This offshoot of neighboring Andolini’s fine dining restaurant has outstanding BBQ, wings, burgers and fries. The interior is meh, mostly sub-shop-chic because people get food to go or they eat in a hurry. It is not a dine-in experience. But if you eat on the brick-surrounded patio outside the restaurant itself, they serve your order through a small window you bend down to access. Now we have kitschy charm in the shadow of these lovely buildings and the backside of the new/old library. The food is why you’re there, and it is why you’ll return. Their original BBQ is meaty and flavorful, very reminiscent of a southern style BBQ and very hard to come by in these parts. A variety of flavor sauces are offered for this and wings, in case you thought the name meant a pasta place. Their burgers are also delicious, and the fries are killer. They just need to offer malt vinegar for those spuds and that will be the Sauce Trifecta. Wash your hands well before you arrive, ‘cuz Sauce’s fare is finger lickin’ good.

Great value. Quality of food vs. Price is excellent! A tiny storefront restaurant with about six tables. Burgers, fries and wings. Went with the kids. Burgers were made to order. All were cooked perfect, including my medium rare. Order at counter and take a seat. Fries were sizzling when they came out. $ 2 beers. How can you go wrong!

Dropped in with a friend on a Friday evening around 7 p for a «snack». We had a late lunch and in the mood for some«good» fries. My friend had been here before and raved about the hand cut fries and wanted me to try them. There was only one indoor table available so we snagged it right away. We decided on 5 wings with the pirate style sauce, fries and cole slaw. I waited in line behind one person to order and it seemed to take a while? There were about 4 – 5 people working in the kitchen and after placing our order, it took about another 15 – 20 minutes or so before my name was called indicating our order was ready. Wings were great, crispy, hot and spicy. Cole slaw was very good but fries were soggy and disappointing. My friend was highly disappointed too as it was only her 2nd time here and she had a great experience the first time. We ran into another friend at this visit and they also reported soggy fries that night. :-(We’ll give it another try, maybe just a bad night.

Average food, less than adequate service(at least at the weekends). The staff spend more time talking to each other than with the customer. The place is expensive for what it is. Best to eat in, because guaranteed the food will get cold by the time you get it home.

So nice to have a gluten free option of wings! My entire family enjoyed them and couldn’t even tell they’re gluten free, they’re just delicious! The staff was very knowledgeable and fast.

We love Sauce! We’ve now dined on their burgers and fries at least a half dozen times and have NEVER been disappointed. My wife loves the ‘Mullet’ burger and I’m head-over-heels for the ‘Three B’s’ burger. Cooked while you wait(and service is fast, fast, fast), they are to doe for — and the fries are our of this world. What makes Sauce even better is the service. Nice and friendly. We’ll be back… maybe even tonight!!!

My wife loves wings and I love burgers and fries so Sauce is a win-win. Yes, it’s small and yes it’s a rather Spartan design but we are not looking for white tablecloth service in a burger and wing joint. Love the burgers, love the fries and love the wings. I’ve eaten in and ordered delivery and always received friendly service. Forget about the other places claiming they have the best burgers-Sauce is the best around in my book.

If you ask the all cool kids in Andover where they want to get their takeout from, they’ll tell you«Sauce.» This little hole-in-the-wall place by Andolini’s on Essex street doesn’t look like much on the outside but this is THE place for wings in town. Running some errands that kept me busy during the day, I ended up here at around 2 pm looking to grab a well-balanced meal. And by well-balanced I mean some wings and cole slaw. The slaw is deliciously crisp and not too wet(a big plus in my book). It’s not the absolutely most flavorful slaw I’ve had but it was pleasantly seasoned and I ate it with gusto. It certainly serves as a great side! The sauce menu for the wings is quite large but they also have a few other options if those aren’t quite your style. I got the wings with one of the sauces that’s not on the official menu because I was hoping for something that would not be too spicy. The guy at the counter was extremely helpful and quick to produce the wings. The wings were awesome and kind of crispy but tender at the same time. If you’re coming here on a date, make sure that your date is ok seeing you with sauce all over your face because that is inevitably what will happen. These wings are so good you’ll eat them so quickly there will be sauce everywhere. Luckily, there are these awesome napkin dispensers(I don’t know why they work so well but seriously, at a place like this the little things count) that make cleaning up pretty easy(you’ll still end up using a bunch of napkins unless I’m just a noob at wings). I will come back here for sure!

Moving from 3 to 5 stars well within striking distance here. We went pretty straightforward last night(takeout)…15 pcs of buffalo man wings, a full rack of bbq ribs, and a quart of coleslaw. Wings were undercooked, chewy not crispy. Ribs were drenched/caked with ultra-sweet bbq sauce, and a bit«grissley» as a below photo shows. Just cook the wings a bit more and back off on the bbq sauce and you’re golden! adding celery and carrot sticks to the menu will secure that 5th star. Coleslaw is awesome fresh cut with a divine mayo-based sauce. Is that a cayenne kick I detect? This above aside, these guys have a nice little business on their hands. Looks like they know their local market, know how to leverage a limited menu, and churn out decent quality food. Looking forward to my next visit. * One more thing based on a prior visit and as mentioned in several other review… the burgers are great but need the benefit of a mere 3 – 4 oz. of additional beef to make them stand up to all the great toppings and to ensure one doesn’t leave hungry. Make it 4 oz and I’ll pay an additional $ 1.50. seems fair. deal?

This is the easiest review I have ever written. If you are reading this, and you aren’t here eting wings, fries, and burgers… you are screwing up. Stop wasting time, and come here!

Was in the mood for buffalo wings so did a search for exactly that on Google. The first item that came up was Sauce in Andover. The Unilocal reviews were good so I figured, why not. The place is small with a limited menu, wings, burgers and ribs. As I have come to find with such a limited menu, what they do, they do very well, with the wings anyway. I ordered the Buffalo Man boneless wings which were a mild heat. The wings had a nice crunch too them and the sauce was good in flavor. Not very hot but you knew it was a buffalo sauce. They came with a side of blue cheese to dip in which was also good, though a bit more sauce and blue cheese would have been nice. You can order an extra side of sauce but there is a cost. I also ordered the«one size fits all» fries. The fries were good, though for a single person, there is bound to be left overs. They are great if you are to share among a couple of people. Overall I was impressed and will be back

I’m a wing junky… This place doesn’t have a big menu and I was underwhelmed with the wings. They were meaty but lacked texture. Blue cheese dressing is meh. The burger, however, is pretty good! Boursin bacon buffalo is a unique burger that I would highly suggest trying. Decent music playing while I was there. The place is small and the tvs there are a little intrusive if you are trying to hold down a conversation.

Wings boneless were not that good. Honestly they tasted like popcorn. Gross combination for chicken. First they gave my order to the wrong person. I went here based on feedback from my class. Not impressed. No silverware or napkins with my takeout. Priced fairly but lacking quality. If they can nail the basics like silverware maybe I’ll try them again but so far seems too risky.

Stopped by sauce after searching«wings nearby» on Unilocal.Small unborn glitter placeX a few tables inside, a few outside. I tried the Buffalo Grandpa & Pirate Style sauces, 5 wings each and an order of fries. The driest were hand cut and tasty and while I applaud the«one size fits all» portion for a more than reasonable price of $ 2.99, it was entirely too much for me. I threw away ¾ of them. The Buffalo Grandpa(Habanero Buffalo) was tasty, sweet with the right amount of heat. It was a little thin for my liking but it was tasty. The Pirate Style(Jamaican Jerk), which I was warned was«hot» really wasn’t hot at all but was EXTREMELY salty and unenjoyable. I tried even drowning them in ranch(not the best ranch either) and it didn’t help. I only ate the of them. Overall, all of the wings could’ve used another 2 – 4 minutes in the fryer. They were fully cooked by all means but I like a nice crispy skin and there was nothing crispy about these. All in all, 10 wings, enough fries to feed an army, and a can of soda was $ 16, not too too bad but I would’ve been more satisfied with the pricing had I enjoyed my meal more.

Sauce has some great tasting food! The huge variety of burgers make it possible to have a new delicious experience each time. I’ve been four times with my girlfriend and we’ve had a different burger each time; awesome all four times! Their wings are also very tasty, we usually get some of those too; buffalo is great, so are their other sauces. Only negative is that the seats outside aren’t all that comfortable and the location isn’t great. Don’t let that deter you though. Sauce’s food is more than worth it!

The only way I found out about this place was because a scrappy receiver that gets open at will was tweeting about the burger that they had named in his honor. So Sauce thank Julian Edelman for putting you on the map. The place is small. I thought it would be a little bigger but it is about 4 tables and your order station with the kitchen right behind. The space is inviting and the guy taking my order was very nice. I figured this might be my only shot so I wanted to try two different wings sauces. I ordered the regular buffalo and the mustard sauce. The regular was great a solid amount of heat but not painful, the mustard was coated in a creamy/tangy/sweet North Carolina style mustard sauce. Two orders of 5 wings each and a can of yuengling set me back 13 bucks which is not bad at. The location is down a little side street I believe off of main st. in Andover. Parking it street only. If you are in the Andover needing a quick bite you can’t do much better.

The food is great and I was looking for a surrogate for«Wings Over» since I moved to Andover. Unfortunately they messed up my online order. I called 20 minutes after the eta and the guy on the phone said they didn’t get my order. Interesting. Their online system Zuppler showed that they had received the order. The guy on the phone said they would start cooking my order and that the delivery fee could not be refunded. He blamed it on the system — not the restaurant. I drove to the restaurant and the guy behind the counter said he would cancel the online order and start on a new order but he would not comp me anything. Not even a coupon? I cancelled the old order and said don’t bother on the new one. I wonder if he remembers me asking about platters last time I was there. I won’t be using them for a party I had planned in the near future. Or for anything else for that matter. Too bad.

An update: After the owner contacted me directly to apologize for the poor service –no excuses just a legit apology which I truly respected — I gave SAUCE another go. Ordered online and this time food showed up earlier than expected! The«reuben» burger was a gem, just enough thousand island dressing and the cole slaw was perfectly crispy/crunchy and not runny with mayo. I think Sauce’s secret is that as good as the wings are, their burgers are their real star. Also tried an order of wings split two ways — the Soy Orange Glaze was nice, just the right combo of sweet/sour and the Buffalo wings were very good and nicely well done. Anyway 4 stars, for a great burger, very good wings, quick service, and an owner that cares about his customers! Just make sure they include the blue cheese dressing for dipping!

This place did not meet my expectations for spicy food. I’m increasing my rating to make it less biased since I was a bit angry that day when I wrote my initial review. I’m not an expert on wings, maybe I should become one actually, but their granpa habanero sauce was not nearly as spicy as they said it would be. They wrote«no refunds» next to it, so I was expecting something that would whoop my ass, but instead I felt it wasn’t spicy at all, and probably not even for a white person. I also tried the soy orange glaze sauce on my wings and it tasted like bbq sauce, but mostly like plain chicken. C’mon, if you’re gonna call yourself«sauce» GIMMESOMEFUCKINSAUCEBITCH. I’ll come back here for a burger and update this review.

Good. Not great… Burgers were too well done for my liking, got the triple b burger with boursin and bacon. Buffalo sauce was a nice touch. Homemade fries were good and crispy. Wings were plump but the soy orange sauce was kinda rough… Tasted burnt. Fresh buns were good but the sandwiches were literally a hair bigger than sliders… Very small.
