give them 4 – 5 stars), I’m just not crazy about the new management.
