Ordered a pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms to go. Got home and found they put the toppings under the cheese, making sure that the cheese slides off leaving a tasteless, slimy mess behind. Pizza was bland and easily one of the dullest I’ve had in Arizona. Pricey at $ 20 compared with other local shops. I gave two stars because the staff was very friendly, otherwise pizza deserved 1 star.

Everything about this place was great! Got deep dish pepperoni and sausage for a great price 15.60. I would have easily paid $ 23 for the same pizza at a fancy restaurant. Which quite honestly I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a Chicago deep dish. First bite was amazing! Can’t wait to go back!

Gross. Rib tip all fat and gristle. Refused to comp or offer alternative. Would never eat there again.

Amazing pizza! Can’t wait to try something from the rest of the menu. Owners are very pleasant and took time to explain what they have to offer.

Came here after the reading the Unilocal reviews as the place we were going to was closed. Nice portion sizes and the pizza was great. Loved the crust.

Tasty and worth the wait. It’s better than the conventional fast delivery pizzas, by far. A few things to keep in mind, prior to a Fatman’s Pizza visit are: 1) Be sure it’s not Monday — they’re closed; 2) Dont arrive before 4PM — they’re closed; and, 3) Don’t try to use debit or credit cards — they only accept cash. There is an ATM on the premises, if you don’t mind supporting the poor banking empire with a barrage of fees. If you’re a pizza connoisseur, you’ll likely just visit the one time. But, if you’re just looking for something better than the(fast food) chain pizza joints, you might just become a regular. Let me know how it goes.

The Sicilian lasagna is excellent. Pete the owner really knows what he’s doing here. The ingredients are very good and I’ll be going back again soon. Thank you.

Worst pizza we’ve ever had. If I could give a –5 I would. Can’t even dissolve the cheese it’s like rubber! My husband wouldn’t even let the dogs eat it!

Have eaten here a couple times and have not been disappointed. Ordered a deep dish Chicago style. No skimping on the sausage! Was awesome. Owners are sociable and take time to chat with the customers. Really like the Chicago nostalgia too!

I used to live right outside of Chicago. I have had Deep Dish Chicago pizza and Stuffed Pizza from all around Chicago and the greater Chicago area. This pizza is pretty much on par with what I have had there. However, I have had some stuffed pizza in Chicago from several places that is very watery and makes the pizza soggy very quickly. Fatmans seems to handle stuffed pizza soggy issue quite well. Venting is the key not not let it get soggy. The flavor is right on for the same pepperoni taste, sausage taste etc. Their SMOG(Sausage, Mushroom, Onion, Green Pepper) pizza was great and the perfect combination and amounts of the ingredients. The cheese amount is awesome and plentiful. This is not your nasty fake deep dish pizza you find at the big commercial companies where their view is 60−75% dough is what they consider making theirs a deep dish. If you do not like a heavy, filling, super crazy yummy deeeeeep dish pizza then their Deep Dish or Stuffed is not what you need to order. The gyro were typical Chicago style Gyro. Decent amount of meat, a couple tomatoes, tons of onions, and a fairly decent tzatziki. I prefer a sweeter tzatziki sauce, but theirs was right in the middle. The garlic bread was really cheesy and the real deal also. I am a big guy and can put a hurting on a pizza easily. But 2 slices of this was all I could eat before saying I am done. Any other«commercial pizza and I can wipe 5 – 6 slices+ with ease. Great pizza and B+ in my opinion. Prices are decent as well. I will certainly be back.

Where should I start… First off they clearly don’t live in the 21st century. The hours listed on Google are incorrect I drove all the way there thinking it was open come to find out they only open at 4pm not 11am . Not exactly sure why but I decided to give them another chance so I went back after 4pm of course. I then learn once I get there that they only accept cash. luckily they have an ATM handy so I. Would spend money to get money out to pay them for my pizza… Why make the customer pay 15% of the total to an ATM machine to pay for the pizza. If you had a credit card machine you can build the 3% fees you pay into the cost of the pizza… This is a huge turn off and not to mention a huge inconvenience. If I had to rate just the pizza alone I would give it 3 stars. it was decent but surely not worth all the trouble to get it . I would like to hope they would read this and learn to better serve their customers… But I know that won’t happen based on the fact they neglect to update information on huge sites such as Google.

No lack of food here! Super cheesey and true Chicago deep pan. Very friendly staff. Bring cash but they do have an ATM. Prices are very reasonable! Good deep pan takes about 45 min so plan ahead. Yum!

Just met the owners of this great little pizzeria last night! While I’m not from Chicago –where everyone claims to know good pizza but to us, this was good pizza! The place was clean, fast service and friendly staff. Keep in mind AJ is a ‘seasonal town’ and the bulk of business comes from our«snowbirds or winter visitors» and therefore business will be BUSY from about Halloween to Mothers Day(end of Oct-Mid May) so plan accordingly. Give yourself some time to order or to sit down and eat – whats the rush?! Also a note to out –of –towners(aka my mom) everyday is like vacation here, we do business different and we enjoy life. NO hustle bustle here. Arizona’s diversity and laid back attitude is why I Love AZ !!

1st-time customer. This is NOT Chicago style deep dish pizza. Totally skimped on the marinara and the fLaVoR(NO zest whatsoever). Gave up pizza for lent(40 days!) and called to inquire about the lower-than-sub-par pizzas we received. The owner’s wife answered and she was extremely quick to get us off the phone; unwilling to hear us out. Had a group of 7 people who were eager to get down on some tasty slices and I can speak for all… we were pretty let down, especially after the phone conversation :(

It was a dark and starry night. Late too. The only thing growling louder than the coyotes of the Superstition Mountains hunting reality TV crews was the growling of our stomachs. A meal was in order. Pizza seemed to be the item that would put the inner coyotes to rest. We checked out the ratings in AJ, finding Fatman’s. We tried it. We had a pepperoni pizza and dinner salad. The service was excellent, the pizza delicious, the salad fresh and greener than the desert after four good soaking rainstorms. Pizza is a very personal item. You should try Fatman’s and see if you live in the same universe we do. We’d return. Owoooooooooooo yip yip yip

Being a Chicago transplant, it’s fair to say that I KNOW pizza. Particularly deep dish. Fatman’s does deep dish right! I don’t get out to the east valley very often but when I do, I order the SMOG(sausage, mushroom, green pepper and onion) with black olives added. The star of the group is the hearty chunks of real Italian sausage. Tastes like home! I have tried both thin crust and deep dish and I have to say the deep dish style is the best. Today I picked up a pie on my way home from work, which meant nearly an hour in Phoenix rush hour traffic. The problem with deep dish is the bottom crust can get really soggy from all of the ingredients, but not this pie! The bottom crust held up really well and didn’t turn into mush! My only complaint, and the reason for 4 stars, is their pies need salt! I am not one to over season my meals, but in the three times I have ordered, I felt there is something lacking. Perhaps it just needs a little more sauce? I’m not sure. Once I added a sprinkling of salt the flavors really bloomed. I think I’ll order extra sauce next time and see if that makes a difference. If not, no big deal. I’ll just keep my salt shaker nearby!

Yuuuuummy! A group of us came here after a movie Saturday night. None of us had ever tried Fatman’s, but it sounded better than any of the other options and after our experience we will definitely be coming back. When you go [and I suggest you give them a try!!} get ready for some delicious Chicago style pizza BBQ. My husband and I ordered a thin crust pepperoni pizza, a gyros, beef tips, and 4 meatballs on the side. Other members of our group ordered a deep dish(ham and garlic), thin meat lovers, and pizza pockets as an appetizer. Everything was wonderful. The owner came out and spoke with us to verify our orders and we always had a full drink. When your check is over a certain amount you get to spin a wheel and get free stuff — we scored some BBQ wings! I can’t believe this hidden gem is all the way in AJ! But we will be back soon and are excited to try some new things. This locally owned business has a great environment, it’s not too fancy or over the top. I loved the décor and the façade. It’s cash only, but they have an ATM if you don’t carry cash. Come give it a try!
