Chris&pitt’s is home in my mind. Growing up this was the place for Ribs and still is! The baby backs with hawiian sauce amazing even the run of the mill salad is awsome I can’t say enough about this place perhaps it’s because of family memories and every celebration was done at chris and pitts but if your looking for great food try this place!!!

I had been coming here with my family since I was born, and now at the age of 24 am super saddened to learn this place closed. 3 high school and college graduations in my family took place here, countless birthdays and random family dinners. This place was American BBQ and the epitome of it. I am going to miss seeing the neon sign when driving down Euclid, almost like a flashback to my childhood every time I’d see it. Hopefully the new location is as good as the original, and hopefully the keep the table top Centipede machine in the waiting area. I still have the scar above my eye when I hit my head on it as a 3 year old

I’m incredibly devastated that this place closed. ;_; I’ve spent most of my adolescent and teen years here for random celebrations. And now, now where can I get decent ribs without getting shot or harassed by dudes hitting on me even though I’m with my man? P. S. I don’t like the fact that people said that the Asians wanted to push out the white folks. That part of Anaheim isn’t exactly Cerritos or Irvine ya know…

My wife and I went there last week because I was craving BBQ. We were shocked to see that the place was dark and the neon signs removed. Finding out that it was closed for good sent a ripple of sadness through our hearts and stomachs. We drove to the one in Bellflower where I was able to enjoy their beef ribs and my wife a burger. A fellow customer heard us asking our waitress why they closed the Anaheim venue. He filled us in on the details. The landlord wanted to raise their rent by $ 4000 a month. It proved to be more than the owners could afford so they were forced to close that location. Their last day was New Year’s Eve. There are no plans to reopen in a nearby locale. At one time they had 15 locations and are now down to three. It seems so many small chains are forced to close due to increased rent or the dip in the economy. So, if you are craving C & P hit the Bellflower site. I guess a few are better than none. To the Anaheim Chris and Pitts, we mourn your passing and pray for your resurrection.

Ever wished you could go to the Regal Beagle and hang with Jack, Janet, Chrissy, Larry, and Mr. Firley? What if you could also get a delicious prime rib dinner there for only 13 bucks? Have I been hitting the crack pipe, you ask? No, I’m talking about Chris and Pitt’s. This place was a hidden gem that my wife and I frequented on a regular basis. That was redundant, wasn’t it? The point is, we went there a lot. The food was incredible, yet incredibly inexpensive. Incredulous, you are? That sounded like Yoda, didn’t it? Believe me, this place is great. The bleu cheese dressing is so rich and creamy that you don’t care that it’s covering a third-rate salad you’d get from a 7 – 11 at 3am on Christmas morning. The prime rib rivals that at any middle of the road eatery. It doesn’t top Lawrys, but it buries the prime rib from Knott’s Berry Farm. Did I mention it’s only 13 bucks? Garlic toast and mashed potatoes round out this perfectly fine meal. The food isn’t the only reason to go, either. The décor, the staff, and the patrons all have a Retro charm that will put a smile on your face. So when can you go? Never. Alas, the Anaheim location has closed it’s doors on the eve of 2011. There is… another…Chris…and…Pitts…

As I write this, I wipe a tear and stifle a sob. After 36 years, this wonderful place is closing. I’ve been there twice recently just to take in the whole experience before it goes. I grew up in Anaheim, and along with the La Palma Chicken Pot Pie Shop, Ah Fong’s and Mexicasa, this was a frequent place for my family. The wood paneling, colored glass tiles, red pleather booths and overworked waitresses serving huge plates and strong drinks has never changed. And for the food, well, it has always been consistently good, cheap and massive. I will always remember the salads with tons of yummy blue cheese or ranch dressing, the brontosaurus size beef ribs, the savory pork ribs, crunchy garlic bread and baked potatoes with tons of butter and sour cream. It’s the end of an era and a sad day for foodies.

Straight outta the 70’s is this place. It has been here forever and I think some of the waitresses have too. The food is not that special. Its good and cheap though and will more than adequately soothe your carnivorous BBQ appetite. You get a ton of food and the service is usually great. I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. If you want a lot of comfort food at a great price and miss that old school diner feel, you will not be let down.

CHRISANPITTS! WOOT! I used to come here almost every week as a little girl with my family and I’m happy to say, NOTHINGEVERCHANGES! Not even the Hostess with the big oddly colored bar hair. I’m a huge fan of all their meats and especially their mashed potatoes… and and ANDESPECIALLY their side salads which is just a plain basic salad but for some reason the dressing gets all watery and delicious. Just going in there and sitting in the main dining room with those big booths and giant onion rings makes me feel all awesome inside. Whats even awesomer is that my fiancé, Daniel, used to go to the chris and pitts in downey almost every week when he was growing up! :D We love it and the only reason its better now is that we can order pitchers of beer! PLUS: they still have the little sit down double sided video game in the lobby that my brother and I used to play… *sigh* I hope this place never closes! The only reason this place get a 4 instead of a 5 is that, truth be told, this place is a hole… a time warp of a hole. God bless it! :D

Remember that deep fryer Moe gets when he opens his own family restaurant on The Simpsons? This is that realized in real life down to having someone with Moe’s attitude serving you. This place is usually popping around meal times. But to be frank the reason why is because of the absurdly huge, reason why Americans are obese portions. I mean seriously I could live off of one of the plates for a week it’s so huge. The food quality itself is OK. It’s just OK. But sometimes OK suffices. The drink pours are pretty good and the prices aren’t crazy. The customer service is absolute shit. But usually I’m already drinking by the time I notice that the service is bad. Interior is falling apart and feels musty. Bottom Line… it’s a great place to get a buttload of fried foods. And that’s it.

Delicious food, gigantic portions and an overall good time! I love the décor because it looks like they’ll never change. Pasta is always $.75 extra with your meal and totally worth it! Their BBQ sauce is my favorite of all time and I really am sorry I haven’t come back sooner since I was a little kid.

If this place was still as cheap as the old days — it would have more stars! But it seems like every time we go back, the entrees have gone up another buck. I still love the blue cheese dressing on the side salad, the old fashioned red leather booths and their delicious onion rings. We call them onion donuts, because they’re so light and delicious. Tom had the New York steak and I had the bacon cheeseburger(of course). They were both delicious as well as the smokey beans and garlic bread sides. The service was quick and friendly, I just wish Chris and Pitt’s still had it’s old fashioned prices!

BESTBLEUCHEESEDRESSINGEVER. They actually sell it, and I find it hard to eat any other Bleu Cheese Dressing besides this now. Like everyone else said the building is not very pretty, especially inside. It’s very divey to say the least. The service is hit or miss, sometimes it’s great, sometimes awful. Their ribs are good and tender. A lot of people complained about them being tough and even burnt. I’ve never had that problem here, they are usually pretty tender, but they are definitely not the MOST tender i’ve ever had, but better than most places. HATERS!!!

Good: Boy do they give you a lot of food. And that’s about it. Bad: This place feels very dated(1970s anyone?) and the food is subpar. This is one of those places you go to if you are hungry and don’t have a have a palate. Final: If you like quantity over quality, this is the place to go.

i love you chris! and pitt! but not all of you. just this location right here in anaheim. every other c&p location i’ve eaten at makes me wanna vomit then punch someone in the face, but not this one! i feel the complete opposite as a matter of fact. when i first came here i ordered a mai tai on a whim. i was feeling fresh and fruity and needed a drink to match… well, guess what? the waitress alerted me to the fact that the bartender makes the best mai tais in town! imagine that! the best mai tai in anaheim is at chris and pitt’s and it’s now a drink i’ve come to love. with a passion. and i can’t drink em anywhere else but here. lol. first of all, it’s strong as fuck. the thing arrives in a foo foo curvy girly glass with a straw and fancy colors… the top being a thick band of gold. rum. it sears my nostrils everytime i take that first sip… yet is so smooth and warm and tasty on the way down! :P mmm. the mai tai isn’t the only thing i love here. i’m a huge, gigantic, insanely loyal fan of their brazed chicken drizzled with some of that hot bbq sauce for spice. it’s probably one of my favorite chicken dinners in the world when paired with their awesome buttered mashed potatoes… mmm. heck, even the small green dinner salad they start you off with is fresh, crisp and yummy with your choice of dressing. word on the street is this place is going to be shutting it’s doors soon and i just refuse to believe it. please don’t ever close because there is no hope for other c&p locations! the interior has a classic, suuuuper tacky 80s restaurant vibe that i will sorely miss if they shut this place down D: please don’t take my sunshine away.

Thinking about this place makes me want to hurl. The spaghetti is so disgusting – it was definitely the worst part of the meal. Now you may be thinking, «Dee, you got your just desserts for ordering spaghetti at a ribs place!» But it was free, so I had to try it!(Although I wish I hadn’t.) :( The ribs weren’t fall-off-the-bone at all, and they were very dry – reminded me of a similar experience at Newport Rib Company, actually. I find it very sad that these types of restaurants boast«bbq» when what they really give patrons is charred meat.

I have passed this place for the past 24 years of my existence and have never stepped into C & P, until last week. I have driven by this place probably several thousands of times since I have grown up around this area. The exterior looks very flashy, especially with the Vegas-like feeling by just standing outside the restaurant I step inside and my expectations of this place immediately went down the drain. Felt like I was in Reno and not Vegas anymore. Round booths covered in red. Place had an 80’s feeling to it. Immediately my friend and I tell the hostess(who is around her mid 60’s) that we are meeting up with a couple of friends. Me: «Hello, party of 5 please?» Hostess: «I don’t believe you.» — «Until I see them I will seat you, just hold on» Not even a min later my friends met us up. We then get seated in this empty restaurant. I didn’t understand why she didn’t seat us if the restaurant didn’t look busy at all or did the servers look like they were closing stations. The lady was just a bit rude. Anyway once seated, I order my beef ribs, friend orders prime rib. and my other friend orders the baby back pork ribs. I try my beef ribs and they are completely black. I understand charbroiled but not ribs coated in tough sticky, bitter charcoal«flavor». It felt like it was dumped in tar. I kid you not! I probably only had a bit of meat and the rest was gristle. It was a charbroiled black mess of a rib. It wasn’t even tender and I have had beef ribs before. Ive had delicious beef ribs. This place just wasn’t it. I was just left with bbq in my fingernails, BBQ soaked napkins on the table and a disappointed taste in my mouth. I had stale side of fries and really bad BBQ beans it seems you get out of a can. It was dull, overcooked tasteless BBQ. No heart. I think there was a reason I had never stepped in because after this mess, Chris and Pitt’s won’t be seeing me anytime soon.

I was out in the Anaheim area and didn’t know where to eat. I spotted this place and recognized the name from their jars of barbecue sauce that I’ve seen at the store. The atmosphere and bathroom weren’t great so I don’t think it’d be a good place to take a date to impress. This seemed more of a family joint where people bring kids. I ordered the onion loaf and the pork rib lunch special which came with a salad or soup(I had the basic lettuce salad with blue cheese dressing), baked beans, fries, garlic bread, and 3 good-sized ribs. I liked the barbecue sauce because it was a little sweet, but I just cannot find BBQ ribs in Southern California that I am really crazy about… The search continues… It took awhile for the waitress to come and take our order, but after that, she did provide great and patient service. She answered questions about the menu without showing any hint of an attitude which was refreshing.

I absolutely love LOVELOOOOVE this place! On my countless trips: *Service has always been great and orders accurate, I even get medium rare here because they get it perfect! *Not intimidating, its hole-in-the-wall-esque atmosphere in a large restaurant is pretty comforting… *So much variety! *Best bang for the buck — definitely! I frequent this place with my boyfriend and friends because we get a large quantity of food, it tastes great and its usually under $ 20/person. Most meals include a soup or salad(try their chilibean soup!), garlic bread, au jous and choice of potato. Add that to your entrée and you have a huuuuge meal for $ 12 – 25 dependant on what you choose… A really great deal. Also, you can give up your choice of potato and an additional side… add seventy-five cents and get a ginormous portion of spaghetti instead — its pretty good too! I usually get a New York Steak, Porterhouse, Prime Rib or Baseball Sirloin and substitute the spaghetti. I eat half of the steak, all my soup and sides… Then I have spaghetti and steak to last me for breakfast and lunch the next day! I havent tried it myself, but heard from quite a few people that their broasted chicken is great too!

Part of the cowboy code says you must tell the truth, so considering we’re in Anaheim Angels territory, I’m gonna listen to ol’ Gene and do the same regarding Chris’ & Pitt’s. IT’S KICKASS!!! The Chris’ & Pitt’s establishment has been around for almost 60 years. That’s right folks. Sixty years, and at first glance, you’ll see that NOTHING appears to have changed. From the red booster seats to the popcorn ceiling, all the way to the plates and the wood-panneled walls. Even the friendly hostess looks like she just got back from the beauty parlor with her hair perfectly coiffed, blue and pink eyeshadow and all. Our Y2K lingo would say it’s got a certain«Kitsch» factor, but I prefer calling it old fashioned«character.» Unfortunately, in the good ol’ OC, having character without the trendiness to go along isn’t enough to call it a «concept» and thus makes it undesirable for a business model(re: other reviews). To sum it up, you don’t find«hipsters» at Chris’& Pitt’s. But character aside, what I like about Chris’ & Pitts is, they remain themselves, just themselves, after all these years. So the trademarked BBQ sauced, wood smoked ribs are good. Nice and juicy with a smoky flavor. But my favorite, the chicken fried steak is GREAT!!! You get: a huge patty with, what I’ll call, the perfect proportion of breadiness to patty, all crispified up, with gravy carefully spooned over. And forget Chili’s or Outcrack Steakhouse. Chris’ & Pitts also serves the BEST version of an onion blossom/flower in OC. And to drink? Their strawberry milkshake is the ONLY shade of pink that I love. All the food I’ve tried is just absolutely delicious, in that home style, artery clogging, comfort food kind of way. And remember folks, given the type of food it is, if you don’t leave feeling bloated and ready to keel over, they didn’t do their job correctly. Service is always great. Ya know, they«accidentally» made me a double order on the onion flower during our last visit. Prices? Best value for a BBQ place in OC. Overall, I was crushed when finding out the location on Harbor Blvd. was shut down but yes, «I’m back in the saddle again» knowing that Anaheim is but a hop, skip and a jump a bit further down the I-5. BIG plus: This location has a full bar AND has table PacMan in the waiting room.
