I was just looking for a quick brunch and decided to check this place out. What I found was a cute little market filled with art and delicious breakfast sandwiches and other fare. I had a bagel with goat cheese, tomato, scrambled egg and pesto and the most DELICIOUS cranberry scone. Will definitely be going back!

What a very homie place. Small but packed with life. Delicious food, very fast and all locally grown. Stop in and grab some brunch! The jolly rabbit and hurdy gurdy are both delicious

Great food. Takeout service in the morning is VERY slow. I call for my orders in advance and still have to wait. I just want to pay and go, without changing my schedule, or raising my voice.

Had the huevos rancheros. It was good but could definitely have benefitted from more flavor. The salsa spiced things up a bit, but it was far from the best huevos I’ve ever had. I did try my friends bagel with Lox and that was delicious. The food was fresh and local. They also had a super cool collection of beverages and fun knock knacks. Although I’m not in the area often, I would return to try other things offered the next time I’m nearby.

I am a tough Unilocal reviewer, so giving this place 4 stars really means a lot. The food is amazing and would have brought it to 5 stars, however there are a lot of shortcomings. 1. The wait for the food does not make any sense. 2. Not enough seating — they could make more room for seats outside in their spacious dirt lots. 3. If you are hungover like me, and don’t care to listen to the live jazz(which sober, would have been OK), this may not be your place. 4. The menu on the board is written too small Even with all these shortcomings, I would come back to this place every week because the food and breads are so amazing. They do a good andouille sausage. I recommend the mardi gras for breakfast. Their dirty chai is great, too.

LOVED this place! We were visiting the college and read about the maple latte at this place on Unilocal. It definitely is swaying our college decision choice! Left with a dashboard Jesus, monkey mints and some fun socks. They even have vegan socks! Highly recommend coming here to Amherst for the maple latte and stopping by the college as a side benefit.

Good breakfast spot found this place by accident. The food is fresh and organic, also portions were bigger than expected for an organic restaurant. Also the lattes are large and full of flavor. I just wish they had a bigger menu and a better parking lot.

Stopped in for a late breakfast. Lingered over a second Maple latte. If you haven’t had one, it’s a must have treat. Turkey Ruben was delicious, exactly the right blend of sauerkraut and Russian dressing. Just the right balance of sweet and tart. Turkey was moist and full of flavor. Stop in, you won’t regret it.

This place has my favorite lunch anywhere in the valley. The staff are friendly, the food is consistent and amazingly tasty and well put together, and the vibe of the place makes me settle right in. I recommend the big Fred sandwich, a turkey Reuben, unbelievable!

I didn’t try the food besides a hard boiled egg(which was fine, for the record). I’m authoring this 2 star review while I sit here in the mostly empty café late on a Saturday afternoon while aggressive free form jazz, 90s pop rock bands, and other unpleasant music blares on the speakers overhead. Just in case the music on the floor wasn’t jarring enough, the staff is also playing music in the kitchen for maximum discord. It’s confusing because besides me, a person on a laptop, the café is currently populated by: * A guy on a laptop, with headphones in * A student with several papers spread out & a graphing calculator, studying intently * Two young women with macbooks, studying. Why the staff thinks we look like a bunch of live wires who’d appreciate some bootleg String Cheese Incident jam sessions, I’m not sure. I do recall, when I worked in a late-night café, that we would crank the music at the 3AM closing time, to get people to clear out, so my best guess is that the staff is playing bad-for-the-context music loudly in order to get us to vacate the café & leave them alone. Soda was cold, egg was cooked: 2 stars. EDIT: They’re wiping & rearranging the tables in preparation for close now at 6:00, an hour before close. Yep, they’re trying to chase us out so they can get out of here. I don’t blame them for wanting to leave, but if you’re coming here just bear in mind this place starts closing at 5:00 on Saturday, not 7:00. 1 star cuz I don’t appreciate being chased out an hour before close.

I visited this place after the Amherst locals told me I HAD to. The food and coffee is quite delicious. I had the pleasure of watching a live string band while enjoying my breakfast. They feature local artwork and products, although the grocery section seems to be extremely overpriced. The food is wonderful though, so that is what I will return for.

best pancakes and coffee ever. Sunday brunch with live jazz and omelettes is a great hangover cure if you’re weird like me and don’t care about the loud jazz instruments. love the local spirit

Love this place! I eat gluten-free-and instead of having a tiny sandwich w barely enough toppings, they make a giant sandwich-using four slices of bread! Great customer service, lovely atmosphere! thanks for looking out for us gluten free folks!

Neat place went down there for the first time. it was half convenient beer and wine store and in the back there was the café which was cool. I ordered a sandwich it was called the safe hit. legit hit every taste bud, so good! I saw they had cookies and brownies that were enormous almost got one but I resisted the sweettooth. The prices were kinda on the pricey side but worth it for what you get! definately will revisit soon

Such a cool place to grab some hearty delicious breakfast whenever Im in Amherst. Good vibe, with live music in the morning. When I came here there were two guys playing guitar, filling the back breakfast room with sweet low key background music. Their rosemary roasted potato side is a MUST. So good. I tend to go for one of their breakfast sandwiches, but Ive heard their challah french toast is to die for. Their breakfast sandwiches arent greasy or oily, just enough and always delicious. its sometimes hard to find a table if its busy and you have more than 2 people. Definitely gives off a local vibe which I LOVE. Another awesome feature: local artwork from surrounding school systems that rotate! Great way to display local art, most done by middle school/high schoolers, and all really good and interesting. Love that community feel. colorful place that makes me feel right at home-:)

Cushman Market & Café is a funky, cool café and market without pretense or attitude. In front is a Market with organic boxed goods, a bit of fresh produce from local farms, a wide selection of local and tried and true beers, wine, and the funkiest array of goofy items like Affirmation gumballs, silly kleenex, bacon-flavored gum, etc, all the things your inner kid will love! In the back, there’s the cutest light and bright café with a wide variety of sandwiches. They’re known for their egg sandwiches(about 8 different types), and their homemade turkey sausage. They also have quite a few vegetarian sandwiches, either hot or cold. I had the vegetarian reuben with tofu, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and 1000 Island dressing, which was served on homemade rye bread. It was HEAVENLY. I have never tasted such decadence!!! Though they have sodas –both traditional and fancy-schmancy organic, I really recommend their homemade iced teas. I had their Roobois-Lemon Myrtle, served, as suggested, with sprigs of fresh mint and lemon, and it was heaven! Truly a wonderfully fragrant mixture of lemon and mint with the subtle earthiness of Roobois tea. Drinking this made me feel like I was on vacation! They have free DSL, and usually enough small wooden tables to go around. They also have good cookies, and decadent-looking cupcakes. They take credit cards, and the staff is super friendly. You order at the front, and they bring you your meal. Yummy. You can also eat outside. They have tables with umbrellas. I can’t praise Cushman Market & Café for the relaxed, playful atmosphere they create, amidst a friendly crew.
