I have been living in a building run by Keys Management for going on 3 years. My apt is in an old building, and it pretty much looks its age, but they don’t try to hide or oversell what they can offer you in the beginning, like most large complexes in the area. I don’t mean to imply that its simply«acceptable» to live here, on the contrary, I love my apartment. Marty is easily the best landlord I’ve ever had(across multiple cities and different living situations). I’m a graduate student, so on my budget its hard to find good service, but they provide it. I don’t know what the 1 star reviewer was expecting, but it often takes days to fix household problems(even if you owned your own house). And for emergencies, they are extremely responsive. I called in the middle of the night once because my power had gone out(just my apt, not the building), and even though Marty was out of town, he took care of it immediately.

I find it strange to find such positive reviews for what is essentially a three-ring circus masquerading as apartment management. I almost thought for a minute I had the wrong management company on here(I don’t; never fear). Maybe things have just gone downhill in recent years, but you could neither pay me enough nor force me at gunpoint to rent from these people again. I liken the owner to a woman who has had so many children she’s just checked out from the parenting process — maybe at one point she cared, but she just got in way over her head, and doesn’t have the time, patience or desire to care for her responsibilities as she ought to. Such is the way his apartments are handled. Repairs took days on end(despite having a «live-in» manager… who is nice enough but never home?) & are cobbled together in the most pitiful & insubstantial ways. Jury-rigs, jury-rigs everywhere. I had nothing but awful experiences, including but not limited to the owner screaming at me over the phone because I dared to call him while he was at the gym to talk about the termination process. The prices he charges for his rentals are overinflated even for the area(which is saying something) & he is impossible to contact in an emergency. The only thing I will say is that the termination process at the end of my lease was relatively smooth, and I did receive my security deposit back in full & on time, no headache or court proceedings necessary. So there’s that, but other than that it was the worst rental experience of my life. Never again.

This is the best landlord experience I’ve had in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area. Not only is my apartment super cute, but Marty(the landlord) and his maintenance guys are friendly and very easy to work with — they will even de-bat your apartment in the middle of the night if you stupidly leave your window open… Although my apartment is in an older building it is very well kept up, I had one issue with minor leaking and Marty got that taken care of right away. The apts are also very affordable especially considering utilities are included. This is the first apartment I’ve rented that I am signing on for a second year.

Strange to write a review about your landlord, but I felt it necessary since I like him so much. Seriously, Marty has been the greatest man to rent from. He has been reasonable on all accounts. When I needed to move(three times) on the same lease, he helped me find the exact apartment I needed and didn’t mind at all. Marty gets things done too. At 2 in the morning when we had a flood in our house from the intense rains, he drove out himself and fixed it. I recommend giving him a call.
