Over the years we’ve bought several rose trees and fruit trees from this place. I only come here when I can’t find what I want from Home Depot or Armstrongs because you just don’t know who you’re going to get. and it’s cash only. There was a young man(many years ago) who was very nice and helpful. A year ago I was fortunate to be assisted by a nice lady who helped me pick out a longan tree, and got help loading it. Unfortunately, there is that old man with the little whiskers on his chin. He’s ok if you ask a simple question like if they have a specific tree. But inquiring how to make the trees thrive or if you need to prune, etc… you may be entering the twilight zone of receiving condescending attitude and blame. This has happened twice: The first time he lectured me on not adding enough fertilizer(when I was just asking if I should add compost), not watering the umpteen gallons it needs everyday and that i ask too many questions(2 too much?) then when he saw another customer who spoke his language, he walked off in a huff and became Mr. Nice to her. Last month I made the dumb mistake of asking another question, but I learned to step away when the dark cloud of the twilight zone started to descend upon him. It’s the only nursery I know that sells tropical fruit frees in the area, so just have to take your chances. Tread lightly if you see him and carry cash, at least $ 100+ if you want a decent sized plant(5 gallon pots).

I came to Mimosa Nursery because I was looking for bamboo trees for my front patio area and was referred by a friend, Sahn Ta, who works as a gardener. Some Unilocalers rated this nursery as low because of lack of helpfulness or friendliness. I proceeded with caution but found the reviews to be inaccurate. This is a privately owned nursery with one man who does everything. I found Tony to be very friendly but he’s a first generation Asian so his English is very limited. He communicated with my husband and I as well as he could and he did everything. He was great and smiled the whole time! He is ‘Asian’… if you understand the culture, you will understand that he is friendly and helpful. I found many varieties of bamboo trees here. This nursery also has a large variety of exotic Asian fruit trees and citrus trees so if you are Asian or looking to create an Asian themed garden like me… this is the place to go. Tony got a cart to carry the heavy bamboo tree and rolled it out to the car and helped my husband load into the back of the truck and tie it down… in very little English and a lot of hand signals. They do only accept cash so my husband left with the tree in the back of the truck to go to an ATM and I stayed to ensure Tony that my husband would return with the payment. Tony said I didn’t need to stay because he trusted us. That was very nice of him. A great experience. Highly recommend. I plan to return to buy a mango tree.

The person answered the phone was quite rude. I wanted a persimmon tree and asked him how much it cost and he told me it was $ 200, CASHONLY. I did my little price comparison elsewhere and every other nursery’s price was much cheaper than this place, prices ranging from $ 60 to $ 120 for the same height and they all take credit card. Why would I go to the bank to take out $ 200 in cash? For real? This place is stupid to take cash only. I would stop by all the other nurseries before I step foot on this one. Peace out.

The plants are potted and many of them are large. A great place to find plants for landscaping a new property. We visited both locations and found staff to be knowledgable and helpful. The variety of plants was extensive.

Don’t expect friendly service here from I’m assuming the owner. You can try to get a discount and will get some off though. They do have exotic trees like the lychee tree i want! $ 145 for it and all sales are final with no warranty if you don’t have a green thumb. Wish they would have these trees at a lowes!

It’s not exactly Home Depot, Lowes, or some of the popular garden centers, but they do have the exact exotic plants that is was looking for. I heard complaints that they are not helpful, but my experience today said otherwise. They help me pick out what I needed, take it out to my car and loaded for me. Not only that, gentlemen there took his time teaching me how to care for the plants I purchased. He didn’t push any products on me, but does have recommendation for a successful transplantation of these plants. He even gave me a nice price cut for the bigger plants. Not a bad experience for an Asian establishment. So, I have to rate them a 4, because there is still room for improvement.
