What a neat store. I have never seen any type of work like theirs before. My husband and I had visited their shop for the first time last December. Amazing woodwork. We liked the idea so much that we decided to have a clock custom made as a house warming gift. Luckily for us, no one had ever requested for the specific area that we wanted done so we were certified as their first chart. Before he left for other work, we had Derek as our sales rep. He was so helpful, friendly, funny, and thorough with his explanation of the entire process. We decided on how the chart would look and picked out the specifics for the clock. Paid for the clock upfront and within 3 weeks we received a digital drawing of the map by their artist named Anna. Anna, was also very friendly and helpful during the rest of the process. We told her the specific additional icons and personalizations we got to choose from and wanted on it and confirmed the final product. Within another 3 weeks we received the clock. AMAZING! It turned out perfectly and beautifully. We met the owner, Chris, too recently when we went to visit the shop again. He’s also a very nice and funny guy. We thanked him for the great and creative work that they do. So cool to have personally crafted woodwork the way Nautical North makes it. We plan to get a piece for ourselves at some point. A response to Cw K’s post: Not sure what happened with their experience with this store. We had a very good one though and the process was as easy as it could get. The digital drawing will look a little confusing with the different colored lines of the water, land, and roads, but unless you can decipher and understand it, it’s going to look off and wrong. Trust in the artist. She has her job for a reason. See the pictures I have uploaded of the drawing of our chart and the finished product.

I love this store! I think they have unique & special items. I’ve given a tray and clock as wedding gifts. I’ve also had out-of-towners visit us and brought them to this store and they’ve unexpectedly purchased something for themselves. I think both Josh and Derek are very helpful when you’re trying to figure out if it’s the correct item for you or when explaining your options. We just bought our 1st wooden picture of the Chesapeake Bay and can’t wait to hang it in our home!

My lovely parents have been married for 27 years, so I thought they deserved a little momento of a special time for them(They never got a fancy honeymoon, but always planned to go to the Bahamas someday). Well they got to go for their 10th anniversary, and I know that trip was real special to them; So I thought I’d get them something to commemorate that trip. While doing my due diligence on the web I cam across Nautical North and their cute wooden maps. My dad’s always been a meticulous hand on type worker, and my mom loves decorating her home with things that mean something, so I thought the engraved wooden clock of the Bahamas would be great! They loved it, and it now hangs in the kitchen. My bro, and sis can’t top that haha.

Beware of any dealings with this company. We lost $ 1,435 and got nothing but heartache. They promised they could make all the changes we requested. We paid a «first edition fee» to customize the chart to our Great Loop travels. Even though we sent them a map with the route and locations marked and included the coordinates for the locations, all three drafts of the chart had significant errors. Even the first chart we received prior to any changes had the Chicago River, the Mississippi River and the Trent Severn Waterway marked on other bodies of water. Those errors still appeared in the second draft along with many more errors. In the final draft we received the placement of several cities also made us wonder if the graphics design person was just guessing on location and not using any maps at all including the one we sent them. The deal breaker was the final draft was submitted to us asking us to sign off on production and advising us we could not have refunds or remakes for mistakes. But this draft had a half dozen errors in placement and a new addition – Prince Edward Island marked as being in the middle of Lake Ontario. Such a huge error on an item we had not requested really shocked us. We advised the graphics design person and the owner that we could not sign off on the chart and be responsible for such careless errors. We paid $ 2,871.25 up front. The graphics design person did not appear to put much effort in the chart drafts(in adobe format) and certainly did not use even the resources we provided. The wooden chart was not even started. Yet we got only half our money back and that was because of our credit card company. The owner refuses to communicate with us. It makes me wonder if they did it on purpose to keep our money. The saddest part is the damage this experience has done to a wonderful memory of the Great Loop.

Excellent quality of pre-made products and customizations galore! The service can be a little iffy… they could probably use a «smile, that’s a customer» lesson every once in a while.

Well I was looking around the store and was about to purchase a map of Long Island when I heard the young man behind the counter explaining to a customer that this is Plebe Parent Weekend and that’s why the streets are so crowded. He then went on to explain that and I quote«the kids who go to the academy will swear that Plebe summer is like boot camp, but it is nothing like it. Not even close. They’re just a bunch of spoiled brats». He then saw me wearing my USNA dad shirt and said«oh there’s a parent in here, I better not say anymore». I told him that he was correct, he shouldn’t say anymore. I will not shop in a store that will not at least respect the effort that our young men and women in service are making to not only protect his right to say such things, but in all likely hood are the only reason for the store’s existence.

This place is really cool. What they carve is beautiful and the employees are funny. There really is a lot of detail and accuracy in their artwork. You can order pieces that personally fit your needs as well. 2 unfortunates on my part: 1) I’m a college student not looking to spend hundreds to thousands on beautiful art to decorate my dorm room just yet. 2) I’m from the dry parts of LA = no body of water = if they were to make me something it would be a piece of wood.

Living in a town near water, I love how this place makes gorgeous handmade 3D wood carved items from clocks to tables. The perfect gift in my opinion for families and friends. My husband and I just sent out a few this year to family of the Chesapeake Bay.
