The reason for this 5 star review is because the server went above and beyond in helping my son(gluten and dairy free) find something on the menu. We ended up coming up with something that wasn’t even on the menu. The waiter was on point, super friendly and communicated with us very well. After my sons food was made the waiter came and told us that the cook accidentally put the fish on the fries(fries have a flour batter) — so he had them re make it. He came back a couple time specifically to see if my son liked the food — my son loved it! Anyway a lot of restaurants roll their eyes when you say«do you have gluten free stuff» not this one. Bill was 60 and we gave him a $ 45 dollar tip.

I have frequented this establishment several times growing up here in Anchorage. The food is always amazing and I absolutely love the fact that you can drink beer and have food brought to you during the movie! The Restaurant part of the building is also just as fantastic!

Better cooks than Moose’s tooth and the waiter had quite the sense of humor. A good stop to make if you plan on visiting Alaska

It’s about time I wrote a review. Bear Tooth has two parts, the theater and the grill. Each has their own unique flare while keeping with the Bear Tooth theme. Bear Tooth Theater: Great pizzas, salads and wraps. Their pizzas are always fresh and they don’t skimp on the toppings. You can’t go wrong with a pizza, anything you get will delight your taste buds. They even have whole wheat and gluten free crust! Favorite pizzas: Thai Chicken, Avalanche, Solstice and Apricot Chicken. Favorite salads: Mandarin Chicken, Sweet Basil, Caesar You can watch a movie($ 4) while eating delicious food! Sometimes it takes a little longer to get your food in the theater. Just be patient. The dinning area on the theater side is small but you can usually get a table. Bear Tooth Grill What I’ll describe as AK-Mex. Forget Tex-Mex! You’ll find great salads, tacos and Mexican inspired entrees. The food is always fresh and a delight every time. They have awesome burgers and you must try the garlic cilantro fries! A few Favorites Tri-Salsa Yucatán Lime chicken soup Pork Tamales

Bear Tooth Grill changed their calamari from rings to strips. While the strips were cooked well, the sauce was nothing special – surprisingly disappointing for a flavorful restaurant. An aioli base would taste better. I write this because I am a fried calamari connoisseur. I will not be ordering this again. Please bring back the previous calamari style but easy on the garlic.

I have been here for dinner several times. The drinks and food are amazing! The service is spot on, and the environment is welcoming. Come here for a good time. I like to eat in the restaurant area, the food is the best in there.

Bear Tooth Theater Pub or simply«Bear Tooth» as it is known was one of the first restaurants in the nation to model the theater pub experience in which food was served while being able to catch a show. Sister restaurant to Anchorage’s notorious and ever beloved Moose’s Tooth, Bear Tooth is actually three restaurants in one. 1. The theater pub as was mentioned. 2. The Bear Tooth Grill which is a slightly more upscale restaurant and 3. The Bear Tooth Theater Pub café. A seat yourself casual environment that shares the same menu as the theater pub. Bear Tooth took over the old dollar Denali Theater location during the late 90s. The first restaurant in the family(Moose’s Tooth) was actually started by a couple of friends who had never actually worked in a restaurant. They just knew they liked beer and the rest they say is history. Beer plays a big part in all of the businesses and in fact houses the third business in this family — Broken Tooth Brewing. Which still all these years later remains a popular part amongst its customers. Though I am not able to make it to the theater as much as I like, I do enjoy the Bear Tooth experience. They also offer monthly concerts known as 1st Tap which books national acts. Additionally they upgraded the stage and screen to 3D digital several years ago. From a food experience Bear Tooth offers pizzas similar to Moose’s Tooth but have also branched into other offerings like burritos, tacos, salads, appetizers and homemade desserts in lieu of the traditional movie offerings of popcorn and candy. The Grill offers a full service bar and daily specials and slightly revamped version of the café menu. Some of my favorites are their southwestern burger as well as their southwestern rice bowl which includes blackened chicken with house made tortilla chips. On the pizza side one of my favorites always will be Santa’s Little Helper. The only thing I have tried on the menu that I really wasn’t crazy about was the taco salad from the Grill. I actually found it quite bland. Today I happened to be meeting a friend to celebrate«National Pizza Day» so decided to meet at Bear Tooth Café for lunch. Given my lunch companion was gluten sensitive I suggested we try the gluten free crust, which I had never had before. For starters we both had the ranch salad which includes salad greens, ranch, bacon, and salsa fresca and cheddar cheese. We decided to put the gluten free crust to the test with the Santa’s Little Helper which includes blackened chicken, steak, bacon, red peppers, cilantro and mozzarella and provolone. When it arrived I noted the crust looked much like a cracker thin crust I so love from another local establishment. It was crispy/crunch and not overdone. Definite thumbs up from me and I will definitely be ordering the gluten free crust in the future. Bear Tooth is also particularly known for its scratch margaritas. The staff I have encountered during my times there always seem to be very friendly. They actually seem like a large family. Good food, good venue for movies and live music. What more could one really ask? Definite thumbs up.

$ 4 movies and they bring you pizza and beer? Seriously the best idea ever. The pizza is amazing and they have a lot of local brews on tap. They play movies that aren’t necessarily old, but probably just left other theaters or came out on dvd. Try to reserve a booth online if you know you’re coming at a prime time. Weekends for evening showings the line will be out the door starting like an hour before the start time. I love this place! Will definitely be back again and again.

If you want to eat some good food AND watch a movie on the cheap, this is the place for you. Also, there’s a bar inside the theater!!! INSIDE the theater!!! Damn good deal!!!

Can’t ever go wrong with Bear’s Tooth. I know some of the recipes are the same at Moose’s tooth but my favorite is the Thai pizza and it’s so much better here! I’ve been going here for over 10 years & when I order something It tastes the same every time! Plus you can watch a movie & eat delicious food at the same time! Can’t go wrong there!

They should lose a star due to the 50 minute wait time for our food, BUT I can’t dock it, as it is 5 stars to me! They play older movies and Th tickets are way less expensive than a theater that plays new movies. We came for Elf that they played for Christmas, and it was my first time seeing it. I love that you can order amazing food and they’ll bring it to your table in the theater. They also have a bar with an amazing, albeit small, variety of alcoholic beverages. They also have concerts here every first Thursday of the month for first tap to share a new brew, and that’s a lot of fun. I will always be a patron here as long as I live in Alaska!

This is for the theater side(Pizza side) This is my family’s favorite place in ANC! The staff rock and the beer/food is amazing:) Fun concerts at this joint too! We always go to this location rather than Moose’s tooth because the wait is better but both are great:) Don’t forget to order the cookie dessert!!!

What a super cool spot! Looking for a brunch spot on a Saturday is tough because everyone’s in the same boat. In fact, my friend and I hit up Snow City beforehand and opted out of waiting 45 mins and just drove here. What a great idea, too! There was no wait and around 10:15 am there were lots of empty tables. Of course over the coming hour they filled up but it was nice to be eating an awesome meal knowing that if we had stayed on the other side of town we’d still be waiting to hear our names get called. I had a breakfast burrito and it rocked my world. Super tasty! My friend is all about salsas and sauces and remarked how relieved he was that they had more than just Tabasco. While they don’t have a sauce shelf like some other spots, they did have 4 or so options that did the trick. I hear great things about not just the brunch but the dinner, the beer and the theater. Sounds like this place has it all. Excited to come back and try it again.

Seriously love this place. The food is always great and concerts and movies in the theatre are really well run. Here’s how your first few visits will go: 1. Walk in: «Hmm, interesting group of peeps hanging out in here and working the bar and tables» 2. Look at Beer Menu: «Hmm, pretty diverse list of beer options, I’ve heard good things about Broken Tooth beers.» 3. Look at food menu: «Hmm, a lot of random options here, not sure what I’m going to try, I’ll pick randomly.» 4. Food and Beer arrive: «Hmm, that was really good. I can’t wait to come back and eat and drink that again.» 5. Come back second time: repeat steps 1 – 4 6. Find out they have concerts and movies in same building: «It’s on.»

I’m in the minority when it comes to this place. I absolutely love Moose’s Tooth but I’m not quite as enamored with Bear Tooth. I’ve eaten here a couple of times now, both times I found it to be kindof lackluster and the food rather bland and boring for my taste. They are pretty much always packed, just like Moose’s Tooth, so there is always a loud sortof buzz in the restaurant. Not a place you want to go if your looking for quiet dining or to be able to really converse with a friend. The bar is packed, and you often have to wait to get a seat here. I recently had the blackened alaskan cod tacos. They were served with cabbage and a mango fruit salsa. They were ok. nothing remarkable, honestly I have made fish tacos at home that were more exciting. I tried the garlic, cilantro fries as well. They too were ok. I mean good but not amazing. You can taste a lot of garlic but the cilantro is pretty much imperceptible in terms of flavor. I have never had their pizza here but I’m sure they are great, as they are the same recipes as their partner location. I found the food to just be average, nothing really rocked my world, or stood out to me.

WOW! After two new discoveries, I am left with no choice but to upgrade my review to FIVESTARS. First Discovery: BRUNCH They do brunch here on the weekends, and it is incredibly good. I’d go so far as to say it’s some of the best brunch INTOWN. I went in here at 9am on a Sunday, no line, barely any people in here. Best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had. It was BIG, it was tasty, it was unique. Second Discovery: CONCERTS I’m not a big music guy. Go ahead, hang me, I understand. What I mean by this is: I don’t appreciate music as much as 99% of my fellow homo sapiens. When I hear phrases like«I couldn’t LIVE without music!» or «life isn’t worth living without music!», I am confused. I rarely listen to music. I’d rather just talk to someone or listen to someone talk. Different strokes. Anyway. When I first moved to Anchorage a guy at Spenard Roadhouse told me «you gotta go to the concerts around here if you want to meet the lovely Anchorage ladies». In spirit, he is 100% correct. What I mean is, there are going to be a lot of people right around your/my age(mid 20’s to upper 30’s) present for the concerts here. When I saw the folks here when I walked in, I felt instantly at home. The concert was good but I came mainly for the camaraderie, which was even better. Also, when’s the last time you had a beer that didn’t suck at a concert? Yeah, I can’t remember either! Nice work Bear Tooth, you are now my favorite tooth!

Preface: the majority of my friends love this place’s food, so I’m in the minority in finding it just ok. And I’m referring to the restaurant side, not the theater café side. There are two great items on the restaurant menu I love: the lavender pear Bellini, and the key lime pie. Both are outstanding, but they are to me an exception to the otherwise not so exciting or tasty food. There are two good items on the menu, both from brunch: the breakfast sandwich(which I could easily replicate at home and have) and the biscuits and gravy(which is like any other standard b & g). But neither are what I would consider exceptional or creative. They have good calamari and garlic fries, too. However, there are much better brunch places around town. Everything else either doesn’t run to my taste or is kind of bland, including my recent tries, the cotija tacos, their special migas(which I had yesterday), the carne asada tacos, and the chips with three salsas. There’s not much flavor to them. Some of their stuff is spicy on top of the bland, but spicy isn’t a flavor. It’s a sensation. I have also tried two different dishes with chicken(including a spinach salad and the fettuccine). In both, the chicken was dry and overlooked and tasteless. Yuck! And the special berry cherry Bellini they had last week tasted like cough syrup. The server graciously took it back and replaced it with the lavender pear. Speaking of servers, they are all outstanding. Friendly, helpful, accommodating. And they generally manage the crazy business well – this place gets packed just about every night. It’s a favorite local hangout. Should you be up for just hanging out at the bar, be prepared to be crammed in and constantly having people squeezing past you on the way to the bathroom. I haven’t eaten in the dining area of the movie side, but I’ve eaten food in a movie from that side, but only the Caesar wrap. It was yummy, fresh, and a nice easy thing to eat in the dark. That’s all I can speak to on this side except I like the cheap wine choices they offer at the bar for the shows. And the movie offerings and the music shows are undoubtedly the best thing about this place. They bring in fun acts and offer movies that you can’t see anywhere else in the city, and cheaper tickets for popular movies after they’ve been out a while. I’m glad they are here for that and do a five star job there, but I am reviewing based on the food and mostly the grill restaurant side. If it’s up to me when going out with friends, I usually don’t choose this place for just eating and hanging out. But I can find things that I can enjoy when I do go there, and I imagine I will continue to end up there on occasion. I don’t think it’s on the top of any list of places to eat in town, but as I said, I know lots of people who would disagree. It’s definitely a good place to get a taste of Anchorage local life, though. It’s something of an institution, and that makes it worth checking out at least once.
