This is a great store. Where else can you purchase life’s basic necessities for $ 1? I wanted to create a colorful scheme to my kitchen. The appliances are black/chrome, the countertops are deep granite brown. I added splashes of color by replacing the knives in the butcher block($ 1 each — total cost $ 12), and added colorful dishware on buffet caddy’s on the countertops. The kitchen was tastefully and colorfully transformed for under $ 50. This is the beauty of a dollar store… I must say to Jim G. — it’s painful when our children are targeted. It makes them feel bad, and we as well, as parents. Perhaps this Dollar Store was a target for shoplifting and the sales rep, Andrea, was given instruction to make best efforts to curtail potential theft. While her ‘customer service may be questionable’ I’m sure Andrea was trying to be a good employee and keep her job. In order to keep costs down, retailers must control theft. If the story is recounted verbatim Jim, it’s best to focus on the fact that… this is a dollar store. A great concept! I’m relatively confident the pay scale is such that it would not attract professionally polished, experienced sales personnel. This is a life lesson for the kids, that some people just are not tactful and come off as rude. Life if full of people like this, good to learn this at an early age.

This store has to be the dirtiest retail store I have ever been in. The management and staff are not professional at all and sadly it appears they hire anyone to work. They need new management.

One star because 0 isn’t an option. We often stop at the local sports bar next door and our kids frequently stop here to buy candy and toys. They even know some of the workers by name. Tonight was an absolutely unacceptable experience. They certainly didn’t know Andrea. She proceeded to follow them around the store. Here are some choice quotes: «Are you going to buy something, because it looks like you are going to steal something… if not leave my candy aisle». Duh they are kids in the candy aisle what do you think they are in there for dish detergent? Kids move to toy aisle… Andrea follows. «If you aren’t going to buy something leave the store… you look like the age group that commonly steals from us». I assure you my honor students aren’t stealing 3rd rate crap made in China from the local Dollar tree. As they are walking out they tell her they are leaving. Her response«Good! This isn’t a babysitting service. I don’t have time for you to loiter around. We record everything here with live video cameras.» …I sure hope so, that way corporate can see what they are wasting their payroll on. I felt compelled as a parent to stop in and confront her. She was on her personal cell phone when I walked in. As I questioned her line of accusations she denied most of it and proceeded to tell me «this is a professional place of business». I don’t know does the Dollar Tree go in the same sentence as that… and does it come from someone walking around the sales floor on her cell phone? I was spoken to with a high degree of sarcasm and a condescending tone evidently the same used on the kids who by the way came in with money to spend. As this unfolded some patrons were chuckling at the whole situation… evidently having witnessed it firsthand and knowing it was true. Andrea proceeded to tell them«don’t you laugh!» Time to retire Andrea or go somewhere that isn’t facing the customer. Evidently Anthem is full of thieving young Dollar Tree bandits. They have seen the last $ 1(plus tax) from this family. Normally I wouldn’t waste my time writing a review of any $ store, but when the staff is this incompetent one has to.

Shiny new Dollar Tree grand opening! Lots of fall decorations. And everything looks nice and shiny.
