The only reason why this place wouldn’t get five stars is disappointed expectations. This is a well loved place by the locals. There are a lot of really narcissistic people in Alaska so its good to keep things in perspective. The place is a bit painful on the wallet though.

Beautiful summer spot in downtown Anchorage. On a clear day, you can see Denali from the deck. I went for a light lunch and had the best salmon cakes I’ve ever had! It was paired with a delicious wine. Altogether, a lovely way to spend a day!

Dined at Snow Goose during my first trip to Anchorage & I will definitely be back. View is fairly nice, overlooks the water and they have an outside deck for dining as well. Although the food was delicious, what really impressed me was the friendly service. I sat down, and wasn’t too sure of what beer I wanted to try(since it was a brewery I was unfamiliar with). Dion my amazing server brought by about 5 different glasses for me to sample and explained each different brew. As we were talking I explained I was visiting from«the lower 48» and wanted to find some fun things to do. He told me about nerd nite, which is an open forum style event with guest speakers, and most importantly… beer. Nerd nite was a total blast & the people who put it on are hilarious. What truly topped off a great night spent there is that Dion stopped me before I left and gave me a few handouts of events going on during my trip along with a note explaining further. This place was super amazing & I would definitely recommend it.

The locals WOULD show it off… if they could. Your location is SUPERB. Your brewskies are delicious. You offer one of the most fantastic, beautiful views that the city has to offer… but you are killing your profits with boring, sub-par food that is lacking any flavor, and HORRIBLE service. How do you make it through the long cold winters? I am REALLY sorry to write a bad review but you guys need to get your crap together. This place«could» be amazing. «Could» be the best in Anchorage. You guys are missing the boat and the paycheck. This should be your wake up call. This place should be packed all summer long. Hire an expert foodie and change your menu or the Chef.

I had to write a review solely based on their root beer. Holy moly, that stuff is good. Super creamy finish that haunts your soda dreams. Make sure to get yourself a sample! I hope next time I visit, they decide to bottle it. When I visited(September ’15) they only offered to fill growlers, which was unfortunately too cumbersome for my flight home. Thanks!

My friends and I were in town for the Moose’s Tooth Marathon. This was our second stop on our impromptu pub crawl. The dining area on the ground floor looked closed, so we went upstairs and got a table near that ring toss thingy. It was almost 4 pm and I hadn’t eaten lunch yet, so I ordered their reindeer burger. Back in California, you don’t see that on the menu. I’m always game for trying something new or local. I first started with their«Fish On» IPA on tap. I finished off the burger with their Braveheart Scottish Ale. Overall the service was decent, but it was a time hard to flag down our server who was also tending the bar. *Snow Goose«Fish On» IPA* Tastes of orange. Not overly hoppy. Not bad. *Reindeer Burger* It was an Indian Valley free-range fresh ground burger, seared and served on a brioche bun with mayo, grilled onions, and Swiss cheese. The patty could have been made of beef. I was hungry and couldn’t tell the difference. It was a good burger. I didn’t like the fries, they were too crispy. *Snow Goose Braveheart Scottish Ale* I liked this one. It had a malty and scotch taste to it. It wasn’t too strong, so it was easy to drink.

I stopped here in the hopes of getting dinner and some beer. I was a little wary based on previous Unilocal reviews complaining about the service. My server was good. But not minutes after I sat down I heard another server say«eight waters all day,» which was basically him complaining about his guests not ordering drinks, bumping up the tab, and making him more tips. Servers make these sorts of complaints. Doing it within earshot of guests is unacceptable. This place has two major problems. People come for the view, so some of them aren’t interested in spending money. Meanwhile, the beer is outrageously priced. It was the most expensive beer I had in Anchorage, nearly double other brewpubs. This means people don’t want to hang out and drink, and draws more customers that don’t want to hang and have a few beers. It’s a bad cycle that the restaurant could correct if they charged a reasonable price for beer. It seems like they’re trying to make up for the small checks by gouging on their signature item. The ambiance upstairs was pretty bad, too. Dark in the back, no attractive bar seating, and really nowhere for a single walk-in like myself to go and feel comfortable. This is ridiculously negligent for a place advertising itself as a beer joint. This bad design and management left me skeptical of the food, and the menu descriptions didn’t raise my enthusiasm. I did have a bowl of chowder, which was great. But I wasn’t encouraged to hang out longer and try anything else. The beer was decent or I might have dropped it to two stars. One star alone comes for the view.

This place was awesome, myself and 5 of my friends, choose a table on the upstairs patio overlooking the Sleeping lady! It was BEAUTIFUL! Waiter was confused at times but he was cool. Check this place out and have a beer w a cool view.

First night in Anchorage found this place a short walk from our hotel. Great outdoor seating to enjoy the weather and the view. Lots of interesting brew choices and caribou meatloaf was excellent. Casual atmosphere says everyone is welcome.

Manager instructed hostesses to not seat our party of 5 after they already were walking us to a table. Said directly in front of us to never give up a table that is reserved for 7 to a party of 5. He then turned his back and walked away with no help to be offered. Hostess walked us back to waiting area. Wasn’t handled with tact.

Much better seafood in many more places around town. They brag about their view, but you can get an equivalent view facing east on 4th… just big mountains. (Not saying mountains are bad, I love them, but you cant have that be your focal point if you can get a similar view all over town)

One of the better all around restaurants I’ve been to in my month in Anchorage. Great beers. The seafood chowder was awesome. The honey glazed salmon was the best salmon since I’ve been here, much better than the high brow places here. Food tasted very fresh. On top of that you have a great view. Very local, comfortable place.

I would have given them 2 stars two years ago(the last time I ate here). It used to be a poor value with expensive, uninspired dishes. The only thing it had back then was the Best View in Town. However, several friends the past few months have exclaimed with pleasant surprise how good their food is now. With new management & new Exec Chef since the last time we dined, we gave it a spin. Yesterday we stopped in and all three levels of the joint were busy. Bagpipes on main level was fun. We ended up on the top floor where some folk musicians were playing for some casual dancers. There were a couple tables open, but about 30 people standing watching the dancing. The staff was attentive, friendly, and the food & drinks still came out in 10 minutes. Recommended a good beer pairing, too. Fish & chips– great(needed more tartar sauce– it’s a lot of fish) Reindeer burger– really flavorful & the bun had a nice charred brand on it Fries– good Beer– good Cheese sauce with pretzels— a must. Best cheese sauce. It’s pub food and done really well. Looking forward to trying their more fine dining items on next visit. Heard soups are good.

The restaurant is a little nondescript from the outside(you enter a mall area to get to the entrance) and the sign is small so if not for our cabby, we might not have found this place. Our service was a bit slow, but our server was friendly and got our order correct. The reindeer burger was very good. Not that I liked the idea of eating reindeer, but I guess they are as common as deer or elk and are considered a normal meat to eat. When in Rome… The prices were a little steep, but then, everything is spendy in Anchorage. At least the portions are large. They had a nice selection of beers so we got 2 large seasonal ales to wash down our fries. Anchorage has a street map of restaurants, and this was one of 4 or 5 places our tour guide circled — solely for the reindeer. If you have a bucket list of delicacies and foods to try, this is a place you will want to visit.

After 2 visits, I had to speak out… Amazing!!!(is that enough?) Both times I was at the pub in the 2nd floor, and both times my experience was amazing. The servers, and my 2 visits were 3 months apart, were soo friendly, helpful and professional. The beer selection here at the Sleeping Lady Brewery is great, both tap and bottle. The food is great! Seafood Chowder, Salmon entry(wild salmon), and the caribou meatloaf!!! All great. Beers… Braveheart is dark and yummy, the cask IPA is amazing, the Fish On IPA is a must try if you like hoppy beers!

The best thing about this place is the presence of two decks, which provide great views. My friends and I came during Happy Hour(4pm to 6pm and 10pm to close in the pub or deck). I only tried the salmon cakes off the happy hour menu, which were pretty good. The pub nachos were even better and I got full from them. I also had the crème brulee. I liked that it had blueberries in it, but it was a bit runny. Snow Goose is a brewery too for those who want to grab a drink.

This is an awesome place to grab a drink with a view! It’s the perfect spot during the summer time because of their large outdoor patio. The patio does get packed fairly quickly. Food is decent. Their salmon crab cakes are a must try! They have happy hour from 3 – 6, and the crab cakes are only $ 6! Their burgers are pretty good as well. Service here could be better. Sometimes they’re slow at returning to the table or checking to see if you need another drink. I also tried making a reservation for 20 people last month but they turned me down! I was surprised that they did that to be honest. They have a lot of space & who says no to money?!

After tonight’s experience, it’s time for a review. I’ve lived here in Anchorage for about 10 years now and I’ve frequented the Snow Goose for shows, to meet up with friends on the their beautiful deck and to take visitors for lunch or dinner there. Much to our disappointment my girlfriend and I were not able to snag a table out on the deck because they were so extremely busy. It is about start of tourist season so we weren’t surprised even though we were a bit bummed. The approximate wait for a regular table was about an hour. We waited and were seated in about 40 minutes. Our waiter’s name Nolan and he was so sweet. We shared the hummus plate which comes with cucumbers, kalamata olives, grape tomatoes and feta cheese along with toasted pita. It was delicious. I had their CIOPPINO” ALASKANSTYLE. It is their take on the classic, of wild Alaskan salmon, cod, clams, king crab, potatoes and spinach simmered in a tomato-fennel broth with their Parmesan garlic bread. It was amazing. My girlfriend had their fish tacos and she loved it. Love snow goose. Love their beers. Love their food. I recommend it.

My friend and I found Snow Goose for a quick dinner before heading to the airport, and I was glad we did! A couple of their delicious beers on the sun deck with lovely views over Anchorage were a nice way to wind down our adventure. Snow Goose is a big restaurant-brewery with a nice inside space and an even better outside space to have an interesting lunch or dinner. I had a burger which was a fine choice, and the menu presents other interesting items like salads, sandwiches, meat dishes, etc. They brew a number of interesting beers too which could be worth a stop alone. Service was fast and friendly, and the price point is reasonable for Anchorage. The big draw, of course, is the open air seating and great views! Overall, Snow Goose is a recommended stop in the area for a meal with atmosphere!

This is a pretty spacious place right on the water. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, and a bar area upstairs. The beer is tasty, with several unique offerings. I could easily have sat here and had a sampler size of every beer they offer. The menu is alright. I opted for the reindeer burger and was quite pleased. It was a tasty burger that was perfectly cooked. The service could’ve been better. Very friendly and nice, but not exactly attentive. All in all, this is a great spot for some beer. I’ll be back.
