It is a short paved trail from the parking lot to the main lookout. Maybe a 5 minute walk. It is worth stopping by if in the area. You can have a nice walk and learn about the history of the area. You can read about the earthquake on the displays.

Great view from here if its a clear day! You can see Denali and many other mountains… There is signage as to what you might be looking at. There are several ways to get here… Walk from the trail. Drive along the coastline. Bike… Well you get the idea. Once you arrive learn a little about the earthquake that hit and why the coastline looks the way it does. Its all very interesting… But the view is really what people come here for… So stay a little while… Get the view. Note if it is cloudy or rainy you won’t see much except the city of anchorage… And enjoy!

Great place for a stroll or bike ride to see the skyline & watch the planes coming in. The sunset & view of Sleeping Lady is lovely from here. It’s a great photography spot on the cusp of the city.

I went to the park looking for a nice place to get a photo time lapse for a project I was working on and found a great spot. There are trails that run all around the park… some are built for bikes and some are for walking/hiking. Found a beautiful place on near the water that looked out at downtown anchorage. If you’re looking for a nice place to take an afternoon stroll I would highly recommend checking it out.

Went here on thanksgiving during 2014. It was pretty cold and had fantastic views. I heard there’s seals on the beach sometimes, but there wasn’t any when I went. It was still nice anyways.

I found this park on tripadvisor and went there for a walk on our last day in Anchorage, end of September. The fall colors were just beautiful and I really enjoyed the calm and fresh air surrounding us. There were only a few others walking or bicycling through the park. There was a lookout point but the view was pretty much covered by trees and bushes. Didnt bother me though. I loved every second of it.

We stopped by here to rest before our red-eye flight back home. It has nice walkways and a beautiful look-out point where you can see the downtown skyline. There is some noise here as it is at one end of Ted Stevens Airport — but it doesn’t detract from the beauty too much.

Earthquake Park is THE place in Anchorage to watch holiday Fireworks. It has a perfect unobstructed view of Ship Creek where they set off the sparklies! Parking here is pretty limited, so arrive early. The park itself is kinda ugly, but the view of Anchorage is SPECTACULAR! I often see moose here as well. This is a good location to park and bike from as well.

I took the City Tour, which stops here at Earthquake Park – a beautiful, solemn overlook that honors the memory of those who perished in the big 1964 Alaska Earthquake. A magnitude 9.2 temblor that shook a long time, the quake ravished south-central Alaska with«round fissures, collapsing structures, and tsunamis resulting from the earthquake caused about 143 deaths,» according to Wikipedia. The tour guide mentioned that the majority of the deaths occurred in the town of Valdez, where some locals wisely headed to the hills for safety, while other(fool) hardy souls decided to ride the coming tsunami out by watching it roll in from the docks! Earthquake Park is situated on a hill overlooking an area that collapsed when the big quake hit. Many homes were crushed as they collapsed in the shaking. There are still cottages that sunk into the sandy soil along the Seward Highway whose roofs still stick out today. Also trees that were consumed by the enormous waves still stand denuded – like sticks stuck in the earth. The day I came to check this park out, it was suitably drizzly and overcast. I am not morbid but I think Earthquake Park is a noble thing to do because that Quake was a biggie. If any good can come out of the destruction, it is this: buildings in the Anchorage area are now engineered to withstand heavy earthquake activity to help keep people safe. 1 UnilocalSTAR deducted because kids use the scenic area to make out and get it on when they should be showing respect for the dead.

I love parks in general and this one offers a view of Mt. McKinley & Mt. Foraker on a nice clear day. It’s small and it takes less than 15 minutes to walk through to get to structure and informational part of the park. Its really quiet so its a nice stroll. There are nice trails off the concrete path which I suggest. Bonus: bike friendly.
