Bad news, Unilocalers, the Anahola Farmer’s Market is no longer in business. Sadness.

OMG Uncle’s bbq wild boar is out of this world! We stopped here on our way back to Kapaa from Hanalei. Great decision! Aunty talked story with us as we looked at the fresh produce they had for sale. I bought an orange(the sweet kine Hawaiian orange) to snack on later :). Then, Aunty asked us if we like bbq. You know it! So she gave us a sample of the bbq boar. Oh myyyy. Take my money! We got a bbq boar plate(comes w boar, corn on the cob, and roasted potatoes). We practically inhaled the entire plate. Everything was so ONO. The potatoes were crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, the boar was juicy and not gamy in the slightest! The bbq sauce was also amazing — more on the liquidy side and kind of a fruity flavor(not sure if guava or what). You definitely need to try it!

Kauai Wild Boar and Fruit Stand and the Anahola Farmers Market are the same. We followed Unilocal directions and arrived around 1030. The chicken had just been placed on the grill. Asked Reggie when the chicken would be done and he indicated it would be awhile but he had pork available. I ordered a plate of pork with potatoes and piece of corn. The pork was moist and tender. Some of the edge pieces were dry but tasty with the sauce. We told Reggie that we were looking for huli huli chicken. He said we wouldn’t find any better than his. We told him we would be back if we couldn’t find any huli huli chicken. We told him the pork was delicious. There were a couple of picnic tables to eat on. The fruits at the stand were the same as at other fruit stands. There were also baked banana bread, mango bread and brownies for $ 5.00 each. We passed on the fruit and baked goods because we were looking for huli huli chicken.

This is a must, the bestt bbq pork and huli huli ckn ever. It tastes as good as it smells. You can smell the wood burning grill from at least a mile away. Look for the signs along Kuhiu hwy. Large portions makes it great for sharing, the grilled red potatoes were super delicious and grill corn was sweet. Great g or a picnic beach lunch or d i nner, or eat at their picnic benches. The mango bread was very tastey and kalua mac brownie was heavenly. The jewelry vendor makes her own products, very beautiful and great souvenirs from kaiai, as they are made from elements found in Kauai ITS A MUSTMAHALOANDALOHA

Sad that I missed the farmer’s market in Lihue to find local tropical fruit, my husband saw a sign for«farmers market» on our way back from Princeville to Lihue. Don’t be fooled — this is not a place to buy fruits and veggies. While there are some to buy, it’s quite limited and prices are a bit steep and more than I would be willing to pay. The farmer’s market is also in front of what looks like a family’s house and the produce is what they might have gotten from a small farm or family friend’s yard. I didn’t try any of the baked goods — but could be worth trying. Now, to the good stuff — stop here not for produce, but for the wild boar plate lunch! The boar(supposedly what you might even call organic since they mostly eat vegetation or fruit) was moist, tasty, and definitely not dry. It came with a side of potatoes(which actually tasted like potatoes) and a small piece of sweet corn. The pork also was drizzled with what might be home made bbq sauce. While I actually preferred it without the sauce, it was a nice change for those who might be looking for that little extra. We received friendly service, had a sample of the boar and was sold. Then went back to our hotel — ate it on the patio with a couple of beers and poke bought from the super market. Definitely better than any meal you can get at the hotel. Support this small business and try their plate lunch. I’d be open to also trying the chicken the next time we’re in Kauai.

The boar was great, and it’s clear you don’t need a fancy pit to make good BBQ. We came back twice when they were open, and would have stopped a few more times but they were not there. Maybe just weekends Absolutely the most delicious way to control an invasive species ever!

Reggie!!! We love Reggie! He’s from the mainland, but has been in HI forever, and he’s the master BBQ-er! His wild boar and chicken plate is so delicious and we crave it all the time when we are around! The plate has corn, potatoes and the wild boar and/or chicken … all for $ 10! I guess it is easy to pass the market, but watch for the signs carefully off the main road, and you will be there! The market is not large, but has some nice baked goods and a small selection of produce. There are also some crafters selling their wares. I saw one who did the wood carvings … pretty neat! but we just couldn’t bring it home(I guess we could have had it sent home). But, bottom line, this market is worth it for Reggie’s wild boar plate!

While in Kauai for a week, my husband and I shopped here about 3 times. It’s a very small farmer’s market with only one vendor so the choices are quite limited and pricier. Everything we bought from here were delicious especially papaya, bananas and star apple! Their system of payment was a shock to me. You grab a fruit and you put the money in the jar next to it. No one counts the money because they just assume you’re honest. Coming from New York, this is something I’ve never seen before! It was an eye opener that there are still people who believe people will do the right thing. The bbq pork and huli-huli chicken were the reason we kept coming back here! For $ 10 you get a huge serving of chicken or pork with a side of potatoes, corn and«bread» something(I forgot the name) but it’s not bread, it tastes similar to cassava. I absolutely loved huli-huli chicken! Well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. My husband said the same for the pork. We consumed it with great pleasure!

Tried the wild boar combo plate and it was pretty good. The meat was tender and the BBQ sauce had good flavor. Don’t let some of the other reviews hype this up too much for you and you’ll definitely enjoy it. P. S. The Farmer’s Market is pretty small but it may be off season.

I just had some of the best bbq of my life at Anahola Farmers Market. Smell the smoke as you park your car. Choose pork(well-rendered with a good bark and delicious sauce) or huli chicken(very tender, good skin and tasty sauce) Each plate is $ 10 and comes with some well-roasted red potatoes with a creamy interior and probably the best corn on the cob I’ve ever eaten. I know, it’s just corn, right? But somehow it was soft and buttery and just another level of this yummy vegetable. You can get both meats on a plate for $ 15. It’s a farmer’s market, so of course they have produce, but just the basic tropical stuff — pineapple, apple bananas, mangoes and papayas. It’s overpriced enough to offend, like $ 1.75 for a medium tomato or $ 3 for a large sweet onion. They also sell sweet breads at $ 5 for a small loaf. We tried banana with sweet banana topping which was really good, didn’t try pineapple with sweet pineapple topping, and just bought coconut brownie bread with a haupia topping, which was, ohmygod, that is so good! You can pick up sauces — Hawaiian hot pepper, barbeque or huli — or grab a spice rub. There’s usually a couple of other venders around. Today it was homemade jewelry and leis. Last year, we stopped by and bought some coconut syrup for pancakes back home. I bought a beautiful shell necklace in the Niihau style for $ 200 that would have cost me at least three times that in the stores. I’ve received six compliments on it so far this week. But none of that really matters: get the barbeque!

Not sure what all the buzz is about for this one. Positive: it is easy to get there, they have an amazing bbq sauce on the pork and the people are friendly Negative: sooooooo small, ridiculous prices, the food they are serving is over cooked and dry

The Huli chicken and pork are among the best we have tried during our two month stay in Kauai. Ample portions, reasonable prices and outdoor eating with nice views. A real down home family style treat. Look for special desserts. Limited but good selection of fruits and veggies sold by very nice people. Someone put a nice video on youtube. Mahalo for that.

Not as great as I was hoping. I wouldn’t necessarily call this a farmers market. It is basically two homes across the street from each other with a small(very small) selection of produce. One reviewer mentioned brown eggs, cheese, homemade pasta and other items. None of that was anywhere to be found. There was only one table with a few mangos, coconuts, papayas, and that was about it. Maybe we just caught it on a bad day. Not sure. The pro was the fresh BBQ Huli Chicken and Wild Boar. We tried the BBQ Boar, which was pretty tasty and the atmosphere was beautiful, but if you are looking for an actual Farmer’s Market, I would head back South to Kapa’a and check out the one there.

What a great market and educational experience. We only shop farmers markets for our veggies, fruit, brown eggs, cheese, fresh pasta etc it’s on a old plantation and co op a sustainable learning experience . The people vendors to customers are just plain old fashioned nice parking is in a field with parking attendants . The butter avacados are huge and $ 1.00 for a ripe one Apple banannas $ 1:00 also . We bought onions mangos papaya tangelos chilies tomatoes green leaf lettuce and pickled veggies. This market is a true gem.

Super friendly people. It’s not a big market, one stand each for fruits/vegetables, jewelry, and food. The huli chicken and wild boar are both $ 10 each. It comes with a side of roasted potatoes and corn on the cob. Between the two, I prefer the boar. It has more flavor and it goes well with the sweet BBQ sauce on top. The chicken was not bad, though the breast meat can be a bit dry. However, I think the food here is a great deal because you get an entire half a chicken for $ 10.
