when i got delivery last time it was awful, but i decided to give them another chance. the alfredo pasta was very tasty, and the foccaia bread was EXTREMELY delicious and seasoned to perfection. only weird thing was how they packaged the food. they put the bread in a paper bag that didnt even cover it all the way…

Now, I am typically not one to trash a restaurant and publicly give it bad marks, but my two experiences at Silvio’s truly do warrant a one-star review. My first experience was an anniversary trip with my girlfriend. While the service was okay, the food was bland. I had the spaghetti and meatballs, and my lady friend had a small pizza. Both were just brutal. We love the farm to table, all natural style – but this was done wrong. On our second trip(this time with my family) the service was dismal. At one point after everyone else’s food came out, our waiter came over to tell us he burnt my sisters pizza, offering nothing else(possibly a replacement pizza, another dish, etc.) and not even apologizing. The manager then came over and told us the waiter hadn’t even put in the order and lied to us about burning it, not caring that my sister wouldn’t eat the whole night. And, the rest of the food that DID make it to the table, once again, was just bland and uninspired. Ann Arbor is an incredible place filled with gourmet restaurants and awesome experiences – this is not it. Save your money and take your business elsewhere.

I am usually far too lazy to write reviews the same day that I visit somewhere, but I couldn’t help myself as this restaurant has taken a complete 180 degree turn since we first visited last year. We felt compelled to give this place another try after seeing it may be under new management. First, upon walking in we were immediately greeted and given the choice of exactly where we wanted to sit. We chose a nice cozy corner to enjoy the live music and considered it a date night. Our waitress greeted us promptly, friendly and excited to share the specialty menu items for the night. She also suggested a crazy delicious beer that my fiancé is now considering his favorite. We started with vegetarian meatballs that were incredibly surprisingly delicious for being vegetarian. They had a nice sear on them and were a great size, 4 to a serving that were doused with a homemade marinara sauce and topped with fresh cheese. It was served alongside fresh baguette that I could’ve eaten a whole loaf of; crispy on the outside and buttery soft on the inside — perfect for souping up the extra marinara sauce. Next came our entrees; we decided to split the special for the evening and a pizza. The special was a mushroom and asparagus risotto and it was so incredibly earthy, buttery, and incredible. It may not be a risotto dish for everyone as it had a serious earthy flavor with the mushrooms and brown rice but man oh man was it incredible. Moving on to the pizza, we went with the smaller sized capricciosa pizza. Perfect for sharing, especially with another entrée and it was clearly freshly made. The crust was crispy and slightly charred and atop of it was a fresh pizza sauce and layered with artichoke hearts, ham*, olives, and delicious cheese. *The ham was no sliced deli ham — I’m talking big chunk slices of ham that had me mistaking it for bacon a few times. And if we weren’t sure we were full or not, the entire evening ended with a big slice of ricotta cake. Something new to me, I was a little weary as I’m not the biggest cheesecake fan. But fear not, it was a cross between a pie and a cheesecake. Flaky pie-type crust held onto a dense cheesecake-like center, so it was not overly sweet but was enhanced with a hint of sweetness from raisins and a small chocolate drizzle. Oh me oh my. Did I mention all the while that service was great? My water cup never ran dry and the live music was a nice, relaxing touch. We never felt rushed or like we needed to leave and it will easily become one of our favorite date night spots!

One of the best places for informal dining in ann arbor. The atmosphere is okay, but looking past that the food is delicious, service prompt and prices reasonable. The organic may be misleading because, while organic, many of the dishes aren’t necessarily the healthiest. I recommend any of the pastries in general though. Not easiest to see from the street, making the term hidden gem particularly appropriate.

Best pizza I’ve discovered in A2, so far. Good ingredients, reasonably quick delivery, nice folks, and only moderately over-priced.

This review only concerns delivery of Silvio’s food. First off, this is some of our favorite pizza around A2. Fresh and delicious. Sadly I do not know if we will be ordering from them again due to issues with their salads. We’ve ordered their Arugula salad three times — the first was delicious and fresh. The second time it arrived wilted and a bit gamey. We thought that was just a fluke, hey it happens to all of us, and ordered it a third time. This last time it was again all wilted and looked to be mainly stems. $ 13 for a salad, especially when you are vegetarian and ask them to remove the meat, is waaay too much to pay for a sad wilted job.

Don’t get to Ann Arbor often, but was up here twice in a weeks period. We were looking for something organic and different. Came here early lunch hour and were the first ones here. So the customer service was fine. The food, while pricey(it is organic afterall), was pretty good. The select your own toppings worked well for us. I would come back again.

Accidental find, but so happy we found this gem of a small restaurant. Everything we ordered was wo wonderful, including our server. Reading the reviews makes me think we caught this place on a good night, but we have every intention of returning. Fresh pasta, tasty thin crust pizza, great salad and soup… Happy campers.

I appreciate the use of fresh, organic ingredients very much! But, it is incredibly expensive and hate to say it, not very flavorful. I had lots of toppings, but it was somehow kind of bland. I would suggest they maybe season their sauce or pizza dough more and I might buy again.

Best Italian food around — great pizza, pesto pasta, and real Italian pastries. Along with the tiramisu and the truffle pizza(and many others) it’s a taste treat. It’s not fast, but it is delicious.

Silvio’s is confused about what it wants to be. That’s the only way I can describe it. We happened to dine in on a night they had invited a band of some sort that looked like a trio of dementors and sounded like gypsy chanting. At first it was charming(?) but the music(if you can even call it that) got to be too much. We ordered three appetizers and one main to share and the service was tediously slow. Too much noise and too little food got old fast. When the food did arrive the portions left much to be desired(like more pasta). Ordered the pesto and was still hungry afterward. Considered getting Chipotle on the way back. One of those places and one of those nights.

My meal at Silvio’s was good, although my banana nutella calzone was tastier than my main course. There’s a somewhat interesting selection of pastas and sauce, and the food is pretty tasty for the price. They also appear to cater to a few different food restrictions, which is nice.

This little spot is a go-to when nothing sounds good. The pizza is absolutely spectacular! The crust is light and crispy, and the varieties offered are one-of-a-kind! My personal favorites are the zucchini & onion, grape, and blueberry pizzas. The stranger they sound, the better they are! I’ve been so many times and have never had a bad meal. I also love that many of their pizzas don’t have red sauce!

You’d be best to stay away. I definitely will not be ordering from here again. (1) I ordered a 10″ truffle and a 6″ margarita for delivery. The truffle pizza was NOT10″. At it’s widest point, the truffle was only 8.5″ across. That’s a 28% reduction is area, or at $ 14 for the pie, about $ 4 of missing pizza. Thanks Silvio’s, I want my money back. (2) The truffle pizza itself was pretty blah. Definitely had no taste of truffle oil, so I doubt they put any on. And I’m pretty sure the mushrooms were sliced portabella, not shitake. (3) The margarita did NOT have fresh mozzarella, despite it being listed on their menu. False advertising anyone? And it also tasted pretty blah.

1. Anyone who leaves Silvio’s a poor rating, or an average one, has extremely POOR taste. This my FAVORITE restaurant in Ann Arbor, and I’ve tried what feels like all of them during my four years at Umich. Silvio’s is a real pizzeria, with incredible variety in the pizza you can get – cheese from fontina to gorgonzola, actually good olives and prosciutto, etc. The ingredients here are incredible, top notch, a rarity in the vast majority of restaurants. The owner actually seems to take care in all the products he buys – from tasty wines from his own region of Italy, local, organic brews and crops. Thus, Silvio’s is a delicious and ethical place to eat. The desserts are also excellent! From my experience seeking out the best pizza in Italy, NYC, and dotted around the US, Silvio’s pizzas still rank among the best I’ve had! What is more, the waitstaff and excellent, and the ambiance is perfect – in the evenings you might see tango dancing, live artists and the like. Absolutely lovely, delicious, and fantastic.

Still giving them 4 stars but after trying it two more times, I like the pizza better. Still obsessed with the arugula salad. Was disappointed by the minestrone soup. It’s not like what I’m used to– very light/sour broth and no pasta.

Decided to try this place after receiving a 10% off coupon and I’m glad that I did. The arugula pizza was superb. The arugula was very fresh and there was plenty of it. The crust was good but I did not get the garlic flavor that was described on the menu. My boyfriend had the Siciliana pizza and enjoyed his too when he removed the anchovies. The anchovies made it too salty and he wished that there was spinach or something fresh instead to balance out the salt.

I really want to give Silvio’s at least four stars, but I just can’t. Every time I come here I have such high hopes, and every time I leave a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong — it’s not a bad place at all. Good tastes and reasonable prices for a college budget. Lots of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free options, so a very good place to come if people in your group have dietary restrictions. Silvio’s is also great about adjusting items on the menu to suit your needs– omissions & substitutions aren’t a problem. The pizza is okay. Really just okay. Great crust but nothing else has really impressed me.(Although it’s great fresh, the pizza doesn’t reheat very well). The pastas are better in my opinion, though some of the sauces are hit or miss. The potato gnocchi with butter-sage sauce is a standout. One of the strangest things I’ve had at Silvio’s however is the friend polenta. The polenta wedges themselves are very good, but they come with mediocre mushrooms with a slice of fontina slice laid on top, partially melted. Not mixed in as cubes, not grated, just a slice– very odd presentation. The service is also very… odd. On one hand everyone who works there is incredibly helpful and attentive, and they offer a free dessert for your birthday! But on the other hand they’re always incredibly slow. On my most recent visit we waited about 30 mins for the appetizer, another 20 mins for the entrees, and another 30 for dessert. Even when the place is pretty empty the service is slow. Overall, very conflicted feelings about the place :(

I love ordering from this place. Dining in, not so much. The service has always been fine — but the space is always so uncomfortable. I don’t know if it’s because it’s a small space and the kitchen heat is radiating into the dining area, but year-round this place is 85 degrees inside. Delivery has always been spot-on. Friendly service, timely delivery and my order — even if customized — has always been correct. I love every single pizza I’ve ever ordered from here. Salads, pastas, and pizzas are great, too. If I’m feeling particularly glutinous, I’ll order their banana and nutella calzone. OMG — delicious. It’s fantastic that they have so many gluten/vegan options and advertise them. It’s really helpful when you’re trying to choose a restaurant when your dining companions have one-million restrictions(hello, ann arbor!). One thing I do love about dining in — they have great drink specials during happy hour and it’s rarely crowded.
