Great place to eat. Staff very friendly and the food was served quickly. I really enjoyed the open seating, just find a place to sit and within a few minutes our waitress was there taking drink orders. Recommend the salmon dip, they smoke all their own salmon out back. We’ll be coming here again!

Traveler through anchorage 10x a year looking for a nice place to eat, tried Humpys at 5pm on a Monday, very few other diners here, Service was quick and efficient, nice list of beers with notes on which are local, which I found very helpful as always looking to taste local brews, very nice beer variety, would guess over 50 beers on tap with a great many locals, the reason I could only give 3 stars was the food, the halibut & chips was dry and bland, the fries were frozen, not bad but not great, the real disappointment was fresh Alaska oysters which were horribly mushy, overall the place is dark, I thought they were closed when I walked up, there were many TVs that were well located, overall I will be back, but will try a burger next time Been back tried cod burger, it was good service again very good changing to 4 stars

First of all keep in mind this isn’t fine dining. What they do is offer good good, a reasonable price, excellent beer selection and an enjoyable environment. The outdoor seating area late into the summer evening was great.

Humpy’s has never let me down. I’m a regular if I’ve got a decent length layover in Anchorage. Nice folks, easy ordering, good bar atmosphere. No complaints here.

I have two reviews for this place. The morning shift crew was awesome, very friendly and quick. The food was delicious. The night crew was AWFUL!!! The door man was rude, our waiter came to the table maybe twice and never checked back after or he would’ve realize half the order was wrong. The manager was probably the worst out of them all, he should definitely not be in the customer service industry. I realize it is very busy and fast passed but if you can’t handle that and still be polite to the customers you should find another job.

It’s a neat place with a great atmosphere. The staff was friendly, service was fast, and food was great! I’m going to have to stop back again soon so that I can try more off their menu! Everything sounded so good. They also have a large selection of locally brewed beers. Great place to stop to catch a game or some live music too!

Humpy’s was a great place to just chill and have some drinks but. I had a feeling we were not very welcomed. We arrived around 12:00 a.m. and were already a bit buzzed from our last bar. We were a bit loud but. hey! it’s a bar. I think the staff was not too fond of the noise we were making. What definitely disappointed me was when we tried to order shots for our group. We place the order and they would not serve it to us. What the hell?! Do you not want our money? That was when we felt we should go somewhere else. The worst part was, as we were leaving, a member of our party decided to stay because she wanted to hang out with another group. The staff confronted us and demanded her to leave with the rest of the party because she was«too drunk». We were definatelly not happy. The bar drink selection was overall decent but I did not like the hospitality or the environment. Try another place if plan on getting a bit loud.

So many people in Alaska genuinely love this place. I’m a fan– I am, but contrary to everyone gushing about the fantastic menu, I’ve never been too amazed by the food here. I come for the talented local musicians and the generally calm and fun atmosphere. They have trivia every Tuesday and although the questions are challenging, there are a few local teams that seem to loyally attend– making it a really fun, competitive environment for people who love to wrack their brains. This place is kind of a pub, kind of an eatery. They serve alcohol and have bar seating– but they also have booths. In the back there is a stage where they often feature local small hometown musicians. They seem to welcome anyone who can sing or play to perform, so you’ll get a mix of all styles of musicians during their open mic nights. I always have such a blast during their music events. There are so many undiscovered and yet SO talented people here in Alaska. They’re worth stopping in and supporting. And I love that Humpy’s welcomes them to play. The lighting is pretty dim, but they also have large windows and they seem to rely a lot on natural lighting in the summertime(in the back, where I typically sit anyways). There is ample seating but this place is ALWAYS crowded. Even so, it’s kept very clean and always seems to be well-staffed. I’ve had mixed experiences with the staff here. Sometimes I’ll get a really friendly server– other times they just seem exhausted(usually later in the day, and I’m assuming it’s their second job and they’re honestly just really tired from working). It’s hit or miss with the waiters here. You can either get a really awesome one, or a really crappy one. All of them keep the drinks rolling, though and try to serve your food relatively fast. Most won’t stop by your table super frequently and will only check-up when you’ve finished your food or drink and they need to address you to order more or close out. The noise level can get a bit loud– especially when they have live music playing or big games being featured on their TVs. Even on a calm night this place can get pretty noisy– mainly because it’s crowded. This isn’t a bad thing, I just wouldn’t recommend it for people who want to have a nice quiet conversation. They have a pretty decent beer selection, and their food is typical ‘pub/diner’ options. Burgers seem to be their biggest focus. They pack on a lot of meat and thick bread– and all of the necessary lettuce, tomato, and onion toppings. My burgers have always been well-cooked and exactly what I ordered. With that being said, I’ve just never been blown away by the food here. They have decent options, but nothing that gets me craving to go back. Their food is just ‘okay’. It’s not bad– but if it weren’t for the live music and trivia nights I probably wouldn’t go back here just to eat.

Great food, good staff! I would definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting out of town and for locals. Their fish and chips are always good, and their brunch is amazing along with the bloody mary bar. Their crab cake Benedict is one of my top favorites. I would just say that the bloody mary bar bacon could be less fatty since it’s left out on the table. Get there ahead of time to find seating if you are going during busy meal times as you have to seat yourself.

Oh, Humpy’s. You will be missed! For the last 3 years I’ve been a consistent patron of Humpy’s and I am truly going to miss their food. Their bacon burgers are a contender for the best in town and their fries and tartar are equally delicious. The place has a dive bar feel to it but people definitely go there for the food. That’s not to say that they are not known for their impressive beer selection though! I don’t know how many beers they have on tap but it is sure to impress even most snobby of beer enthusiasts. The only caveat is that it is on the pricey side as is every restaurant in AK. Another bonus Is on weekends they serve breakfast and it’s really good. Used to go in and watch Sunday football and get the Fisherman’s Breakfast. Bartenders and servers are usually very helpful and attentive. Ive only had a few negative experiences there that i will attribute to a server being in a bad mood and a new cook(burger was dry on 2 occasions). Other than that my trips to Humpy’s have been great. I don’t hand out five stars often but Humpy’s has won me over with their delicious food, friendly staff and good times over the last 3 years! Great place to go on a Friday or Saturday night as it gets busy and has an energetic and safe atmosphere without feeling like you’re going to get stabbed by a drunk! Give Humpy’s a try! PS: Get the Calamari appetizer. It’s amazing!

Had their fish tacos, not impressed at all; coming from the fish taco capital of the nation, the tacos were actually quite offensive even. The bf, had a hamburger, which he was satisfied with, but it seemed pretty basic to me. The next time we went he had the same I think and I declined to gamble again with those prices, so I didn’t eat at all… Where this place doesn’t fall short on is the atmosphere when it’s packed. Trivia night is fun and they do sell pitchers…

FINALLY my husband took me to Humpy’s! I’ve now been several times, and I love it every time! There is a huge bar that wraps around the inside of the place, and sitting at the bar is really fun. It’s a busy place, so there is a lot going on. People watching is fabulous here — the bartenders are generally entertaining, and the clientele is fun to watch, too. They have a ton of beers to choose from as well as a full bar. The place is decorated with tap handles — never seen so many! It’s fun to find new ones each time we go. Although I like the same place at the bar, it’s fun to sit in new sections just to see new stuff. The food is tremendously tasty. Halibut made pretty much any way you can think of, but why would you order anything but the halibut fish and chips??? Just awesome… The reindeer burger is also darn tasty. There is nothing bad about this place, except when it is so full you have to wait for a table. Even then — worth it. Make sure to ask — how do you make a duck fart???

Good food, plentiful ale & great service– that’s what these Pennsylvanians found at Humpy’s. The Salmon Chowder was the best ever — a meal in itself and absolutely loaded with salmon + flavor. Friend(a Humpy’s alumni) always gets the crab roll and declared it the best in the land. Not just bar food… UBER bar food!

Save your appetite for some awesome food and super service from Humpy’s! Walk in seat yourself, share your table, make new friends! With a huge line up of beers on tap and my favorite Glacier Rootbeer on Tap you can’t go wrong. Yeah it’s loud at dinner, can’t imagine when there’s a game on. Seven large lcd panels to watch your favorite game. Bar style tables and stools. Live music after 9pm. Saturday night in downtown Anchorage. Get Courtney to help you decide what beer. Get a side of king crab legs! You won’t be disappointed. Last, get a homemade bread pudding with whiskey sauce.

The funny thing about Humpy’s is that a local friend recommended that we go here for the halibut tacos and to enjoy the patio(it was 83 degrees that day). As we were walking down the street we were wondering if maybe they’d have the Blackhawks on and there it was — two fans standing out front with their jerseys on. We then knew this was the perfect place. What I didn’t realize is what this was a bar. I was imagining more of a taco joint… under the circumstances, we were overjoyed to see the final game of the Cup on and sitting inside suddenly took a precedence over the perfect day outside. But perfect to us were halibut tacos, Alaskan White, and the Blackhawks winning the Cup! In all seriousness, the tacos were absolutely outstanding. I thought the price was a bit high but I figured the tacos must be pretty big and they were. Three between the two of us but a couple glasses of beer did the trick. And it was great to be surrounded by locals and getting a real feel of what Anchorage is all about… or at least a little bit of what it’s about! ;)

Humpy’s is probably one of the most-known eateries in the little big city of Anchorage. Everyone we talked to has heard of this alehouse. Great seafood, fun atmosphere, but high prices — that’s what everyone said. We came by for lunch on what happened to be the restaurant’s 21st birthday/anniversary so certain menu items were set at the prices they were 21 years ago! After walking around for a bit(the dining area is «seat yourself»), we finally found a small table tucked in the back corner. The large TV screens above us each had different sports playing and old beer tap handles line what seemed like the whole restaurant. The place was packed and our poor waitress had a hell of a time getting back to our table(she made it, even with a tray full of our drinks). Sticking to the cheaper birthday menu insert, we got the Alaskan smoked salmon spread(Alaskan red salmon smoked in-house with a blend of spices and French bread) to start. The spread was served chilled and covered in grated cheese(unmelted obviously). The bread ran out pretty quick, but the spread was so good we resorted to just using our forks instead of paying for more bread. For my main dish I got the Humpy’s halibut tacos(two soft tacos«stuffed» with ale-marinated halibut, spicy black beans, jack cheese, salsa, jalapeño relish, shredded cabbage, sour cream, and guacamole). Notice I put the word stuffed in quotes. The halibut was barely noticeable under the mountain of cabbage conveniently covering the small scoop of marinated fish. The tortillas were plain and probably straight from a bag without even the courtesy toss on the grill. Listed at a normal price of $ 20.99 on the lunch menu, they hardly seem worth it. Thankfully the anniversary menu had them at a much more appropriate $ 8.95. For dessert we landed on the berry crisp(served warm with vanilla ice cream). This was definitely the highlight of the meal. The outer crust had a slight crunch while the inside was warm and rich with a generous berry-to-sugar ratio. The halibut tacos were somewhat disappointing but the salmon spread and berry crisp helped bump up the star rating. We totally lucked out by coming on a discount weekend, so the«…but high prices» from everyone’s stories didn’t apply to us. But honestly, I would come back even if only to get dessert!

I’ve been here a couple times since this review. Why would I come back? This place has some of the best taps in town. Service has been quite a bit better in subsequent trips. It seems like the service is better when it’s busy. Tourist season has actually increased the quality of service here. I usually come just from the beer, I’m still not really blown away by the food. This place can also be a lot of fun on weekends if you’re in the mood for a loud band and rowdy, dancing crowd. You’ll see stag/hen parties, tourists, and locals all having a great time together. Beer prices are also not INSANE($ 7/pint) yet, like they are at SOME downtown places…

I have been eating at Humpy’s for a few years, and my partner and I always enjoy it. Is it a tourist trap? Kind of. Does the fact that I can’t find a view in the place that doesn’t include a television bother me? Yes, but it’s a bar, and people like TVs at bars. We generally hit Humpy’s when we are in the mood for a particular kind of food – bar/seafood. We haven’t ventured out to try different dishes like the pasta or the specials, partly because I don’t have high hopes for them but mainly because I go there looking for a fix of my preferred standards. We generally order the same things – the king crab nuggets, the fish and chips, and my personal favorite, the crab roll seafood sandwich that they call their version of the lobster roll. It’s really scrumptious. I wish they hadn’t switched the bread to Texas toast instead of the original baguette, simply because it makes it feel even heavier, but I still really dig it. Overall, the food we’ve tried tastes consistently good and fresh. My partner likes their beer selection, and it seems like a big one. I would appreciate a better wine selection, but it’s not really that kind of bar. They do a decent mixed drink, though their lemondrop martini isn’t as good as places that specialize more in cocktails. Humpy’s also has a great brunch – standard fare like eggs benedict, my usual go-to. And any service I’ve had there has been friendly and pretty fast, so no complaints there. When it’s sunny out, sitting on the back patio is a nice treat. We’re always glad to have this restaurant as an option on our going out list.
