After a morning spent wandering around the Gold Country towns I was ready for a bite to eat. The chalkboard menu on the sidewalk got my attention. When we walked in we were greeted and told we could take any seat though we might to walk to the back to order if we couldn’t read the board from our table. I wasn’t sure what I wanted but when I saw they had a sourdough burger I looked no further. I don’t remember all the sides they offered because I stopped at the home made coleslaw. My husband ordered the pulled pork with a side of home made chili. Food was delivered promptly. Simple presentation. Burger on sourdough bread with a generous portion of Cole slaw. The slaw was delicious. Lovely bite. Burger was just OK. I had a bite of the pulled pork and that was very good. The chili came in a small ramekin and he said it was OK. In future I’d order the pulled pork and slaw and that would be a hit. I would eat here again.

I found both the food and the ambiance of Stacy at Sidewinders to be wonderful. I was especially touched by the warm welcome my daughter and I received when the restaurant opened early just for us. You see, we had been traveling all day and were quite hungry, however, when we arrived at their establishment it was closed. As we walked back disappointed to our car in the rear parking lot we passed two ladies that were working out back of the restaurant. I asked one of them if she could recommend a good place to eat nearby. She consulted with her colleague and they suggested a couple of places. However, it wasn’t the type of food we wanted, so I asked them how about in Copperopolis? That’s when they said they weren’t sure if they’d still be open in that small town especially at that time. They didn’t want us to go away hungry so they opened their door just for us. We ate a tasty meal(mine was a very LARGE Carnitas Burrito) and enjoyed their company for the duration of our visit. In fact, being their only guest we were able to share stories about ourselves and learn more about them and their new business. It was more like spending time with old friends than being customers, which made it even more delightful. I will never forget that experience as it left me feeling very special… and their delicious homemade cookies weren’t the only sweet thing about Stacy at Sidewinders.

Stacy has a great menu with specials everyday. My favs are her carnitas tacos and nachos. Also a must us her sidewinder fries, fresh cut in a steak size fry curls Dipped in beer-batter and deep fried. So yummy served with her special dipping sauce. I recently tried the ribs, They were lightly smoked and so delicious. I read other reviews about the service being slow. This isn’t a fast food restaurant. If you are in a hurry, go to Burger King down the street but if you want a great meal at a really good price with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere, try Stacys Sidewinders!

Best pulled pork sandwich I have had in ages, and the sidewinder fries were great. The service was fast and friendly, overall a great dining experience. The tables were not as clean as I would have liked but it wasn’t that big of a deal.

Thought I’d give it a try. Marginal at best. Food was bland, service slow and environment not very inviting.

Came here today not knowing it had new owners. Old Sidewinders was so great, and as I ate my first bite, I knew immediately it was a different place. We ordered a carnitas tacos plate; the rice was cold and chewy, the beans were cold and seemed to be straight out of the can as they were extremely bland, and the pork wasn’t flavorful and again cold. We also had a pulled pork sandwich and sidewinder fries. The sandwich was lukewarm, but tasted fine. The fries, on the otherhand, were outstanding, and the dipping sauce was spicy and delicious. How is that even possible? Perhaps it was an off day in the kitchen? We’re not sure. But all in all, a very disappointing experience.

The food was great! Fast friendly service. Food was fresh and portions were large. Sweet potato fries and sidewinder sauce were awesome. Place was clean. My favorite meal in Angels Camp!

I posted a review of «Sidewinders» in Angels Camp as have many others. We obviously did not know of the name change. The food was lousy, cold and tasteless and the service was non existent. I gave it two stars on the other review, but am lowering it but so many folks I know have told me how bad their food was at this place. It’s just so sad because it does not really take«rocket science» to make decent sandwiches and burritos.

Awesome food and service for our party of 20. Prices are good and portions are VERY generous. Stacy even made a few items that were not on the menu! She included a short tour of the restaurant(which is a former bank) and gave us free dessert! We’ll be back for sure!

Pretty good burgers. The chips and salsa were good. They have very good pork. I got regular french fries and they were just ok. The place itself is very clean and has a nice look. The lady working here was very nice. I look forward to trying more stuff. My only complaint was the French fries and the menu itself on the wall and counter is kind of hard to order from but maybe it’s just me.

Went in for a cup of coffee after our pizza night and ended up ordering an appetizer(nachos). With coffee … Nachos were made to order. The hospitality was par excellence. Five star for the customer service! Really nice people. What can I say I think I have become a regular now ! :D

Incredible customer service! We had a party of 18(incl. 12 kids) and Stacy came out to make sure we understood the menu items being offered, then she catered to our individual preferences. She gave our kids a tour of the historic aspects of the restaurant/building, then finished it off with free cupcakes! The food was tasty and there were some healthy options. We’ll definitely return the next time we’re in town!

I would have probably gone and not left a review but also never returned, however, I feel like maybe something constructive would help the place out. When I got there another couple was already angry and fighting over the length of time it took to get their food. Bad sign. We ordered. Nothing stands out in the menu but they do have a signature Sidewinder Fries. It’s the type of place you go when there’s nowhere else open. Meals came, not at the same time, staggered and not after the appetizer we had asked to share… a side of their Sidewinder fries. In fact the side never came. As we ate, another customer confronted the order taker with a concern over food delivery time. If anyone is reading from the restaurant hopefully they will get a chance to fix some of the problems before it is too late. I think the order at the menu setup without the proper register space and setup is going poorly and the service to tables without knowing where people went to sit is not working either. You have a cute place and great location. Good luck

The first time we visited they were out of rice and the second time out of beans. They were also out of a few options on the menu. Other than that they were awesome, friendly and the salsa was amazing!

Let me start by saying I LOVED the previous Sidewinders! I’m glad to see a new review page for the new owner, because the new Sidewinders should not benefit from the all the previous positive reviews. Anything before Nov 2015 on the old one is not THIS Sidewinders. Granted, their quality slipped a bit in the months before they closed, but they had been a favorite of mine for a long time before that. I have no idea why they closed the doors, and I was heartbroken when they did, so I was happy to see it opened again. Since I loved the old one so much, I lowered my expectations when I tried the new one. But apparently not low enough! Previously the vibe at Sidewinders was sort of a cool rustic. That’s gone. The new owner is making it all country foofy like all the other typical foothills spots. I wasn’t impressed with the changes in the décor. It all looked out of place, and made the place look cheap. I lowered my expectation of the food just by how the place was looking inside. Then the menu is all over the place. The previous owners kept it to Mex style, sort of like Chipotle. This menu had some burritos, tacos, quesadillas, but then Tuna Melt, Philly sandwiches, burgers??? Decide what kind of restaurant you are going to be and do it well instead of being all over the place. At this point, I almost walked out and went to some of our other fav spots in Murhpy’s, but we wanted to give it a shot. We ordered the nachos. I am a vegetarian, they had nothing veg on the menu and I was pleased when they offered to make it special with grilled vegetables. OK, off to a good start. But to my shock when the plate was delivered, the chips were covered in fake canned cheese sauce, the kind you get from 7 – 11, some disguising mush of refried beans(which are typically not vegetarian, a big faux pas if they weren’t, but I didn’t bother to ask it looked so awful and I had no intention of taking that gamble), and then some ‘grilled’ vegetables. Those veggies never came anywhere near a grill! there was eggplant(on nachos!!!) and some zucchini. They were both nearly raw and had no seasoning whatsoever of the few I dared to try. A scoop of salsa and sour cream completed the mess in front of me. As soon as she set it down, I knew this new Sidewinders was a complete fail. The only positive was the chips were good whenever I could find one not smothered will all the crap on the plate. I could have made a better nachos at a convenience store. I would have at least liked to try to wash it all down with a glass of wine, but no liquor license yet. If you are interested in unprocessed foods cooked well, with seasonings and flavor, or if you liked the old Sidewinders, then move on. Unfortunately the old Sidewinders will just have to live on in my memory, as I won’t be venturing back inside this one again. So sad :(

This was a great stop for lunch. There were 8 of us in our party with 4 kids. Stacy welcomed us by pulling us in and chatting all about her food and lovely basement. She has games for the kids to play while you wait for your food. The prices were good. The chili was amazing! She even gave us a great history lesson on the building.

We’ve been here three days and have eaten here three times. I’ve had three different meals and all have been delicious! Stacy, the owner and cook is kind and Laura who serves is sweet. Pretty much everything is homemade. Chips and salsa are fresh and she serves Tri Tip nachos which are bomb. Definitely recommend this place for lunch and dinner. Oh and prices are totally reasonable.

Had the tri tip french dip sandwich. Delicious! Nice to have new choices downtown. Will definitely try the carne asada tacos next!
